How the Air is cooled in your home. (Air Conditioning Basics 101)

When cooling, the air is pulled into the system through the return air grill (the one with the filter you should change every month). The air is cooled by a heat transfer method. As the warm air crosses across the evaporator coil the refrigerant adsorbs the heat from air and the refrigerant is vaporized. The vaporized refrigerant is pumped by the compressor to the condensing coil, located outside the home. The Condensing fan motor blows air across the coil and the vaporized refrigerant is cooled back to a liquid after, the heat it absorbed from you home, as been discarded out side. Then the process repeats itself when the compressor pumps the liquid refrigerant back to the evaporator coil.
