Nice people, dry cleaning always done on time and correctly. Price is on lower end compared to other nearby cleaners. Lastly, noticed my clothes don’t get «beat up» like other places. Recommend.

Came in for a simple hem to shorten a wrap dress. it’s a straight shot. We measured and pinned and she proceeded to tell me it would be $ 45. She felt the fabric was «hard to work with». It’s rayon, and there is nothing complicated, no lining, etc. just 1.5 inches off the length. Not worth a second look. Had it done elsewhere for $ 15, and done perfectly.

They couldn’t lift a hem, or even sew a crest onto a coat.

Before bringing my dress here, I read these great reviews. Bonnie was very professional and pleasant. When she quoted a price for taking in the bodice of my dress, I blurted «I could buy a new dress for that cost!». I thought about it overnight and decided it was the perfect dress for the occasion so I told her to go ahead. She completed the work on time. When I got it home, the top of the dress was still ill-​fitting and the shoulders kept slipping off. I called and told her I was disappointed, but would have to wear the dress for the event I was attending. I hoped she would fix it afterwards. She told me all she did was pin it and since I approved, it was my fault if it didn’t fit right. I felt it was a very unprofessional response and subpar work at a high price.

Don’t usually go here but they charged me double of what my usual place does. No credit card machine had to go get cash. The lady there was kind of rude when I asked if it was possible to get to blazers cleaned by the next day, she said «next time come sooner» coldly. Then when I picked them up one of them had a huge red chalk like stain that I figured would probably not come off. Before throwing it out though I figured I’d try to just wash it in my normal washing machine and it came right off so I have no clue what they did. I’ll never go back.

Everytime I have ever got a suit tailored it was done at the department store I bought it at. The place I just started at gave us uniforms and asked that we get them tailored. I originally wanted to get them tailored at the Macy’s in Oak Brook that I got my last suit at but I was pressed for time and decided to go onto Unilocal and find the closest one to me.
I drove into the parking lot and them went inside the side entrance where I was greeted by an extremely kind older lady who was one of the owners. She was very polite, asked me what I needed done and we had a great conversation. She priced everything out very affordable. I tried the clothes on that my job gave me and she measured me without even needing a dress shirt or dress shoes since I didn’t have them with me. I paid and left. Shortly after she called me that my clothes were ready. I tried them on and they looked amazing. This place is the best!

I got a bridesmaid dress altered here. Truthfully, I waited until almost the last minute, so I just found the closest place to my house (it’s a block away) and hoped for the best.
Luckily, the dress was done in plenty of time (earlier than they had thought, actually) and the workmanship was perfect.
I plan on taking all of my cleaning and alterations there from now on.

I was looking to get some alterations done on a bridesmaid dress. I stopped in after reading the review below & met Bonnie. This is a pretty old cleaners and it shows, but Bonnie was warm & business like so I felt comfortable. She pinned me up right away and said she would call back with the pricing. It was a heavy satin dress with stays so I was concerned how it would look. She did not take a deposit and called me back in a day or two with the cost, I needed it in 3 weeks but she finished early and called me to see if I wanted to pick up. I was very happy with the result. I would definitely come back. **FYI — cash only.

I don’t think I’ve ever gone to get professional alterations before, but this was a special dress for a special occasion, so I searched the phone book. After being discouraged by a couple of unfriendly locations on the phone, I came to the number for North Riverside Cleaners. A little farther from my neighborhood than I wanted it to be, but I thought, «Why not call them? For giggles…»
I spoke with a woman named Bonnie. She said she couldn’t give me an exact price for alterations because she needed to see the dress. Understood. I asked how late they were open to find out I had only 45 minutes till closing, but I had to get the darn dress in, so I got in the car and booked.
Bonnie was a sweet little woman with short, doll-​like but slightly graying curls. She was dressed like she came straight out of a 1950s issue of Better Homes and Gardens with an A-​line skirt past the knee and a pretty, conservative blouse. The shop itself mirrored her antiquity: old, wooden paneling; a vintage-​looking sign out front that lets passers-​by know they do alterations; homey, not sterile and steamy like most cleaners…
Bonnie greeted me with a humble and hospitable smile and knew I was the one she had recently spoken to on the phone. She took a look at the dress and keenly advised me of what needed to be done since there were different fabrics and particular frills that needed to be tackled. I could tell she was a seamstress fit for the task. Within minutes and well before closing time, she showed me to the fitting room, pinned what needed to be pinned, took down my information and said she would call me when the alterations were done. All this with a gentle air. I felt like I’ve known her since I was a child and knew I could trust her. She just made me feel so at home; I almost thought she’d bring out a plate of cookies and some milk!
Not much more than a week later the dress was finished and I was very impressed by the handiwork. Such fine and delicate material was perfectly stitched, and the frills looked as if they hadn’t been altered or reconstructed at all.
Great place, great work, great satisfaction. I will bring all of my cleaning/​alteration needs here. Go see Bonnie. She’d love the business!
