They are either written by her bf, friends or herself. Michelle menjivar is a teacher from CSUN. She teaches communication studies. She is anti-​white, racist and anti police. Menjivar: Look School is not a place for you to encourage racism, call for communist revolution, and spread hates.

This review is for Michelle Menjivar who teaches communication studies. I will give her negative star if i can. As a teacher, miss Menjivar misuses that role to attempt to influence students’ political views! It’s an abuse of that authority to sway political views! She spends too much time during school hours to express her political stance! The tuition is 1200 for one class. I will sue her for refund my tuition back in the end of this semester. The money that I paid is for me to learn English instead of being brain washed by her! She uses school as a vehicle to influence students. She is BLM activist btw, which is for promoting hatred and division. To parents, will you send your kids to such a libertard school? They will learn nothing but bunch of bullish**

CSUN is a great school with amazing professors and great scenery. I learned many interesting things in the classes I’ve taken here. The two main problems in CSUN are parking and solicitors. If you have a 9 am class, you better be there at least an hour early. Finding a parking spot after 9 is very tough. It is also very hard avoiding solicitors around campus. Many of them are annoying and/​or are involved in fraudulent activities. CSUN needs to do more to drive these types of people out of our campus.

My Alma mater! I love this school. The campus is beautiful and the faculty was awesome. I graduated with my Bachelors in Political Science. The whole Social Science department was fantastic. I want to go back and get my Masters!

I’ve been at glorious Cal State Northridge for 5 years now and will be taking the stage this May.
Campus: the campus is fairy large with lots of greenery. It’s easy to get around and get directions around campus. There are not many shady areas to sit and have lunch. There is a nice duck pond to check out during a lunch break, but there is not much seating there.
Food: there are three main areas to grab some food: arbor grill, bookstore complex, and Sierra center. I am not a fan of any of the food on campus so I can’t review the quality of the food.
Parking: parking is bad. Nuff said. If you don’t get to campus by 10am, you will not be able to find any parking till around 2pm. Daily parking will cost you $ 6. Semester parking will cost you $ 180. Parking enforcement is highly followed here. You will see them roaming around parking lots giving out tickets to cars who don’t have their parking stickers.
Amenities: there is a wonderful gym that is open to students and faculty members. It is included in tuition, so take advantage of it. There are also shows that take place in the USU during lunch hours that can be entertaining to watch. Recently, an oasis wellness center opened where there are nap pods and other services to enjoy for relaxation.
All in all, it’s a great commuter school to attend. There are great aspects to this campus that you can’t miss out on.

They are of no help in finding work. They actually misinform you about how to find work in your profession. They discourage you from pursuing your dreams. Teacher’s actually choose your life’s work for what they think you would be best at. They are not business related and provide little to no advice for preparation for your career. Teachers were not up on current technology.

I love this school. The campus is beautiful, the diversity is incredible and they have great resources for their students. Here are some important goods and bass about the school:
The good:
1. The diversity: When I first came here, I was hoping that their would be a great diversity of religion and cultures. I was happy to find that. I have made great friends from all races and including from outside of this country. I’m very happy for that.
2. The resources: Although some people complain that they don’t have everything for their students, for me they pretty much have everything. A gym (although I don’t go there), a learning disability center for students. Clubs and organizations from Greek life to sports and others. A great range of stuff for students to use. Especially the library.
3. Campus: It’s really beautiful. I love walking on campus, even the dorm area when I used to live there. They take great pride in taking care of CSUN.
4. Departments: CSUN’s departments for their majors are really good. They have a lot of events for each major, tutors, workshops you name it!
Bad:
1. Tuition: It’s way to high, and it gets higher every year. You’d expect with the economy in the toilet and the amount of students that can barely afford CSUN, it wouldn’t be that high. Wrong. They always build brand new things that they don’t really need and we pay the price for it… literally.
2. Can they update the Pan African Department: Seriously, where all the Pan African Studies teachers have their offices, it literally looks like an jail cell. No joke. I’ve been told when segregation was still in place, that was the building they used for blacks only. Honestly, they could make it look modern and presentable like all the other buildings.
3. SRC: The new gym is cool and all, but it’s way to busy and I have to wait forever to use a machine. I don’t go there anymore.
I mean I could go on and on, but those are some of the things that I wanted to say. Overall, I had my best memories here at CSUN, and I’m so happy for them. I made some of the best friends you can ask for as well. With that and my education, I’m glad I went here.

