Yerevan Steak House

Stopped by while walking home one day and picked up a menu. I came back a few days later and tried their pita. It was really good. I decided to come back again for their shush meal. I am writing this review as I am sitting waiting for my food to be cooked. I expect this plate to be good.

If you have lived in the Hollywood/​Glendale/​North Hollywood/​Burbank area of Los Angeles for 3 years or more — then you have become a de’facto Armenian — especially if you smoke and like lots of little dishes. That said — those who have reached this high honor of pseudo-​Armenian-​ness, not only know Armenian food — but Must Have It!
So — here is Yerevan — a slightly off-​the-​beaten-​path steak and kabob restaurant. It is tucked in-​between the growing NoHo area and the «soon to be torn down and developed» NoHo-​Adjacent North — on Lankersham, across the street from a successful Soul Food place and an unsuccessful Papusaria — just south of an Auto Body Shop and an In-&-Out Burger — .with all of them wrapped around Yerevan like a giant Anaconda. And to make things even tougher for Yerevan, just a few blocks south and east there is a whole cluster of great Armenian markets and eateries — with better parking, and more high-​profile locations. So, in order to «Make it» at this particular location, on this out-​of-​the-​way stretch of Lankerhsam, this place has to be good. And it is.
I have not tried all of the dishes here, or even more than a few, — but what I HAVE tried stand out nicely — and what I have NOT tried — I want to try. This is a good sign.
The restaurant itself is just an unassuming storefront — and its interior is pretty casual (although Yerevan seems to do a bustling catering and rent-​out business, for weddings, birthdays, and other events). And of course Yerevan would — because it appears to be family run (thus every friend and relative will support it) — and because Armenian food is perfect for a big party (chafing dishes full of kabobs and dolma and casseroles and rice — «easy-​peasy, hot’n”cheesy»). But it is also a restaurant — so it has to succeed at this too.
So — how is the food?
Coming from Chicago where the Gyros are sooo very good, and known to every Chicagoan as well as Chicagoans’ know their Hot Dogs. I am a real stickler for good Gyros — and unfortunately the Gyros at Yerevan are not the best on Earth. But for LA, the Gyros here are pretty good. Not good enough to prop the place up — but good enough to stay on the menu without embarrassment. However it is the Kabobs and the grilled Cornish Game Hens that make this place great. Try them with the many other sides and mains that you can order. I especially like the yogurt soup.
Aside from the superior kabobs, this place is only okay for eat-​in dining — but it is especially good for take out. Order ahead — and grab your feast for home. You can get an individual plate or you can get your take-​out «Family-​Style». Just tell them how many people you are feeding and what you want and they will pack it all up together so you can place everything in the center of your table and dig in.
Surprisingly — during my visits to Yerevan Steak House, I have not yet tried the steak.
But I will

I have grown up around Glendale and have eaten a lot of Mediterranean/​Armenian/​Greek food around the valley. Some places are good, some are just okay, but more or less, you get the same thing. Good food, with great seasoning, similar sides, all that.
Yereven Steak House blows them all out of the water. It is a modest looking place, with not a lot of seating. It is kind of hidden where it is on Lankershim (it’s across from Ink Sessions), and there is not a lot of parking.
However, after eating there once, it is my go to spot for Mediterranean/​Armenian/​Greek food. I had the chicken and shish kabob combo, and my fiancée had the falafel plate.
The shish kabob was tender, well marinated, perfectly cooked, and the best I’ve had. The chicken similar in execution, and also the best chicken I’ve had. Their rice was magical, the house salad dressing was great.
The falafel is served a bit differently than other places. It is topped with tzatziki, onions, and tomato. While not as crunchy as most falafel, the seasoning mix is different, and with the toppings just makes it delicious.
One critique, is that their hummus isn’t as seasoned as most, but that just means add a little bit of table salt or, combine it with the house dressing, and it’s great.
Based on parking and the amount of seating, it’s probably more of a takeout place. But, the pictures of the food are accurate, and it tastes better than it looks.

Incredible food, absolutely loved it. I never had Armenian before and glad my first taste was at Yerevan Steak House. It’s located in a not-​so-​nice section of Lankershim Blvd but it’s still officially in the NoHo Arts District so hopefully gentrification will extend so that the area becomes worthy of this restaurant.

I’ve been meaning to leave a review for a while. I’ve been here probably ten times over the past year or so. The food is always delicious. The prices are very fair and the husband and wife who run this place are both super friendly. There is a reason this place has great reviews. It’s great!

