Just had the chicken enchilada dinner in red sauce. I’ll keep it short, best enchiladas I have had in several years, quite spicy but not so much as to mask the taste.

We picked this restaurant to eat based on the Unilocal review. In a small strip mall, drove by it twice. Was disappointed after reading reviews. My husband’s sandwich was almost uneatable, glorified hamburger on a fried bun. Was suppose to be very spicy — not. Waitress was very friendly and her service was great, reasonably clean. We won’t go back.

Very pleasant staff, unique and delicious dishes, and a pleasantly peaceful atmosphere with the addition of a television playing Spanish programming. The food seems authentic and the taste is definitely delicious. Great dining experience inside or on the go. A+

¡Delicioso! We finally had the chance to stop by and try the huaraches; we can’t wait to go back! We had the huaraches sencillos and huaraches with chicharrón prensado, everything was so fresh and authentic. The chicharrón prensado was very amazing, We haven’t found other one here that comes even close to theirs. We also tried their nopales(cactus leaves), they were so tender and delicious. We are planning to go back and try their pozole and mole oaxaqueño!

Who knew Northbrook had such soul. We ordered 2 burritos… steak and a huarache… AMAZING. We live in Florida and it can be hard to find great Mexican down there. Better believe we will be returning next time we head north. Not to mention they were open in an ice storm. The young man that took our order was so nice. Check this place out Northbrook… you will not be disappointed.

For me, the authenticity a Mexican restaurant is best proved by the quality of its mole. And the mole here passes the test superbly. Dark, rich, with a slow-building heat and pleasant tanginess. To be sure, this is a bare-décor, little strip mall spot. But I was pleasantly surprised.

Food was amazing and the presentation was nice too. I always passed by this place without trying it and Im happy that I have! I now come here every week

The food was good, different from regular restaurants. Unique selections. We tried the steak huaraches and one plain(no meat) huaraches. Both were pretty tasty. The meat was not dry. The food came fast. We went on Sunday around 5pm. The place was filled already. Servers were nice. When we went in, we didn’t know we just find a seat and they come serve us with a menu. Instead we went to the counter, ordered from the menu on the wall and paid at the counter. Next time we will know, we can just sit at the table for a bigger menu to look at lol. Great little mexican place.

Driven by this tiny place in a strip mall for years without noticing it. Today some friends and I decided to go get some Mexican food, and this was the first place that came up on Unilocal! We came because of the great ratings. When we pulled up I was sure that this place would be bad because it is small and in an odd location. But I was so wrong. This little hole in the wall hidden gem has some amazing and authentic food, and I loved it. I had the beef burrito supreme and was not disappointed! Perfect portions and wrapped well with amazing tasting ingredients. Salsa is super spicy which I love and the staff is so so friendly and attentive. THIS is authentic Mexican food. I would like to be back some day soon to try more things on the menu!

Worst experience ever!!! Went to this place on a Saturday for lunch with a buddy, didn’t get greeted or approached until we asked for service, lady walks up to our table and goes directly to the people behind us that came in after we got seated. She takes our order which was simple tacos nothing fancy. We waited almost 45 mins and people that came in after us got served food before us. When we asked how long it will take she said it was coming out and then we proceed to wait for another 10mins to which we proceed to leave the restaurant with no food! Worst experience if your of different ethnicity don’t go they are racist!!!

I agree with ashir m. Worst place ever, I thought I was the only one that gets pick out! Everyone else got served before us! 45 minutes I waited for food and the food wasn’t that good, I rather go down the block for better food! Taco bell is a lot better! Never again!

Competent, slightly dry chicken burrito. Nothing to write home about. A little on the small side.

Pretty good! I had the chorizo tacos and horchata. The chorizo had just the right amount of spice. We were here from out of town so I found Los Huaraches on my Unilocal app, since no one in our group could figure out what they wanted. All of us enjoyed our food. My father-in-law got a huarache which he seemed to enjoy. Everyone working there was also super nice! And this place was packed with other people right before their closing time. I nearly missed it. Its right at the end of a strip mall! But I’m glad I didn’t!

Prefer La Taquiza but this place is on my way home from work. It’s actually quite difficult to turn into this plaza heading NW from Lake St, had to do a U-turn in the middle of the street. I dont think I will be attempting that again anytime soon this winter being 37+ weeks pregnant unless a very severe burrito craving hits. Husband and I dined in once a couple weeks ago and today I got take out. Service is bare bones, but the people are friendly enough. You get fresh hot chips and salsa when dining in, but none if you take out(unless you purchase). Guac is sold 2 oz, 4 oz, and 8 oz at «market price». When we dined in(late Dec 2014), we got the 4 oz guac and it rang up as $ 2.50. Price wasn’t bad but we totally underestimated how small 4 oz would be. I’d say it’s about one of those Chipotle guac containers. The horchata here is very sweet, which I do not like. I have gotten the suizo burrito with steak with red sauce both dine-in and to go. Very nice! Also got beans to go and pretty pleased with the huge portion for $ 2.25. They accept credit card but be sure to bring some cash for tips, for some reason this restaurant doesn’t have a tip line on their credit card receipt but they do have a tip bucket.

Eh, very average. Not bad, not great, just there, somewhere in the middle. Place left me feeling indifferent about the experience. Chips & salsa was unimpressive. Side of rice $ 2.25 for a tiny dish. Overall nothing compelling me to return, so we’ll keep looking for better Mexican options when we’re in the west Glenview/Northbrook area. Nice people, just unremarkable food.

Great hole in the wall. Always a good sign at a Mexican restaurant when most of the customers are Mexican. Real Oaxacan food. Not dumbed down for Americans. Chicken en mole was outsanding. Oaxacan tamales amazing. Great tacos as well. Had the Lengua(tongue) and Chicharron(pig skin). Can’t wait to go back and try more menu items.

Really good food. Plain and simple. I had the quesadilla with al pastor meat, and home made large corn tortilla. Yum…

Oooh, I wanted to like Los Huaraches a bit more than I did, but I have to be honest with you. It’s a cross-between a mom & pop fast-food place(atmosphere) and a sit-down restaurant(menu). The basket of chips and salsa is welcome. The portions a bit on the small side. The atmosphere is pretty spartan — check the photos. There are better places not too far away.

Solid food here… The Steak Burrito was out of this world, a nice amount of heat with the red sauce and ZERO fatty bites throughout! Also tried the pambazo and I gotta say that this thing is guilty eating from first glance. Basically it’s a torta deep fried(therefore making the bread gaaaaaaareasy) with potatoes, chorizo & Mexican cheese. Extremely unique and interesting but I probably won’t order it again. The wait at lunch was fairly long(about 20 – 25 mins). I’m looking forward to trying the Huarache when I come back!
