After Hours Animal Hospital

My family and I have taken multiple dogs to this vet. It’s nice that they’re open late for people like myself who work until 5 or later. Most recently had to take my dog who suffered a dog bite. I called and came in alone and hysterical. Debbie was so calm and sweet to me. and Dr. Trujillo is very experienced and will always do what’s best for your animal. I feel like this animal hospital does not take advantage of you financially and truly cares about you and your pet (s). I recommend this hospital to anyone looking for somewhere to take their pet. I know I will be back.

My little lu ripped her nail. Was bleeding everywhere. Took her here on a Sunday picked her up same day. Office staff and doctor very friendly took care of her. Price was a little expensive but made lu comfortable and she was comfortable and not scared with this vet.

Sadly, our 15 year old beloved pet was in too much pain and discomfort. It was time to let her rest. This facility made our decision an easier one to make. We appreciate their compassion, and their quick assistance, especially on a weekend. The cost was competitive and fair.

This is not my dog’s usual vet. I took in my toy poodle because she suddenly could not walk. When we arrived my dog as checked in by a lady who worked in the front desk. We were taken back to a room pretty quickly. We waited about 10 minutes for the doctor in the meantime a guy comes in to take my dogs temperature didn’t introduce himself I assumed it as the Vet. I started to ask questions he told me the doctor would be in a in a minute. We waited another 5 minutes. The doctor comes wearing a hoodie nothing which tells me he is a vet, again no introduction. He listens to my dog’s heart. I explained what the problem was. He said she has a spinal problem. Keep in mind there were no x-​rays performed nor any test done to confirm this, he just looked at her. He explained if I let her stay there for a few days she will likely get better but there is a chance she may not or he could send her to get back surgery and the cost for that would be $ 6,000– $ 8,000.00. I was taken back being that he came to a conclusion by just looking at my dog he said she needs back surgery and not one test was done. The Vet then said he was going to step out while his assistant prepares quote. The assistant comes in with a 2000 quote to leave her there for 4 days. My instinct said run I was not about to trust this guy with my dog being that you’re telling me to leave her on a basis of just looking at her. So I told the vet I was going to take her home and I would visit her regular vet the next day. As I was checking out I was holding my baby in her bed and had my hands full. I handed the receptionist my card trusting I would be charged for an office visit of $ 24.99 and I walked out with my dog. As I was putting her in the car an employee comes out and asks me if I want to take some medicine home I said no the doctor didn’t, mention anything. I wasn’t going to give my dog meds without any confirmation of what was actually wrong with her. I also told him there was nothing explained about medication. When I got home I saw I was charged $ 233.00. I called the following morning and the receptionist was a different one from last night at first she was polite after I explained to her what had happened she got really defensive and rude. I didn’t mind being charged what I was quoted for which was 24.99 office visit. I asked her to please correct the mistake and I was not going to pay for services that were not rendered. She basically called me a liar said they gave me medicine and shots for my dog. She said that I should have paid more attention to my receipt. (Gee sorry for thinking you would only charge me for the office visit) She didn’t want to discuss anything else and hung up. I took my dog in to her regular vet this morning and found out she has kidney failure didn’t need to leave her for days they did a few test same day, It was not her spine please listen to your instincts. Very Unprofessional. I hope the head Doctor/​Owner will do what is right and refund me the cost for what I was overcharged.

We took our chihuahua/​pekingese mix to the Vet because we were worried she was too old to be pregnant. The staff was very friendly and made us feel comfortable. Vet. Cassidy was great and said our baby was in good shape for her age. In fact she said she didnt look her age at all. She recommend we go back in 25 days for a follow-​up. Thank you Vet. Cassidy for giving us peace of mind.

I cannot say enough great things about Dr Cassidy! I read some of these reviews and wonder how anyone could have anything negative to say. We took our dog to another vet when he was a puppy and they overcharged and misdiagnosed and it really scarred me. When we met Dr Cassidy, I instantly loved her and knew that my little guy was in great hands with her. We have been with her for 5 ½ years now and I will never take my dog to anyone else. She is like part of our family and our dog loooooves her! You will not regret taking your pet to her!