Close to home and cheaper than other places. I used to and still have some decent pride in my school but a lot of changes need to be made. Some of the professors in the Social Work department are kept on because of their time there and because at times it is hard to find certain teachers with certain backgrounds, but they end up being the worst professors to learn from. It is kind of sad that they will be kept on even though they are not teaching their students much.
Others have their own agenda and steer away from their teaching agenda to teach their own stuff. ugh

some staff members are cool, while others are not so much. Certain programs are biased and make me want to run for the door.
I hate that during the summer semesters, the food stores on campus are closed. People get hungry during summer too, you know?
other than that, cheaper than other schools and closet to my place, so ill take it.

So far I have been attending CSUN for a little over a month and have enjoyed everyday here. The entire staff from custodial to professors are professional and do a excellent job in keeping the campus a great learning zone. There is also help available for literally everything, so it is almost impossible to fail as long as you put in the effort and seek out the help.
The view of the entire campus is amazing. The oviatt library being the largest and nicest building can be seen from nearly everywhere on campus. The lawns all over the school are clean and allow for outdoor study sessions and a place to relax. The matador statue located on campus also gives off a sense of pride and beauty that reflects the entire school.
Now that the school has become a smoke-​free campus the air is fairly clean. Also the large amount of trees and other plants allow for a fresher and cleaner smell in the air. Even the areas near food courts smell good, either with the smell of coffee or food being cooked. There is really no where on campus that offers a negative scent. The entire campus has clean air and a fresh smell along with the school being very clean.
CSUN is one of the nicest college campuses i have seen, it offers much to the student body. The campus is beautiful and contains professional staff to help all students. It is also a smoke free environment now allowing for cleaner air and less distractions to the students. There is also great food and views from nearly every point on campus.

As I was going through high school I always said CSUN was my very last choice. Like I said i would rather go to a community college before I would end up at CSUN. Now that I am a freshman, I have defiantly changed my mind on this place. It makes it’s students feel very safe. Coming in as a freshmen, it was almost like having a safe new start after getting out of high school. You don’t feel judged and most professors don’t hold the standard of «I don’t care if you pass my class or not», they are willing to help you understand what you need to know but the only thing you have to do is ask for help.
The campus is very clean. You really can’t see any trash on the floor or roaming around with the wind. All the buildings look like they belong together. They all look like one even though they are all different colors and shapes, they all match each other very well. The campus it’s self is very well put together.
Now let’s talk food. There are a lot of places on campus to get food but my favorite one is the Sierra Center. They have such a variety of food it is amazing. I personally like the Chinese food the best there. Their chow main doesn’t taste like the one from panda, it almost tastes like it is home made. Their orange chicken and their mushroom chicken are the best thing they have. Their mushroom chicken tastes like this soup my mom makes, with a lot of veggies and the chicken. Over all the food at CSUN is really good.
CSUN is a very fresh place. There is a lot of trees around and it smells amazing when they first cut the grass. That is my favorite time to be outside. There is many smells at this school. Each building that i am at smells different, Like when you are on the 4^th floor of the library all you can smell is the old books. I just want to grab one and take the smell in. Over this school beat all the expectation I had for college.

I absolutely adored my 5 years at CSUN.
The campus is fairly clean, they provide bike racks for riders and the food isn’t too shabby. I believe they recently became a «smoke free» campus as well!
Our gym is one of the main attractions to this campus, in my opinion.
It was recently built and provides rock climbing, a track field and weight rooms. There’s also a swimming pool next to the gym with cabanas for students to relax after a long day of studying.
Our library was used as the backdrop for many movies. There’s 4 floors and the first floor was renovated last year to become a more studious and modern setting. During the summer, CSUN hosts movie nights in the front of the library. The movie nights are fun, creative and family friendly.
VPAC is also a fairly new building where many guest celebrities, including James Franco, spoke to students.
There’s lots of food options at every section of the campus. If those restaurants aren’t intriguing enough, students can just walk across the street to grab a wide variety of ethnic food.
Parking is horrible, but not as bad as other CSU’s. My friends from Fullerton said there’s usually a line of cars by stairs,
The thing I love the most, are the many events that CSUN hosts for the students. Matador Nights, Big Show and the various excuses that the school uses to give students free food. EX: start of semester freebies, midterms/​finals giveaways and end of the semester fun.
CSUN was great to me in these past 5 years. Yes, we had our scandals and troubles like other schools, but the good definitely outweighs the bad. I’m a proud matador and I miss this campus!

