By blending nationally recognized talent with superior customer service, we are raising the bar for the suburban salon experience. Based in Northbrook’s vibrant Willow Festival Shopping Center, our salon offers a broad range of services, including hair cutting, hair coloring, extensions, nails, aesthetics and massage. Andreas Hogue Salon’s stylists are recognized for their work as educators with Matrix, Aveda, Paul Mitchell and Eufora. Business Owner

Andreas Hogue is a celebrated American stylist. He studied hair design in Austria, London, and Chicago before opening his first salon. Known for his precision cuts and advanced color techniques, Andreas is also highly regarded for his work as an extensionist. As an Artistic Educator for Matrix, Andreas’s work has been seen on runways, in print, and on television worldwide. Additionally, he spends a lot of his time teaching and mentoring our nation’s up-​and-​coming talent in the fashion industry. Notable career achievements include being named a «Celebrity Stylist» and «Stylist to the Stars» by Hairdreams USA and leading his first salon, Unitress Salon and Spa, to national acclaim when it was named one of the «Six Best in the Midwest» by HairWinners magazine and one of the «Top 20 Salons in the Country» in the 2009 edition of GlamHair magazine. Andreas was born in Chicago and raised in Glenview, Illinois. He is a graduate of DePaul University in Chicago and Loyola Academy in Wilmette.

I got a groupon, admittedly, for a cut, dry, and conditioning treatment. When I called to make the appointment, the receptionist was pretty darn rude (I could almost hear the eye rolling) but then again, with a groupon, I figured as much. They only offered certain times/​hair cutters but again, that was fine.
Fortunately, when I went in, everyone was incredibly nice and helpful. They offer coffee, jelly beans, water, etc while waiting and I do like their orange and white –not totally overdone-​colors. Despite being a modern salon, there was still a laid back attitude (in a friendly, good way). The woman having her hair dyed next to me clearly had known the woman doing the dying for years, and their chatter was comforting and familiar. I got there super early, and the receptionist and I had a little chat — again, down to earth and easy to talk to.
K (C?)athy cut my hair — I’ve received 4 compliments on it this week, it’s laying very nicely, and I“m pleased. My bangs are always a pain — I like them to go to the side, but not look old fashioned, and they don’t. Overall, thumbs up, and NOT a hoity-​toity feel in a hoity-​toity area.

Went there for the first time since I got a groupon for the cut and color. I love the atmosphere of the place and the color Cathy did looks great (had to blend an old dye job from about a year ago)! I felt very comfortable there. I would recommend!

Got my haircut done by Sammy… she was awesome! This was my third salon in the last 2 months and I’ve said the same thing each time. Sammy was the only one that was able to cut it exactly like I wanted. My hair was crazy long too. She managed to cut it perfectly in way less time than the other two salons. A bit pricey– but worth it. Definitely going back!

Francesca gives an amazing haircut! Both my husband and I recently went to her and we were so pleased. I have long thick hair that was in desperate need of shaping — Francesca was sensitive to my desire to keep my hair long (instead of taking off too much, like most stylists in my past) and gave me some long amazing layers. My husband also has lots of thick wavy hair and she did an amazing job on his as well! Definitely recommend her.

Francesca gave my long/​fine hair a boost of layers that didnt look choppy or scraggly. A FIRST! I loved it so much that I went back to have it colored by Jeff. It was the most amazing color Ive ever had on my hair. The compliments flooded in! They are true artists and know exactly what will work with your hair and face.

Debbi performed a Deva Cut/​Style and it was well worth the wait. She used the new Decadence line in my hair (I can’t wait until my old bottles run out). She explained what she was going to do before she did it and my hair turned out cute (despite the years of damage I have put it through).
I am looking forward to seeing her this Holiday season!
Great space. Very open and will-​lit. They have hot tea (which is super important to me).
The waiting area could do with a wider variety of reading/​perusing materials however, I had a great experience and my interaction with Debbi is what prompted this review.
She is a talented stylist dedicated to curly haired womyn and has been Devacurl trained.

