Northridge Dental Office and Orthodontics

PROCEED WITH CAUTION. I was referred to this office by a colleague who swore by this dentist office, I’m new to California so I took her word for it. Upon arriving to this location I noticed how nice the building was and the interior was also appealing to the eye. The receptionist was exceptionally friendly and patient given the fact that I had to call my insurance company for my info. I was called back for X-​rays surprisingly fast, and she to (x-​Ray tech) was Friendly. It’s wasn’t until my actual dentist (Sarah) came in that I start feeling uncomfortable. Before she even examined my teeth she was on the roll trying to tell me all the work that I needed done totaling close to 2000 $. She kept mentioning that I had really good insurance so there’s nothing to worry about. Mind you I was there for over an hour with no full examination, no teeth cleaning … Long story short I know for a fact that she was «fast talking me». Trying to get me to do more than what’s needed. I left before the front desk person could bring me the breakdown of all the «extra work» I so called needed. If you go DONT FALL FOR THEIR MONEY HUNGRY ANTICS. I made an appointment elsewhere to get a second opinion. It’s so obvious that they can care less about the integrity of your teeth and more about the money.

One word SCAM … how do you leave a dentist office for your first visit and they don’t even give you a regular clean and the dentist barely even touched your teeth??? Where they do that at ???
This place is a joke I went with my girlfriend and the dentist came up with all these things that were wrong with her teeth that she had never heard from any prior dentist.
They are selling you a hope and dream and that’s it. Pretty much no dreams or hopes though just a high ass bill.

Definitely that. They don’t even compare to a normal dental office.
They are here for the money and the money alone. Do yourself a favor and find a real dentist who won’t waste your time or your money.

1^st time 1÷25÷16 it was great 1hr got everything done not like West Coast Dental 2 hr wait just to get Xrays 45 to clean my teeth. Northridge Dental was great I like this place Dr K was great

Horrible. Money hungry and uncaring. Today told my fiancé it would be $ 4,000 for treatment, above insurance. That’s for 1 tooth only. Then refused to provide pain medicine because he saw nothing wrong. That doesn’t even go into the rude way he spoke to him during the exam.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS OFFICE.

Everyone at this office for the most part is very nice. Keep in mind this is not a family run dental office. This is owned by a corporation who’s goal is to make the most $$$ possible. I’ve had appointments that have gone very well. When I say very well, I mean, the dentist was very gentle and explained everything to me. I have had appointments where they did not explain what was going to happen and before I knew it, I had needles, drills and lots of blood coming out of my mouth and it was very traumatizing. I have to say, the dental assistant named Steven is the best and very supportive to someone who is very nervous when it comes to going to the dentist. All i ask is for honesty, great communication, so I know what is happening, and for the dentist to be very gentle.
The reason I am writing this review is because of the experience my wife had. She was told that she needed gum surgery. Full disclosure– She has never ever had 1 single problem with her gums. The «gum specialist» was in the office that day, so they said he would give her an exam free of charge. Before she knew it, he’s pricking and poking her, reading off #‘s for each tooth. Long story short, he said she need $ 2,500 worth of gum surgery that would be very painful. The way he acted while he was talking to us, I knew he was lying. He didn’t want to really explain anything. The second he left the room, a girl came in to explain the charges and to get the surgery scheduled. We said that we were going to get a second opinion. They got very defensive and already started to try and re-​negotiate the charges. I got pretty upset, because I knew something was fishy and we left pretty damn fast.
A week later, my wife went to get a second opinion. She went to a family run dentist that came highly recommended. We did not tell him anything except for the fact she was there to get a second opinion. After he checked her out, he said to her «I’m dying to hear what your last dentist said, because you are fine». I told him what the gum dentist said and he completely 100% disagreed. He read off the #‘s he came up with and they were completely different than the #‘s from the week before. He even showed us her gums with a camera he had. He said that he worked for an office that was owned by a large corporation and that is one of their biggest money makers and they push their dentists to up sale these kind of procedures
The fact that Northridge Dental Office, knows how nervous me and my wife get about dental appointments and know how much having dental procedures affect us, they still cared about making money for a procedure she didn’t even need.
I also want to say Dr. Garfinkle is very nice and gentle. He seems very honest and I know he would not make me or my wife go through a procedure that we did not need. I can’t say the same for the lying gum specialist. (I don’t remember his name). Be careful with him!
Like I said before, they are VERY nice and they have great dentists there. I’m not saying to not go there. My advise is to get a second opinion when they come up with a very expensive procedure that you might not need.
God luck and please get a second opinion if you don’t feel comfortable. It saved me lots of $ and not having to go through a very traumatic event.