I’m a Junior at CSUN, and I’m also an older student (39) so I might have a different perspective on this school as opposed to an 18 – 21 year old.
My first comment is on the quality of education. I have actually attended a few other schools and I can say that the quality of education here isn’t that different from others. You get out of it what you put in. Many of the Professors are adjuct which means they are part-​time. I would say that 75% of my professors also teach at other Universities including UCLA and USC. So for people who think a CSU education is sub par doesn’t know what they’re talking about. Nowadays many professors actually teach at multiple schools. So what anyone is really paying for is the designer label of the school, not a better education. CSUN is perfectly fine. I’m getting the same USC and UCLA professors for a small % off the price. That’s a total score in my book.
The parking here DOES suck majorly, but it did at my community college as well. Colleges and Universities have notoriously bad parking during popular class hours which are usually 10am-​1pm. If you don’t have your first class until that time — then you have to stalk people in the parking lot and have to wait for someone to practically DIE before you get a spot. Otherwise, all the other hours of the day are a cinch and not a big deal. It’s all about timing.
The campus isn’t beautiful in a «traditional» university way, but it’s well laid out and it’s very obvious that CSUN is always actively trying to improve itself. Some of the buildings are really beautiful and state of the art. The parks are pretty and the student health club is totally amazing. There’s some minor crime in the area but the same exists at other Los Angeles schools (hello USC!) You just have to be careful and always make smart choices, especially at night.
Overall I’m very happy with my choice and the fact that I transferred here from another (private) University. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because I’m an Art History major, and this is a department that lacks size and organization. CSUN is mostly a business school and the arts they excel in are more theater/​film/​music. Not Art History. So if you’re an Art History major, I would suggest looking elsewhere if you’re able. =/​

While I studied for my first bachelors here, I was very happy with the quality of education that I received from my amazing professors. Because of the small class sizes I was able to have one-​on-​one conversations with my professors.
However, if I had to rate to this on everything but the professors, I would give this school one star. In admissions, it’s like the blind leading the blind. No one could (and still can’t) answer any of my questions, telling me that I have to back to the particular department where they can help me. If I go back to my department, they tell me to go talk to admissions. It’s an uninfirmative loop.
Counselors could only provide me with an «atta-​boy» attitude but absolutely no guidance for the next step in my education.
The alumni program is horrendous. There is no alumni community. It is simply a bunch of old Matadors who never went far in their majors and are now realtors trying to drum up business in order to sell their San Fernando Valley overpriced real estate.
Whenever I reach out to this school for advice as I’m currently looking into a graduate degree, everybody I’ve spoken to is quick to get me off the phone or pass me off to another person who can’t answer my questions.
Their career days are a joke. Literally. The companies they bring in aren’t hiring, or are looking for interns to work for free.
The worst part is the incessant phone calls I get from CSUN asking for donations. They can’t assist me but they have no problem asking for my money.
I have since moved on to other degrees, and other careers. I have built up two businesses and have had many accomplishments. I owe that success to other universities.
So if you are thinking of going to CSUN, set your sights higher. Look into other schools. Talk to the admissions departments. If those schools are eager to answer your questions and check back with you, more than likely they will be there for you beyond your degree.
Oh, and don’t even get me started on the parking.

