I’m sure there are many brides out there that have started planning their weddings since childhood. But Shobha aunty — you made it a reality and even better than imagined! From our very first meeting, you had great ideas and recommendations that made our wedding exceptional. All your decorations were new and innovative. We even challenged you to create a whole new reception set. The end result — absolutely stunning! Everyone was extremely amazed at how beautiful and elegant the decorations were for all three events. We are still getting compliments about all your work. There is no doubt that you are #1 Decorator in Boston, but from our experience we think you are #1 in the whole Northeast. We used Alankar Décor for our mandapam for our wedding. There is no question that Shobha provides the best mandapams in the area – and they’re also reasonably priced. Our morning mandapam, with the aisle, and all of its surrounding decorations, was truly stunning — it was more beautiful than we could have ever imagined. For the evening, we kept the same mandapam, but Shobha just switched out the curtains to match our reception colors — it looked beautiful!
The only issue we had with Shobha was that she was very late in taking down the morning decorations & putting up the evening one, and didn’t give us a heads-​up that she was running late. This, in turn, affected other vendors’ set up (i.e. DJ set-​up) — hence the 4-​stars. However, the quality of her work is truly outstanding, and we’d definitely consider hiring her as a decorator again for any future events.

Alankar made our wedding so exquisitely beautiful. We were getting nonstop comments of how grandiose and beautiful our Mandap was. Alankar also did all of the center pieces for the reception and I could not have asked for anything more beautiful and classy then what they delivered. Alankar stayed right in our budget, not a penny more. However Alankar gave us extra then what we had ordered and never asked us for more money. I merely had to say what I wanted and Alankar delivered more then what I was imagining. I am extremely grateful for all that Alankar did for our wedding and I cannot wait to recommend their services to every bride. Truly the best decorators in the area.

Shobha Shastry has been so great to work with so far. We’re trying to do a unique wedding, and she has been helping us with the things that we want to do differently. She even met with us after one of her busiest weekends of the year.11 events and no sleep. She’s a busy woman, but she’ll do all she can for you!

Shobha always amazes me how efficient she is with her work and handling so many events in one weekend and running smoothly. I have known her for many years and seen her business growing. Business only grows when you are good and passionate about what you are doing. She is busy but very efficient with her work. I have attended lots of wedding, Gala, Charity shows, where she had done the decoration. She is always up to date with the trend. Shobha Sastry is simply incredible. She is down to earth, tells it like is, worked with our budget, is cleverly resourceful, and helped my family and I with even the smallest of details. She has vast knowledge on a variety of South Asian traditions which we found very helpful since I was marrying someone with a different background, and all of her suggestions paid off. Our guests marveled at how beautiful the altar, decorations, and fine details (as mentioned above) simply glowed on my wedding day.
Unfortunately the night before my wedding there were terrible issues with the tent vendor we used, and on the spot she came up with an alternative to help make up for the lack of services. Her team worked through the night to make everything PERFECT for the following morning. She is amazing and came through with everything she promised and more!

Shobha Shastry is amazing. She runs and IS Alankar, and is completely, your safety net.
She ran my wedding in July, she did all of the décor, she gave me contacts, she gave advice to the white Irish girl whose in-​laws live in San Diego, while we planned the wedding in Massachusetts.
Sometimes she’s a little hard to get a hold of/​to get to call you back, however she ALWAYS comes through in the clutch. She is a very busy lady, and has at least 1 wedding every weekend, but when it comes to the date of your event, you feel like you are the only one.
I don’t know what I would have done without this woman, I shudder at the thought.
I can’t thank Shobha enough for all of her help, her calm demeanor, and her keeping me sane.