My dog has been ill, he had a tumor on his neck. I was quoted about $ 1100.00 for the surgery. After some discussion the fee was reduced to $ 500. I am unsure what to make of this except to say that I need to be a better consumer. I was not given a written estimate that I can use to compare so that I can tell you why there was such a huge price difference. However I picked up my dog in the evening the day of surgery at about 7:15PM. He looked calm and groggy which seemed normal. He had the surgery in the morning. By 12:00 midnight the pain meds that had been injected wore off. He was «crying» and appeared to be in excruciating pain. He had not been prescribed pain meds nor had the doctor discussed this with me. I regret not having asked. I ended taking my dog to an Animal ER in Norwalk where I was told he was dehydrated which I believe given that he hadn’t consumed much water. He was kept for a few hours and prescribed pain meds. Mind you my dog is 16 years old. I am unsure if I made the right decision by having the surgery performed, but given that my dog had been in good health (regularly eating, drinking, peeing, and pooping) and all three doctors commented that for his age he had a good heart and appears healthy, I made the best decision I could at the time. My only regret is that I did not request pain meds for him. I do believe that the doctor should have recommended medication and at least discussed this with me. I also question the huge price difference. These are the reasons I give this facility 2 stars. I am taking my dog in for a follow up today. I will add/​change this review as needed.

My maltese (LOLA) suffered severe fractions due to a truck running her over. She needed surgery. I called 3 different locations and they all gave me an estimate of $ 3 – 7 thousand. I went to Trujillo and ready to put my pup down because the $$ being asked for the surgery was too much. Trujillo offered my pup a second chance to live. He said he would help with surgery within my budget… I couldn’t be more thank full. Such an amzing facility. All staff are very attentive and truly care for animals…

Sandy, is the cream of the crop. Years ago our sweet dog was so sick, we weren’t sure if she’d make it. This required surgery to remove a huge stone in her bladder. The TLC she received was amazing. Now, she’s 11 years old and doing greatthanks Sandy, Dr. Trajullio and staff.

After coming here a few times for vaccinations and boarding for my puppies. I called today to get a quote for a routine exam required by our pet insurance company. I was shocked when I was quoted $ 600 to $ 700 by an assistant. I asked to speak to the vet and he too insisted that the exam required x-​rays and that was the price. I told him that ‘X-​Rays Not Required’ was printed on the insurance paperwork to be filled out. I was then told that it would be up to the specialist if he wanted to take x-​rays or not and without the x-​rays it would cost around $ 300. I googled another vet in the area, I explained what the insurance company wanted and that x-​rays were not required, I was then quoted $ 28. I asked if I could list them as our primary vet, and I got the appointment this weekend. Unfortunately I will be changing facilities, thats too bad since this was a very convenient location and the staff seemed pretty nice.

I do not understand where all these bad ratings come from. Dr. Trujillo is the best. He’s as attentive as one would expect from a good Vet. They have good puppy packages and they have the best flee medications. They don’t try to sell you stuff you do not need and the doctor is honest and straight forward! I’m super pleased with this Vet and I’m glad I found him. Can’t wait to try their groomer!(:

We have brought one of our dogs here and just today our smaller dog. We can’t complain as Dr. Trujillo has always given us a thorough explanation of what we brought our dog in for. We are a continuing and satisfied customers.

This hospital is amazing. Always on point. The employees are super nice too :). Wouldn’t go anywhere else but here

We have been taking our pets here for a few years. Dr. Cassidy and Dr Trujillo are top notch. I have read other reviews and don’t quite understand how people expect vets to give a diagnosis without running test. I have taken my pets to less expensive vets and they treat the symptoms rather than the illness.
Our dog stopped eating so we took him in. they said they needed to run test. They ran the test called us immediately and said you need to bring your dog in. We brought him in, they stabilized him and after a few more test they referred us to VCA. Turns out he had Cancer.
They could have told us, he has a tummy ache and left it… Thank you Dr. C!
Shame on all the pet owners that will not spend money on X-​Rays or test to get a proper diagnosis…