5 stars CSUN! I received my bachelors degree recently and my experience here was positive. I will comment on 3 areas that will give you some insight from my point of view. Unilocal didn’t let me write more lol This review is mostly for new students. Briefly, I transferred to CSUN and had to commute from downtown LA. There is certain areas of the school/​services I can’t comment since I never used them. For example, I never visited the gym, dorms, and theater. Also, all my classes were in small rooms and not lecture halls. I will try to be as honest as possible in the following sections and what I went through.
Registration: After reading some of the reviews here I noticed alot of complaining when it comes to getting classes. It’s true. I believe the students that get the earliest registration dates are those who are involved in sports. BS! If I had the time I would be in sports just so I could get my classes but that wasn’t the case. When you receive your registration date and time make sure you have already added your classes to your cart so when the time comes you click the add button. Have a list of other classes you can take so you can add if the ones your originally wanted are full. In my first semester I was able to take the classes I needed. Towards the last year here things got a bit complicated. I would strongly suggest you do not fail a class because it will be hard to get that class again. Especially if that class is a prerequisite towards another class you will be stuck. Once school starts some teachers will add you if you are on their waiting list based on the school system. Most likely if you are not on the waiting list you won’t be added. I understand that you have the right to have more classes because of tuition but that’s the way the system is currently. The problem I see is that students need to be more demanding to the chair of the department and dean so more classes can be available. Also, if you do get a class don’t drop it weeks later unless your dog died or something. Many times I would see at least 2 students drop out and I would feel sorry for those students who wanted to get in but couldn’t. I also noticed some people here complaining about the class schedules and balancing with work. If you do not work that’s great but if you must work there is ways to get around it. Honestly, you have to do what you have to do. In my situation I had to work overnight 40 hours a week and go to school. Aside from that I also had to take care of my young daughter and balance my schedule with hers. You can do it!
Services: CSUN offers many services ranging from mental services to dieticians. I didn’t really explore the services but I did see a doctor when I had some pain. They also offer other services such as acupuncture and massages. What I did not like about seeing the doctor was the time it took to be seen. The appointments get taken fast and usually you will be seen 2 to 3 weeks later. Might as well die no? lol Also, there is certain services that will charge you a fee if you do not show up. So show up! Most of the services are free. You pay for this with your tuition. Take advantage of it at least once.
Parking: OMG the parking is terrible here. OMG why can’t they build a new structure. Are you kidding me? Where do you want them to build it? On top of the library or something ?! Yes, you pay parking fees. Yes, its $ 180 a semester. I think the parking situation occurs in most schools. It happened at the community college I attended. What do you expect if most people have a car. Even if CSUN were to build more structures it would be a couple of blocks and students would still complain they have to take a shuttle or its too far. I understand you. I have been in your shoes. I drove a car and I struggled. My suggestion is you arrive early. That’s it. Yes, that means waking up at 6am depending on how far you live and how much time it takes you to get ready. If your class starts at 9am wake up at 6am. By the time you get there I’ll be 8am. You won’t suffer. Now if your class is at 9am and you show up at 845am forget it. Plan your trip! Just be responsible and you will go through the process easily. If you want to park on the street you can but you still have to arrive early because the spaces get taken quickly.
Overall I recommend CSUN. Go get your education because you can do it!

Yo, can we PLEASE do something about the parking situation?
It took me over half an hour to find parking these past few days.
I’ve heard that it’s because it’s just the first week of school, where students actually «try» to attend classes and that it’ll get better but can we please use the $$ that we have for MORE PARKING STRUCTURES.
Lemme tell you this, I had to park at f10 parking lot by the dorms which is 30 mins walking distance away from my class. Not to mention that it was 99 degrees today so by the time I got to class it looked like I had just taken a shower.
There was unnecessary parking enforcement and police officers everywhere too?
Why do we need an Oasis wellness center? I mean the napping pods are cool and all but that $ should be going to what we NEED.
Parking structures please.

It’s a tough life, but it doesn’t have to be this tough.

Five stars, because it’s my Alma Mater. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree here in 2007. Had some of the greatest and exciting times of my life here at Film School. The Film and Television programs here are very enlightening and the professors are motivating and truly are passionate for this medium. I love coming back just to walk around the halls of Manzanita, because it makes me nostalgic, plus the art gallery of old movie posters is always a delight to see. Now I can walk around and take it all in, instead of just rushing passed them on the way to class.
Even though I am part of the alumni at CSUN, I like to take walks around here. It’s a commuter school, so it’s not always so busy, which I like. Sometimes I take my dog here to walk and run around (and of course I make sure I clean up after him). It’s a very peaceful campus during summer and I love just taking casual strolls around.