Be aware that this salon does not take Amex and will not allow tips on credit card. They want cash, or they’ll take a check — written out to «cash,» which means it’s going unreported. Because we pay a ton of taxes and are scrutinized for every penny we make, I usually don’t support cash-​only businesses, especially ones that operate like they are high-​end, charging a la carte for everything ($ 25+ for blow dry after paying for a full foil — or you can do it yourself, which they make very inconvenient & uncomfortable). Like most people of this decade, I don’t carry cash… or a stone-​age checkbook. I expect service and convenience, and places to be on the up-​and-​up when I’m paying the same prices that other upscale salons charge, even in the city on Oak Street where the cost of operating is a lot higher than in a strip mall in Northbrook.
If not for all of the inconveniences, I would give this salon 5 stars for the stylist I went to — Margo. She is excellent! Margo takes time and explains everything. She gives great advice and is is really nice, easy to talk to. I hope she moves on to a different salon — I would follow her there.

Today was my first visit to Andreas Hogue Salon and I couldn’t be more pleased with my experience. I called on Sunday to make an appointment and they were able to schedule me on Monday morning with Brittany. She is absolutely amazing! It was clear that she is very knowledgable and talented. I went in with very dark brown hair and told her I was interested in light brown with highlights. She gave me a couple of suggestions and asked for my input. I trusted her expertise and I’m very glad I did! She gave me the results I was expecting after 2 – 3 treatments in just 1! Brittany is patient, friendly, and meticulous in her craft. I have already received many compliments and will definitely be back to see her! Thanks for a great experience!

Got my hair done here and overall enjoyed the experience. Hair came out pretty nicely. She took her time with me (which i appreciated). The waiting area is really small though so on a crowded day expect to stand. Also, when i went everyone in the salon was around 70 lol which kind of freaked me out just because i didnt want to leave looking like a cast member of the Golden Girls lol. I dont know if i went in at a weird time or not or if its usually like that?
Only other negatives were that the stylist was 15⁄20 min. late taking me and I felt that she was a little pushy about how i should see her for everything (cut, color, styling, etc). I was a little uncomfortable with that as I was only looking for someone to do an occasional blow dry when i needed it and am happy with my current cut/​color people. I’m not sure i would go back to the same stylist just because of that (it made for an awkward time sitting there having to deflect all of the comments on she can do all of these things lol).
Overall i would go back and get my hair done here if I needed it for a last minute thing. Might try a different stylist though. For a special occasion though where i needed it to look perfect and had advanced notice I would still venture to the city to my usual spot.

The place is nice, and t the staff is great. I was greeted upon my arrival (as opposed to the neighboring Sport Clips salon — that’s how I ended up going to Andreas, in the first place). The receptionist was kind enough to offer me something to drink and helped me hang up my coat. The barber was awesome, very friendly, attentive, and quick.
The reason I’m giving this place three stars is their rates. I mean, shaving a head cannot cost $ 37. It just can’t. At least not in Northbrook. I happen to live in one of the most expensive cities on the face of this planet, but the same haircut close to home costs me $ 17 including tips — and they also give you an express massage and use old-​fashioned razors to ensure the cleanest and closest possible shave in hard-​to-​reach areas such as around the ears — something i didn’t get here. Otherwise, as i said, it’s a very nice place.

I’ve been going here for just about 4 years and I have always gone to Katie. She does a great job and I often get compliments on my cut. What I love about this salon is that’s in reasonably priced and a nice friendly atmosphere (not snobby).

Jackie!!! She is amazing! I went with a whole new look… flat medium brown to light coppery red… and shoulder length hair to chin length inverted bob. She is AMAZING… I thought I would need a whole-​head bleaching to lift my boxed hair color, but she recommended highlights instead so it was much more gentle and achieved almost the same effect. The cut is phenomenal… she is super precise and super talented. I highly recommend her. I am definitely going back to her when we come back this summer.
One thing about the salon that was definitely inconvenient is they don’t accept credit card tips… I feel like a high end salon such as this should easily be able to get this «technology?» Thankfully I had cash with me, but to have to go to a cash station? I’ve been to dinky ma and pop «salons» in rural Pennsylvania where I was able to put a tip on my card. That lost the salon a star. Jackie is a five star stylist, however.

NOT very happy with Andreas Hogue or Andreas Hogue Salon. I’ve followed my hairstylist to this salon who I LOVE! It’s the salon that falls short. I had an awful experience with Cathy who washed my hair. After she was done I had color all over the back of my neck, around my face, in my ears around my ears, and my top was soaked with water., it was bad! Not to mention I discovered she washed my hair with gloves on and when I asked her to apply more pressure she didn’t. Part of the experience of getting a hair wash is the pampering, relaxing massage of your scalp too. This is an expensive salon… Pretty sure I’d have a better shampoo at Great Clips! I was so upset that I sent an email to the owner of the salon, Andreas Hogue, he never had the common courtesy to send a reply. So I went from being a little upset to pissed off! I work with the public and this is no way to do business. If my hairstylist wasn’t at this salon I would NEVER come back. Beware of expensive, and rude services!