Took my Cat Lilly in for the first time explained my issuses I was having with her. The staff was very friendly and took the time to listen to everything that was going on with her. Once I meet Dr Cassidy after looking over what was wrong with Lilly she told me straight up on what we have to do for lilly to get her better, didnt beat around the bush like previous Vets did. She ended up keeping Lilly at the hospital for about 5 days, each day I would go visit her she looked better & better each day. The procedure cost was pretty high at first but Dr Cassidy was kind enough to give me some discounts on my cats visit stay. I DEFINITELY Recommend this place to Any Cat or ANINIMAL LOVER. Great Dr’s and knowledgeable staff ! Love this place. Thank you After hrs animal Hospitals !

I will give them zero star ever! I don’t ever recommend this hospital. they don’t care to your animal health. they more care about money!!! If you don’t have enough money they will let your animal die! All liars. I just go to the different vet and they charged me half of their price!!! What a rip off. they don’t save life, no care and heart @ all. oh well is karma is always round… I jus pray for you all!

This vet is a blessing! Our previous vet became too expensive. We have 3 pugs and as they age they need more care. Both Dr T and Dr Cassidy have been wonderful. The hours here are fantastic! All the staff is friendly and courteous. Definitely recommend. Pet owners all our lives!

Bait and switch! Got the Unilocal deal and they told me it was expired! It is not expired at all. They are pulling a bait and switch. Highly illegal!

I’ve bringing my dogs to After Hours for about 8+ years. In the beginning this place was great. Every time I needed to bring my dog in for an illness, the Vet would actually examine the dog before suggesting treatment and quoting you a price for treatment.
Something began to shift four years ago. As the hospital grew and added other locations, the quality of service and attention to detail began to decline.
On a recent visit, my dog was having stomach problems. The orderly came into the examination room and looked the dog over and asked us to wait for a doctor. The vet then entered the room, looked at the dog and read my dog’s chart and ran down a list of tests to determine what was wrong with my dog.
I was playing it safe by bringing him in but to my dismay, the quote came back with over $ 900 in tests and xrays before determining the how to treat my dog. I had a few questions about the tests but the orderly couldn’t answer them so I asked the for the doctor. The orderly answered that the doctor had completed the examination and that I needed to make a decision based on the information.
I protested to the orderly that I wasn’t going to pay for $ 900 dollars in tests just to determine a line of treatment that would bring that total up considerably. His said there is no way to determine what is wrong with your dog unless he gets tested first.
It’s safe to say that I will not be returning to this dog hospital in the near future. It is also clear to me that as their business has grown, their costs to operate have also grown. To their discredit, this has led their doctors to recommend expensive tests before even examining my dog for what turned out to be an upset stomach with some vomiting and diarrhea which cleared up with a little pepto.
I sure hope your experience is better than mine. To rule out detractors that will say that this was a one-​time thing, I should mention that I fell for that trip twice before for an eye infection treatment and a herniated belly button procedure that cost me an arm and a leg.
Shame on me I guess.

Dr. Cassidy talks about herself, how she was married to an Irish guy, doesn’t want to date younger guys, and how she has a daughter who competes with non Speaking Koreans like it is very disgusting. She also told me how she finds per owners «are very stupid» and yes those are her exact words.
My dog has been very jumpy since he came back from this place from hospitalization without a discharge diagnosis. I also found a hard lump on his left side and redness on the tip of his penis. I asked for a copy of the lab results, they didn’t give me one. I called Dr. Cassidy but she told me to speak with the owner instead which is Dr Trujillo.
I called Dr. Trujillo who wouldn’t even let me talk and the whole conversation was just about him defending Dr. Cassidy. I asked for my dogs admitting diagnosis which he read to me. I asked for the discharge diagnosis he couldn’t give me one. I asked for just whether or not there was a discharge diagnosis, he said he can no longer talk to me and hung up on me. I called again thinking maybe the line was just cut by accident and I was just asked again for Yes or No whether there is a discharge diagnosis because easy would they say my dog is safe to go home if they don’t have a final diagnosis. But then again, he said «you can just complain» then hung up on me once again.
Bottomline: if you care for your pets, Don’t go here.
