Our local Y. I like it because it’s less crowded than most. They do let to many kids play in the weight room but you can work around it. Also great pool for swimming.

This is a great YMCA with a positive environment. I am only making this review because I don’t want them to slack on their customer service. I brought my son swimming here for the first time because he does not know how to swim. There was a male lifeguard in place who was very vigilant of everyone in the pool. He then switched out with a female. She was doing a great job until a customer came in and started distracting her by holding what appears to be juicy unnecessary girl talk. I watched as the lifeguard kept trying to hold the conversation looking eye to eye with the person and many times away from my son. Without exaggeration this conversation went on for about 13 – 15 minutes while my son was swimming. I think I am being nice because it seemed longer. I then broke my silence and yelled across the pool and said to the lifeguard«Helloooo…that is a gossip session… this here(pointing to the pool) is a life and death situation». The positive: I give this lifeguard a 1000% credit for getting out of bed on a Christmas Eve going to work to do that job. You have to have a big heart to be a lifeguard. I also thank her for not getting an attitude. She seemed like she understood where I was coming from. Furthermore, I sensed that the person she was chatting with was someone she knew and did not want to hurt their feelings. It seemed she just couldn’t bring herself to say«‘Hey, no offense but can we chat later?». To the lifeguard, from me to you, let nothing and no one distract you. Have the guts to tell those who want to «chit chat» «I can’t chat right now, I am performing my lifeguard duties». Sincerely, Kim. C Masters of Science Occupational Safety and Health

Nice Facility — on the very Small Side(Owned by the City of North Las Vegas). No Gym, Whirlpool, Steam Room, etc. In the Summertime it’s very crowded with numerous Day Campers. The Senior Programs have Excellent Instructors and an accommodating, friendly(yet cramped) membership. If you are paying Out Of Pocket(Instead of Silver Sneakers Programs) the LVAC on Decatur is less expensive and has much better 24⁄7 facilities for Adults Only. I would give the«Y» Four Stars had the Locker Room been Cleaned after numerous complaints to management from many clients. Be very careful of Foot Fungus as I doubt a good germicide has ever hit the floor. The Management has also changed and there seems to be this urgent need to change everything without asking the members themselves. This is usually a sign of far too much upper management.

Very small for a YMCA. My daughter takes swim lessons here and the instructors are great. Very patient and understanding with the children who they teach.

I love the Y here with the gym on the Treadmills there is a great View of the Sheep Mountains. The gym is also baby friendly with a great Daycare Staff! Not to mention all the extra fitness events and classes that they offer. My only complaint is one for my own– I like workin out at night and they close and open at all different times. So scheduling around there schedules is a bit stressing– other than that its a great rate and a great workout!

My family of 6 has been members her for almost two years. The family membership is very reasonable and includes free childcare. My little kids(ages 2 – 6) love going to «Kids Gym» and the childcare staff are wonderful. The hours are definitely geared more towards families as it closes rather early 8pm. They membership includes all the general fitness classes and a few free kids fitness classes for ages 5 – 12. My son really likes the Kids Catch classes on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Swimming lessons, martial arts and dance are available for kids for additional cost. As a non-profit the YMCA offers scholarships for those in need for both memberships and classes. I think they also offer military discounts. Membership at this Y also gives you full access to the other YMCAs in town. The facility is actually owned by the City of North Las Vegas but due to funding they lease it to the YMCA to operate. There is only an indoor swimming pool and the only showers are in the pool changing rooms. The facility is always very clean, is only a few years old and well maintained. The non-judgmental family atmosphere is probably my favorite aspect of the YMCA. There are people of all shapes, sizes and abilities that take the classes so it is great if you are just starting out and worried about working out or taking a class. The personal trainers(Kat is awesome!) are also great and very affordable. I’ve lost 70lbs in the last year and the Y has been a big part of that. I highly recommend Zumba on Tuesdays and Thursdays with Christina. Kat also offers a boot camp in the mornings that is open to the public for a fee. Overall a great affordable, family friendly gym with a focus on helping the community become healthier!
