Full Throttle Riding Academy

I went in hoping for a high level of safety.
I was worried about my own skill, other bad drivers, road hazards, weather, mechanical malfunctions …
My instructors were Jason and Peter.
I was blown away by how much they focused on both safety and the science of how to be safe. physics, driver psychology, how to be seen, the works, It was fantastic.
Both instructors have very different teaching styles that created the perfect mixture.
They started us out as if each of us knew nothing and had never worked a clutch.
They never rushed us, and they took all of us to the point where we were doing, tight U-​turns, emergency stops, stops in a curve, crossing debris, emergency swerves …
In the end we were all very comfortable doing the skills and the test.
They teach so many more facts, details and safety nuggets than required.
If you are worried about being safe on a bike, this is the course for you.

I got the Groupon going in curious as to whether I want to ride motorcycles or not. After two days of mostly riding motorcycles I can say that this was an AWESOME experience! Curdy is a crass alpha who can put you off at first, but after a little while he shows his true colors as an excellent instructor and caring individual: he really cares that the people on the road are safe and skilled in motorcycle riding.
Highly recommended even if you are just curious!

Buyer beware, dubious business practices and poor customer care, particularly on their policies regarding rescheduling. I pre-​purchased a Groupon for the basic rider course and scheduled it. The night before I was scheduled to take the course a massive snow storm hit the mountains and I was not able to make out of the mountains to the course. I even called the night before to give them a heads up, that I probably will not make it due to the blizzard conditions and road closures. When I called the next day to reschedule they said I would need to pay a $ 95 rescheduling fee, even after acknowledging that the cause for missing the course was due to weather.
While it looks like those that take the course have had great experiences, regrettably I will not share those due to their draconian rigor around rescheduling fees. It would appear that this company seizes any opportunity to recoup their Groupon discount, beware. If you do choose to attend this course, make sure you get there at any cost or personal sacrifice.

I just finished my basic rider course at Full Throttle and I thought it was great. I had only a few hours on a motorcycle so was fairly inexperienced. The on motorcycle training quickly brought up my confidence and skills on the bike. The exercises of the course are laid out in a nice progression to build all the basic skills you need to hit the street. The rider coaching was positive and spot on. My riding coach broke me of a few habits I picked up from mountain/​road biking that don’t work well on a motorcycle.
The course room portion was taught by Jason and he gave a colorful presentation of the information filled with additional tips and opinions on various topics based off of his years of riding and racing experience. Some of it was rather sobering and got me to think about doing the right thing and not giving in to peer pressure. I’ll definitely be a better rider because of this course.

These guys are the greatest. I took the two day weekend course and then came back again for a refresher before I bought my bike. Shaundell and Jason we’re both fantastic teachers, answered all my questions and helped me pick the right motorcycle. I owe you guys a lot.

I took this class with no prior motorcycle riding experience and absolutely had a great, informative time. I felt really prepared after the course and have been so stoked on being able to ride my new bike. Jason is passionate about what he does, easy to follow, and a very good teacher, plus the staff is super friendly and I recommend this place to friends all the time.

You want to RIDE GO HERE THEY ARE THE BEST. They spend the time to make you comfortable with a motorcycle you will get a workout physical and metal. But it’s worth every penny !!! My only complaint is after sitting on motorcycle for 4 or 5 hours you go back to class and there chairs are hard !! on your sore behind. (I know big baby).
All that aside I recommend this to anyone who wants to drive any 2 wheeled motorcycle or scooter.

Ditto to pretty much everything said here. Jason is the real deal. He is incredibly passionate about people, bikes, and safely combining the two.
Jason’s story of how he transitioned from racing to teaching is awe-​inspiring. A true reflection of how deep his passion is. When it comes to actually training his riders, he throws the book away (with a «you will die if you only follow this» air) and actually teaches you how to RIDE. And not die.
You will absolutely not regret taking this class.

Just got done with the Basic Riding Course with Jason Curdy and Wes Hale today. I was thoroughly impressed with the combination of actual professional racing experience, professionalism, crucial knowledge, and FUN that these guys manage to incorporate into every aspect of the instructional program. Even coming in with riding experience for a pre-​endorsement refresher, this was thoroughly informative and entertaining. These guys know their stuff, and you will learn a lot and make lots of new friends along the way. Everyone should have the riding and safety knowledge you’ll gain from this class before playing in traffic on two wheels. This phenomenal experience could save your life. Don’t be a dumb-ass…just do it.

My wife gave me a Groupon for the Basic Riders Course that I finally had a chance to use this past weekend. I am so glad I did! What a great experience! I had ridden before, but it has been about 20 years and I was very rusty. The professional instructors at Full Throttle made it so easy to learn the basics, and practice critical skills.
Our class was broken into two groups. Our group went out with Jiri, while the other group went with Jason (the owner and lead instructor). We started with classroom sessions on both days, and then went out to the course to practice our skills. The group was a mix of never before riders, to relatively new riders.
Jiri was such a great instructor. He made learning very fun, while helping to reinforce key learnings. The new riders as well as the slightly experienced riders all shared how happy we were with the class.
If you are considering taking a motorcycle class, I highly recommend you go to Full Throttle. These folks are very professional and they use great equipment!

Great school to learn how to ride or as a refresher if you have been away from motorcycles for a while. Lots of time at the range and the instructors make sure you have mastered the exercises and help you break bad habits and learn techniques that you may not have been exposed to or taught.
We rode 30 miles over the 2 day course and that is a lot of riding on a range just a little bigger than a football field.