I recently had 6 veneers done on my front teeth and let me tell you I love them! Dr. Garfinkle and the rest of the staff are amazing. I never thought going to the dentist would be such a great experience. Thank you for being such an awesome team. I will definitely be referring my friends and family here

NDO is a wonderful establishment. The staff is so helpful and kind. They really make you feel like family. They make the whole experience enjoyable, even for kids. I would recommend them to anyone.

Everyone at this location is very welcoming and friendly, they will make you feel at home! When I arrived the staff was very quick at getting me started with the dental work. Unlike most places, here I felt they actually cared and wanted to help me. I came in for a deep clean and they were sure to really take their time and assuring I was leaving satisfied. I definitely recommend this place and will be returning!

I’m a long time customer of Dr. Jelson Yalung. He had worked on my braces for 2.5 years and I am more than satisfied about how my teeth look. The atmosphere in the office is always welcoming and they make you feel right at home. My overall experience in the office has been amazing.

Had a great visit there last week the dr was such a sweetheart. I cannot remember his name but he was very adorable and slightly balding. Love thee mood of the staff n to die for music had a FAB time!

My review is specific to the Specialty of Orthodontics as my primary dentist is located in San Jose. You wonder, San Jose? Northridge? Well. I live in San Jose and see my primary dentist there, however, my Orthodontist is Dr. Jelson Yalung in Northridge.
Why did I choose Dr. Yalung in Northridge rather than an orthodontist in San Jose to put metal throughout my mouth? And travel every 4 – 6 weeks to LA just to get adjusted and my teeth clenched in tighter by a wire? Well, let’s breakdown the reasons why…
1) Dr. Yalung’s office staff is very accommodating and professional. They’re all dressed professionally and were well versed and knowledgeable about the procedures that would be performed on me. They are friendly and straight forward with all my visits.
2) Dr. Yalung’s office is quite technologically advanced. Majority of things can be done online, I receive e-​mails and texts reminders of my appointments. And they’re quite flexible in getting you seen.
3) Dr. Yalung is very concerned and knowledgeable in his expertise. He made me feel comfortable trusting my crooked teeth to him and trust that he would make my teeth come out pearly white and straight! He is very personable and professional with an approach towards perfection. I am confident that within a year my teeth will be perfect. If not, I’ll be sure to update this review.
4) Dr. Yalung was highly recommended by other family members who received braces treatment from him and well, their teeth were very nice, and naturally straight. Can’t argue there.
5) The office location is located in an area that has plenty of other shops, but finding parking hasn’t ever been an issue. Plus they have awesome Keurig coffee for us in the waiting room.
So I guess it isn’t too bad to kill 2 bird with 1 stone get great orthodontic care and visit family every once in a while or get ortho care, and be a hermit and never visit family.
I choose get away from the bay for a bit and be a bit more extroverted. =)
So far, I’m please with my care and would continue my care with him and for any future orthodontic treatments I may need to receive.

I recently had some tooth pain, I thought I would need a filling. It turned out I needed a crown. I was able to get the crown put on that day, and the office offered me monthly payments, since it was a surprise cost. The dentist was very gentle and everyone took their time to explain what was going on. From the girls up front to the dentist the stress was taken out of the visit for me.

Dr. Sediq and Dr. Jelson Yalung were gentle, funny, and the most kindest docs I’ve had in a long time. The front office was very pleasant, attentive, and the wait was no more than 10 minutes. I was a little hesitant to start a new relationship with new docs, but now I know I have found my permanent dentistry office. Highly recommend this place for all your dental needs.

I have been seeing Dr Garfinkle for about a year now. I’ve had my fair share of money grubbing dentists in the past, which made it refreshing to have a dentist that understands the fine line between a necessary treatment, vs. what could wait. He has always been very clear to explain both options to me clearly, so I’m always properly informed when I make my decision.
The office staff has always greeted me with a smile, from the X-​ray technicians to the dental assistants that I’ve interacted with in the past have always been friendly and upbeat. The last procedure I had done, I was able to use their financing plans that spread the cost over a few months that allowed me to still make ends meet. thanks Northridge Dental!

What awesome attention to their patients!!! Today I had some work done (tooth extraction) and I was taken care of from the time I walked in till I was out the door. The entire staff there is incredible!!!

This a great office and the staff is excellent!
