Horton’s Camping Resort

Convention to Ptown. Shuttles come by hourly and are very reasonable, but that’s all this Campground has going for it. No amenities and run down.

Convenient location to town and beach but low voltage brings the review down. More often than not, voltage was lower than 110 so could not run ac, fridge or h2o heater. Only 35 amp service which would have been ok if the voltage would have been high enough. No sewer but has a dump station.
Roads are limestone/​shell and sites are very sandy so the entire area is quite dusty.
Cable was snowy blur, although not there to watch tv much. But would have been nice at night.
Pretty pricey for no amenities but great location.

I stayed here last summer with a friend, and two of my other friends attempted to stay here as well the same weekend but were never able to confirm their reservation, despite their best efforts, thanks to a series of miscommunications with the manager that made it seem as if he had absolutely no interest in their, or perhaps anyone’s, business.
Despite the fact that it was high season, when we finally arrived, the place was relatively empty (unlike the place we’d stayed at weeks before right outside of P-​Town), which is possibly largely attributable to the place’s peculiar take on customer service that kept people like my friends from even finalizing a reservation. In fact, my reservation was never actually finalized, but I didn’t know this, so showed up any way, and after a bit of low-​key disputing upon our arrival, things turned to friendlier chatter, all was straightened out, we were able to pitch our tent, and the weekend progressed smoothly from there.
The other staff members were delightful, funny, and helpful, and shared a few stories about what it was like to work there. All in all, I’ll probably take care to make reservations early enough at Dune’s Edge right in P-​town if I go camping again next summer, because it was a generally livelier place, and one doesn’t appear at it only to be put on the defensive or turned into a humble zombie in order to rescue one’s bed for a holiday weekend.
At least my experience with Horton’s was not anything resembling a disaster, however, and unlike the experiences of some others in non-​Yelp reviews that I read before trying but apparently failing to make my own reservation at Horton’s, the manager managed to be perfectly reasonable – at least as far as practical matters were concerned – despite the bizarre customer service etiquette and the scaring away of at least two other campers that weekend.

I wish it were possible to give NO stars. The campgroun itself was very pretty and facilities were clean, probably because it was totaly empty during high season. If speaking rudely to customers and hassling them was good customer service, these people would be A+.
The rate to stay may be cheaper than others in the area but then there are fees for just about everything: guests, guests parking (two seperate fees!), air conditioner use in trailers, and an extra charge per kid while the playground consists of just a beat up swing set. Plus no pet allowed and no WIFI. We would have been MUCH better off staying elsewhere. It wouldve been closer to the beach too! Too bad beautiful Cape Cod was almost spoiled by Horton’s.