I can’t recommend Full Throttle or Jason Curdy enough. Not only was the training top notch, but the staff were clearly passionate, patient, and dedicated to what they do. I’ve been thinking about learning to ride for as long as I could remember and I’m glad I finally pulled the trigger with Full Throttle.
I received expert training over the two day weekend course, as well as personal advice regarding my own capabilities. Jason was ready and willing to discuss suitable bikes appropriate for my skill level, budget, and riding style. It’s clear he’s incredibly skilled, knowledgable, and committed to ensuring safety and making sure his students are well equipped to deal with everything they’ll face when they leave his classroom and range.

I found a groupon for Full Throttle’s Basic Riding Course and was originally hesitant about what this course would offer. When I arrived the first day, the rider coaches split our group of 20 – 25 people into two groups. One group stayed in the classroom while the other group (the group I was in) headed over to an empty parking lot two blocks away where motorcycles were set up and ready to ride. I didn’t know I’d be riding right away so I was stoked and I appreciated that they cut the class in half so the rider coaches could have a smaller group to focus on.
My rider coach was Wes and he was awesome! He has been riding motor cross for 20+ years and knew everything there is about riding. His demeanor was laid back, humorous, and fun — which was perfect. You’re learning to ride a motorcycle, it should be a positive experience! He set up different courses with cones and would ride through the course to give us a visual example, this was really helpful. Then we would get on our bikes, go through the course one at a time, and he would tell us what to work on. On the second day, we rode for about three hours until our evaluation tests. I learned something new about myself that day… I have test anxiety! Knowing that only after two days I had to either pass or fail and it freaked me out! Thankfully Wes noticed my anxiety and really worked with me to improve my riding. He was patient and gave me a pep talk that got me through it and I passed!
After a morning of riding bikes, we were given an hour lunch break and headed back to their building to spend the afternoon going over our riding booklets and listening to Wes teach us about real world riding. His stories and experiences were very insightful and I’ve used his advice in purchasing the right helmet, gear, and paying close attention when on the road.
This class was awesome (and a great use of a groupon!) I recommend Full Throttle Riding Academy to everyone! They are knowledgeable, caring, and fun! Plus, once you take the course, they invite you back to take more classes for FREE! They want you to continue to learn and practice safety when riding. I definitely plan to go back and work on my turns! Thank you Wes and Full Throttle!

I took Full Throttle’s Basic Riding Course (BRC). Its a two day intensive course where you spend most of the time on a motorcycle provided by FTRA. The course is a lot of fun and the instructors are too. They aren’t uptight like a DMV driving class that you might take when your a teen. The bikes are small (250cc) and are a great size for beginners. They provide plenty of water, sunscreen, and breaks from the instruction. They also give you a full hour for lunch and there are plenty of places nearby to eat at.
The instructor I had (Wes) was very knowledgable about power sports. He was also a patient and kind instructor to offer useful feedback throughout the course about how to improve my riding. He has many years of experience riding and can immediately spot bad habits or errors and offer useful advice on how to correct them. He can also demonstrate the exercises very well. Even if you make the same mistake repeatedly, he’ll just keep laughing with you about it. He never gets frustrated or judgmental, he remains helpful and encouraging.
The course is a private paved lot that is fairly level and wrapped in a privacy fence. The course training will really help you get the basics down. They give you lots of practice before the assessment and they offer helpful feedback to improve your driving.
I would recommend FTRA to anyone who wants to get into motorcycling.
The location is a little tricky to find the first time so give yourself a few minutes extra to find it.

I recommend this course to anyone who wants to ride a motorcycle. I can’t praise this course enough… Yuri is such a great instructor. He is passionate, knowledgeable, funny, and most of all patient. Wendy was encouraging and they both really tried to work with me and help me. Though I didn’t get to complete the course yet, Yuri encouraged me to keep in contact so that I can come back when I was ready (I need to master riding a bicycle first). He also said they might be getting smaller motorcycles that are my size in a month or two (I’m short at 5 feet and had difficulty on their smallest motorcycle). Not once did they make me feel bad about my skill level and both genuinely wanted to help me get my motorcycle license. I was able to complete the written portion of the course and can’t wait to come back to actually learn and practice riding!

I highly, highly recommend Full Throttle Riding Academy. Their BRC class is invaluable if you want to learn how to ride, refresh your skills, or just drive your car on roads where motorcyclists are present. Honestly, Denver roads would be much safer if everyone had to spend a weekend at Full Throttle. Jason and his staff are extremely passionate and knowledgeable; they love riding and they do everything they can to make sure you will too. I had never even sat on a bike before my BRC class, and I was a little intimidated when we first walked onto the range. But Jason, Wendy and Yuri did an amazing job of building up our confidence throughout the day. The pace was perfect; I felt like we were being challenged the whole time, but we weren’t pushed so hard that frustration took hold. Jason and his instructors spend a ton of time sharing their knowledge and experience to drive home the importance of gear and rider safety.
The most impressive thing: never once did I feel like Jason or his staff treated the class like a job. And they run these classes practically every day of the week! They didn’t just go through the motions and read the range exercises from the handbook, or park us in front of the videos in the classroom. They engaged us in the lessons, kept us challenged, and supplemented the curriculum with their own valuable advice. I’ve subsequently taken a second BRC course in another state, and while it was good practice, it was a huge letdown after Full Throttle’s class.

Jason is an amazing instructor. Even if you don’t plan on owning a bike anytime soon, I’d recommend the class just so you have general knowledge on how to ride. It’s a FUN weekend experience just in itself.
We rented motos in Mexico a few weeks ago and I’m so glad I took this class. It made me feel much more comfortable on the ride.

Full Throttle Academy… You all are just phenomenal. I’m so appreciative of the services provided.
I’ll be recommending/​referring/​sending new and old riders to this place. I am a beginner rider and I left feeling confident, and I keep coming back for more opportunities to learn and grow as a rider. Can’t get enough of this place.
