The Dancing School has been a leader in dance education for 35 years and continues to inspire students from age 2 through adults in the joys of dancing. Classes range from Wiggles School for the very young to advance levels of Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Lyrical and Tumble Funk. It’s popular Musical Theater choreography classes continue to be a draw for children age 11 — 18 with three different style classes each week. It is the home to «TDS Dance Fusion», a popular team competition opportunity and offers adult tap classes and children’s Birthday Parties.

History

Established in 1976.

The Dancing School has been a venue of quality dance education for since 1976. Our attractive facility has two large and fully mirrored dance studios, with a viewing waiting room and convenient Pro-​Shop which offers discounted prices on dance-​wear and dance shoes. The yearly program runs from September to May with additional programs throughout the year and summer camps and classes during the summer months.

Director Mrs. Simkins was awarded her Bachelor of Arts Degree in a double major Dance and Drama from the Boston Conservatory of Music, her Masters Degree in Theater from Emerson College. Although she has many performing professional credits in musical theater productions usually students want to know about her experience as a Rockette at the famous Radio City Music Hall! The road to opening The Dancing School came when she left New York to teach at The University of Massachusetts-​Amherst and then at Boston University and my two almamaters, Emerson College and The Boston Conservatory. She founded The Dancing School with the heartfelt goal of teaching dance educationally and creatively to students before they arrive at the college level.