Went here for a haircut after moving to Chicago couple of months ago, I am extremely picky on the hairstylists and always pick Master stylists after researching them on their website.
After scouring through their website, I picked Carla to do my hair. She did an amazing job to bring my hair back to life. Definitely recommend her

My daughter walked into our house and I couldn’t believe my eyes. Even with just wearing leggings and a T-​shirt, she was stunning, but once she put on her dress, she was gorgeous. Words can’t even describe how beautiful she looked. Margo did a phenomenon job not only on her hair but her makeup as well. I’m not sure how Margo did it, but her hair was the prettiest I have ever seen it. Actually her up-​do was the prettiest I ever seen on anyone. Margo did a fantastic job of looking at a picture of her dress and deciding how to do her hair and makeup.
My daughter said that she felt so beautiful. She received several compliments from students and teachers. She was still smiling when she got home and didn’t want to take her dress off. Even though she changed out of her dress, she kept her hair in.
Thank you for all you did to make her prom a fantastic experience.

I’ve been coming here for about 9 months now and I love it! The first time I called and got an appointment with Brittany and I haven’t seen another hair stylist since! She does an amazing job and is fun to talk to. I got my hair colored a darker red for fall and I got so many compliments on it! I also got bangs to change up my look, and they give you a free bang trim between haircuts, which I think is amazing. Everyone I’ve talked to there is really nice. The girls at the reception desk are friendly and very accommodating.
If you are looking for a new hair salon, I would definitely recommend going here! I can’t wait to go back and get my hair colored again :)

Out to Chicago for wedding — girls decided to get their hair blow dried (meaning us girls 55 and older) which I had never done before other than at my hairdresser’s of 30 years. Once there — I was feeling so comfortable I decided to get make up done — another first. Well 5 stars to both Cindy and Margo for yes, their expertise, but more importantly the way they made me feel so comfortable and not in the least bit self –conscious. All I asked was that they not make me into a different person — and they did not — it was simply a more beautiful me! I got so many compliments my head was spinning and I had a fabulous evening. The whole experience was fun, not intimidating at all, and I will definitely do again!
The 3 stars for price may or may not be correct for again — it was a first experience and I was not shopping around — and glad I didn’t.

I went to Margo after a friend referred me. Being a blonde is so difficult to maintain. Especially if you decide to go a darker shade. Look no more. Margo is absolutely fantastic. I am in love with my hair for the first time in years. It looks perfect and so natural. We opted for a deep conditioning treatment as well, leaving me with baby soft hair. She works magic on blondes! Thank u so much!!!

I’ve been here several times for haircuts, special occasion styles, 1 no chip French mani, 1 makeup trial, and 1 wax service.
HAIR CUTS & STYLE, WAXING = 4 or 5 stars
Cynthia is my fave for haircuts, Brittany & Sue are great for updos, and Julia is good for waxes.
MAKEUP = 3 stars
The wedding makeup trial was mediocre. I’m not a fan of the thick eyeliner pencil they have or the mascara (not waterproof). I would’ve had to bring in my own. Secondly, they don’t have lashes in stock, so I would’ve had to either bring my own too, or ask the makeup artist to pick some up. Thirdly, I was hoping they’d have airbrush foundation, but they don’t. Lastly, I am extremely picky with the way my eyebrows & eyeliner have to be, so I probably would’ve had to do those myself, so I felt like I would’ve been doing half the work which isn’t worth paying someone for. I decided to do my own makeup for my wedding day instead.
NO CHIP FRENCH MANI = 1 star
I was most disappointed with my no-​chip French mani, as the white lines weren’t even straight on any finger. They don’t use that technique where they even out the line with a tiny brush, nail polish remover, and curve motion. Bubbles appeared on half of my fingers, and fuzz got stuck to one nail and then got polished over! I have pictures to prove it. I have never had such an awful looking French mani. I got my nails done for my wedding, and I had no time to get it fixed. I had to look at it for days! The lady was such a sweetheart, though, so I didn’t want to complain and get her in trouble. Sigh.