I have a love hate relationship with this school. They have great social clubs and great amenities … Some of their classes are cool… One thing that I admire the most about csun is how far they have come along and how much their student associations have helped their school improve… Their solar systems and green everything is pretty admirable but unfortunately they don’t value their students at all… There are many programs put in place that are great but unfortunately over population out ways them all … They are not so much focused on the quality of their education as much as they are focused on getting students in and out … Sorry to see this being such a waste

This review is a little bit over due, but better late than never.
I think CSUN is constantly trying to improve their curriculum, class rooms, parking and overall campus and building designs. They are under rated for what they offer and deserve a lot more credit than what is given.
The professors here, for the most part, are great and willing to work with each student. Most of them are not full time professors, so they may not have the office hours they would like to help each of their students, but the effort to accommodate is certainly there.
The curriculum was challenging for most of my business courses and definitely didn’t have any free-​bees. I had to earn my undergraduate degree through blood sweat and tears… mostly tears though! :)
I was in a rush to get out, but miss the days of being at CSUN. I met a lot of great people along the way and established lasting relationships with a few of my professors and fellow students.
Tuition is expensive, but I can say with certainty that I would not be at this point in my career had I not received my undergraduate degree. Of course, its hard work, networking and other components that have helped me along the way, but my degree was the foundation.
Only difficult part was trying to get into the classes I need. Sometimes I attended classes every day without knowing if they will have space to add me. Just stayed persistent about it.

I have attended and visited many universities (top tier, community, research, liberal arts… the gamut) and I have to say that CSUN is one my favorite universities.
1) It is clean. For an institution that handles thousands of people a day, it is rare find litter anywhere on campus. No, it doesn’t have the «East Coast brick» feel and look that some other schools in So. Cal. have (eg UCLA or USC), but in its modern and California style architecture, CSUN is as pristine and organized as it gets.
2) Unlike larger research universities, CSUN students can actually interact with professors on a consistent basis. The majority of instructors have PhDs and most have real-​world experience in their respective fields which is often better than the theoretical emphasis found in some other universities.
3) The student body is diverse in terms of culture. Students get a real opportunity to meet, socialize, and study with students from entirely different cultures than their own. There is certainly less cultural segregation at CSUN than at other So. Cal universities.
4) It isn’t too large of a campus or too small. It might take a person 15 – 20 minutes to walk from one end of campus to the other (depending on one’s pace and direction taken, of course). The buildings feel evenly-​spaced and designed with inetention. All this gives a person a feeling of belonging to an academic, yet intimate university institution.
5) If you are an ambitious undergrad student, you might have a much greater chance of benefitting from the research, financial, and social opportunities at CSUN than you might at other universities where the competition is FIERCE. You might want to consider that CSUN might offer a calmer and safer environment to achieve academic, social, and career success without the negatives of intense and anxiety producing competition.

CSUN wasn’t my first choice. It’sn’t for many people who come here. But the majority individuals who do come to CSUN do not either regret it. It really breaks my heart that CSUN, as a state that is public, is underestimated in so many aspects.
Just because CSUN accepts everyone eligible within the district and serves as a «back up» college does not mean it isn’t as good as one other tier that is top or UCs.
So to all of the college applicants out there, i’d the same as to offer a bit of advise. Choose a university that best fits your needs and passions. The college in which your degree is famous and accredited for. And in some majors/​careers going to a CSU is better than a UC so please don’t let college title and prestige influence your decision in choosing a university. In the long run, it truly doesn’t matter where you go unless you went along to some top private IV League class. It is really what you put in that issues
As for CSUN, the campus is loved by me. It’s beautiful and clean! Be aware of squirrels though! Parking can be a real problem that is big 11 — 2 pm. But alternatively of whining, simply come early. Even while belated as 10 am can give you time that is enough space for parking. The majority of the professors have actually been helpful. Loving the therefore far, lets see how well it goes 12 months.
Oviatt Library and the Student Recreation Center, the gymnasium that is brand new are just wonderful!

