Chapati Indian Restaurant

The food was cooked poorly and there was no taste. The coffee is not free refill, so be aware. Server was nice but didn’t know what was on the menu. I would never eat here again. Terrible. We left without eating our meal. We paid, however, more than it was worth for sure.

Best Korma west of the Mississippi.

A Holocaust denier! Stay away from this pathetic establishment! The food is sub standard as well. Even my Indian friends will not dine there!

I thought this place was just okay. There’s nothing special about the ambiance. Pricing is reasonable. Service is efficient and friendly. The menu boasts plenty of options and food comes quickly and in large portion sizes, but for Indian food I thought it was kind of bland. My dinner wasn’t at all spicy enough. I will probably give it one more try next time I am in town and order an entrée with extra spice to see if that makes a difference.

The food is good and flavorful with a quaint and comfortable setting. If you’re passing through North Field you can add this to your list of places to try.

I’m leaving a negative review based on my sole visit to Chapati in which I wasn’t even able to try their food.
I visited Chapati on a Sunday while on the road for work. I arrived forty minutes before they closed not thinking it would be too much of an inconvenience to the staff. I stood at the «wait to be seated» sign for ten minutes before my coworker and I decided to sit at the bar and look over the menu. Finally a member of the waitstaff acknowledged our presence and we told her we were just getting carry out and were ready to order. She looked at us awkwardly and said we can’t do carry out orders right now.
We walked out in dismay but on the way back to the car we decided we would just dine in and get carry out boxes if we were pressed for time. We sat back down at the bar and it was another five minutes before anyone came out to wait on us. We explained we had decided to dine in and she said sorry we’re closed now. Until a manager happened to walk by and they exchanged muffled words. She told us she could put our order in but they were «really busy.» When we asked how long it would take she glanced over at the kitchen without actually consulting anyone and said «an hour or more» clearly trying to get rid of us.
When I’m on the road for work Sunday is my only day off and it’s the only day I have to eat a real hot meal. I found out this place was near where we were cleaning out our car for the week and got super excited to eat some good Indian food. However instead I ended up eating a cold can of chicken. Chapati successfully ruined my one day off a week, and for that they have earned one star.
In conclusion if you’re just passing through town and you only have one chance to stop and eat somewhere, make sure it’s somewhere else, otherwise you’re bound to be disappointed.

The food was really good, however the service was ok. They need new glass cups. Might be an ocd thing of mine. Couldn’t drink the water there.

We had dinner here while staying at the Archer House hotel. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The service was very good. I didn’t give them five stars because the restaurant lacks any real ambiance and looked worn and the wine list was limited and unappealing. That said, I would go back for the food.

I made my first visit to Chapati today. I can recommend the Tandoori Chicken. It was flavored well, and was very tender. There was also just a little bit of heat. It comes with naan which was very tasty. The prices are higher than what is listed in Unilocal,visit the web site directly for updates. One other thing to mention is that pop is sold by the glass: no bottomless refills like other places.

This place is solid. It has great meats like grilled lamb. The Indian flavors are nice. The wine list complements the dinners.

This place was ok. Nothing was bad, nothing was horrible. There is really nothing that stood out, positive or negative, about the food or experience. Feel free to go here if you want Indian food and don’t want to make the drive to Burnsville for India Palace.

This place’s lunch buffet is on par with those in San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York. Let’s put a scale on the graph: it is in Northfield Minnesota. Minnesota is a place where we think parsley is a spice. Standard recipe for everything: boil vegetables to white mush. Garnish with butter. Granted Northfield a bit more sophisticated but still. Finding a place with good Indian food in rural Minnesota would be like finding a Broadway show in Fairbanks. Fabulous find.

Very good chicken curry and probably the best Nan bread I have ever had at an Indian restaurant. Atmosphere is cozy.

The lunch buffet was so mediocre. The tandoori was dry, the papadom tasted nasty, and everything else was just ok. The gulab jamun was stone cold and hard. All of this would’ve been fine had the buffet been $ 9 as a reviewer said it was a year ago, but when the check came it was a shocking $ 12. I am from NYC and Indian lunch buffet there is only that much in midtown; most are in the $ 10 range.

Small, a bit crowded but overall good food that I found a slightly expensive.
they have no kids menu at all – not surprising – and suggestions on what to get a slightly finicky eating 5 year old were not successful.

This place was one gigantic disappointment. I love ethnic cuisines and Indian is my all time fave. There are a number of decent reviews on here and so I thought it had to be okay. It was only almost okay.
We went for lunch at 12:45 pm and apparently all they serve at that time is the buffet since the waitress didn’t give us any other options. –Can I insert at this time that I hate writing negative reviews?– The first thing I noticed is that the place is dirty; we were seated next to a window that was dusty with cobwebs and dead flies in it. Gross. Our table wobbled and the chair felt like it was going to break under my weight. My hubby said it reminded him of restaurants in India because they’re all dirty too. Unfortunately, I don’t really see the novelty in that.
The food was forgettable at best. They did have a fair selection of beef, chicken and veggie options but nothing was really good. The best dish was a daal and honestly nearly impossible to mess up. There were veggie bjajias that were so dry and old they were not even edible. I’ve had great Indian food in LA and NYC and we cook Indian at home at least weekly. I realize that with the buffet style eating you’re getting food that should appeal to masses and therefore not be too flavorful or spicy. It all just seemed very Midwestern. Very unsatisfying and colossally disappointing.

If this restaurant was in NYC or DC, I probably wouldn’t give it 5 stars– maybe only 4. But no matter where it is, the food is shockingly good. The lunch buffet is a huge draw from the local college crowd– the food isn’t just warmed up leftovers like you see at so many buffets. No– the food is devoured so fast by the patrons, that the chefs have no choice but to crank it out FRESH FRESH FRESH. There’s absolutely no way you could dine here and not leave stuffed and happy.

Chapaterrific is what I say! This place gives great portions and is best when eaten family-​style. It’s tasty and has many nice wine pairings. Try the Biryani… one of my favorites, and start the night off with some Garlic Naan. Recommend if…
A) It’s a cold, bitter night and you need a quick warm up… spicy hot Indian food will do the trick.
B) You’re vegetarian, in case you have a ton of options packed with flavor!
C) The turkey sandwich you brought for lunch doesn’t cut it… their huge lunch buffet will hit the spot.

My friend’s rehearsal dinner was here and the food was delicious. The lamb was tender, the tandoori spicy but not overwhelming, rice was cooked well and the service was very attentive.
Nice to see an Indian option in Northfield.

Service was so-​so.
Atmosphere was just so-​so.
Appetizers oozed oil when cut into.
Naan was just so-​so.
Food, was alright — nothing memorable.
Bottle of wine was a decent price ($ 20).
Would I go again?
Only if absolutely necessary.
