Garbarino Disposal & Recycling Service

My dad has used Garbarino for decades in the house he’s lived in for 40 years. It’s pretty much a monopoly, so it’s not really been his choice, but he’s never really had complaints either. Now that he’s ill and on hospice and in a facility, his house is up for sale. I have called Garbarino’s THREE times in two weeks for a final pick up of the cans and tomorrow will be the FOURTH time I have to call. Realtors have to move them to and from the street since they won’t pick up cans if not on the street. Neighbors are complaining as they can’t park (cul-​de-​sac) due to the cans being on the street for over two weeks. Each time I call, the gals are very nice and make promises. The last time they claimed the weather (ice) was the problem as well as the holidays, BUT I called way before the bad weather and before Christmas. Each time I was given a date; I was told Dec 30^th, then Jan 2^nd, then «the latest will be Monday (Jan 4)» but when that didn’t happen, so «Wednesday (Jan 6) or I’ll pick them up myself» but now it’s 9 pm on Wednesday and both the realtor and neighbors notified me they are still on the street. I’m pretty sure if I was a new customer, those cans would have been delivered same day! They don’t ultimately respect the customer, even if they become ill and have to close their account. I have to deal with a dying father and this service that is forcing me to keep calling them. Horrible. Maybe family run businesses aren’t so good as they don’t fire their bad employees since they’re probably relatives.

I own a property in their pickup area. I’m basing my great review on one very important criteria– the efficiency of their service. They have trucks that pick up multiple bins. This reduces fuel use (and therefore pollution), is more efficient with labor (further reducing costs), and causes less traffic on pickup day. My primary residence is service by Walker, who wakes the whole neighborhood up with THREE trucks before 630am. Walker’s redundant truck method clogs the streets and their hydraulic lifts and compressor system is louder than a fire engine. THANK you Garbarino, for innovating pickup with a better truck system.