I got my bachelor’s degree here and I’m coming back for my master’s so it can’t be all that horrible.
Parking can be horrible at times, so prepare for that. Especially the first couple of weeks of school. If you don’t get to campus until around noon be prepared to stalk people to their spots because that is how you’re going to find parking. It’s crazy expensive too; $ 6 per day or $ 180 per semester?! Isn’t my tuition enough for you people?
I took mostly Psych classes here, so I can only speak for those professors, but I found them pretty helpful. The most important thing you have to remember here is to be your own advocate. Community colleges will hold your hand but this place you need to jump up and down and wave your hands.
Getting classes in my degree, the most popular one on campus, was always a struggle. You need to register the very second you’re allowed to, classes go fast! They’ve got a very good selection of online classes here. Moodle is pretty easy to use.
Financial aid is perhaps the worst thing about CSUN. I’ve had issues with them almost every semester and the people there aren’t the most helpful. You gotta be pushy with them or they’ll just walk all over you. I’m currently going back and forth with these people and FAFSA. They’re both pointing fingers at each other, but meanwhile my credit cards are suffering.

Un gros point cœur pour ce campus universitaire qui fait passer votre propre campus universitaire pour ridicule mais surtout … Minuscule. Et pourtant j’étais étudiante a Paris XII et le campus était déjà assez grand ! Mais la, le campus de CSUN est tout simplement immense.
J’ai eu la chance d’y vivre lorsque je travaillais a Los Angeles. J’habitais l’immeuble Carragheen Hall. Il y a de nombreux immeubles dédiés au logement, assez grands chacun. Il y a des rues dans le campus, deux piscines, des tonnes d’immeubles de cours, des boutiques, des restaurants. A la sortie du campus, il y a des mcdo, tacobell, et autres supermarchés.
Le campus est très très animé car même en période estivale, les étrangers travaillant dans les alentours viennent remplacer les étudiants qui sont là tout au long de l’année, voire même se mêler a eux lorsque ces derniers ont raté leurs examens et doivent revenir sur le campus plus tôt pour les summer sessions.
Il y a TOUJOURS des fêtes, des pool party, des laundry party (oui oui) et l’ambiance est géniale! Il y a des diffusions de films dans les halls des bâtiments certains soirs.
Les appartements sont géniaux. Moi qui imaginais avoir un dortoir avec une chambre riquiqui, c’était un vrai appartement de 80m2 avec un balcon, deux grandes chambres et une cuisine américaine toute équipée immense. Le tout pour 150 $ la semaine.
Tout ça représente un grand 5 étoiles! :D

It makes me really sad to see such horrible reviews about CSUN ! First off all, like any other business in this country, you get what you pay for!
Let me just say, counselors are not going to hand you everything and hold your hand all the way through. You are in college, you are an adult, prepare yourself. I went to a counselor ONE time throughout my college years just to have her approve my plan for my last undergrad year! Research, read, and plan yourself.
I recently graduated with my bachelor of science degree in marketing and let me just say. I have learned soooo much. CSUN’s business department prepares you very well on how to work in groups and how to handle situations in a real life business organization. For just marketing I worked with over 10 teams to create business plans that were over 25 pages each.
We also worked with real clients like FOX and the Haitian ministry of tourism. I have other friends at UC’s who want to get into marketing and don’t even know what a SWOT analysis is or the 4P’s of marketing are, which are basic principals.
Along with that, I have had some pretty amazing professors who are passionate about what they do and love having relationships with students. I also have never had a problem with the staff! They’ve always gone out of their way to make sure I get what I need
Let me just say, CSUN is what you make out of it. I walk away from csun with not just a Degree but ive had 3 internships and over 3 jobs. Having the education that csun has given me on top of all that has made me confident about my career life. Just a degree won’t get you anywhere, Not just from CSUN but from any school. (Unless it’s Ivy League). So if you’re here to just go to school and chill, life will most likely not go too well for you.
I’ve never had trouble with parking idk what people are saying!
The only thing I really have to complain about is the food! Other than the amazing juice bar, CSUN needs way healthier food options!
Other than that I will forever miss my wonderful days at CSUN and I’m excited to eventually update this review to see how far my degree has taken me :)