This place was fantastic! The person who delivered the food made sure to let me know that they had made double sure to check for the allergies I had noted. Everything we ordered was perfectly spiced and absolutely delicious! On top of that, it was affordable and arrived quick, fresh, and hot. I have nothing but praise for this wonderful place and cannot wait to go back.

Got two filet shish plates. Filled us up. Very good meat. Good salad and hummus. Delivery wasn’t bad at all.

Fast delivery, but the food was mediocre. The overall opinion at home is that we won’t order again. Gyro isn’t warm so if that’s what you are looking for this isn’t the spot for you.

Amazinggggg !!! Got the filet mignon shi sh, salad, hummus, eggplant caviar all for 32 bucks as takeout ! Portions are seriously massive and the food is so Yum! Friendly quick service, I’ll definitely be back ! Thank you, Yerevan

By far the BEST Middle Eastern food I have ever tried!!! The kabob was so tender and juicy and the prices are great for the amount of food you’re getting! The owners are beyond sweet and very hospitable. I give it an A++ I will definitely be coming back. I can’t wait to try the rest of the menu.

My first time here, and I ordered the Chicken Shish plate, and the chicken Lula pita wrap… both were AMAZING. I had never had chicken lula before, and it was SO YUMMY. Now I am obsessed with it! I think I have been here at least 1 to 2 times a week for the last month or so!!! And they have a great garlic sauce (which I LOVE)…the owners are such a pleasure as well. They are both so warm and welcoming! :-)

Always delicious! Not to mention they don’t skimp on the portion size.

The owners of Yerevan are wonderful. The woman is always so welcoming and attentive. Never seen her without a smile. Food is tasty and fresh, and best of all, it arrives quickly! I’ve only been here twice but both times we were the only ones in the joint — fine by me, but if you’re looking for somewhere lively this ain’t it. Their windows are fully covered so weather is never a problem. Fair prices, too. Check it out!

Best Gyro I ever had. They should fix their door though, it blows in hot air in the summer.

I ordered delivery from here.
They were out of one of the items and called to let me know and ask if they could replace it with something else. I told them yes, if it didn’t have any dairy.
The lady that delivered it wanted to let me know it had no dairy as she made it herself. She must have been the chef or owner. It was really sweet of her to bring it herself and to let me know.
The filet shish kabob was to die for. The lentil soup was so yum and the hummus was really good. AND the delivery was fast. I will definitely be ordering from here again.

A neat little hidden gem in north hollywood. Kind of hard to spot/​find. Place is usually pretty quiet as dine in isn’t that common it seems. Lots of take out or delivery orders though. But when dining in, which I’ve done several times so far, the customer service is superb. Husband and wife run the kitchen. The wife is super nice and very attentive, as anyone running a small family biz like this should be. And the food, well, it’s delicious and cooked fresh to order. As an armenian, if my armenian food isn’t up to standards, I’ll be sure to complaint about it. Here, there’s none of that. Good stuff.

If you want a wonderfully home cooked fabulous meal, run don’t walk to this place. I was so impressed with the amazing food– every dish is prepared with the finest ingredients– great tender meat and chicken and loving care. The owners are warm caring people– They make you feel so welcome and make sure that everything is to your liking.
They have the best hummus in town and they even treated us to a delicious peach iced tea. The home made salad dressing was superb.
What a spectacular dining experience.
Please go this restaurant — they deserve the business! Don’t let the construction on Lankershim Blvd dissuade you. This is a must eat destination.

It’s a shame to give it such a low review since the food it self was very tasty. However if I pay 7.50 for a gyro I expect more then 3 tiny slivers of meat. I have never in my life has a gyro with so little meat. We ordered 2 gyros and both of them has the same amount. That amount being literally 3 tiny strips, thin as a dime. Once again food was great but that portion is easily one of the worst I have ever had. I attached a picture of the gyro open in case you think I am exaggerating.

Went here with my bf on Saturday around 3pm.
The place is located on the busy street, fortunately we found a parking spot just right in front of the restaurant.
We thought it was closed, it looked like so and we tried to open the door, it wasn’t even opened, disappointedly we went back to our car then a lady opened the door and turned out the place was open.
Place was quiet, we were the only customers that time.
We had chicken shish and chicken&beef lula, salad comes with the meals as well.
The cooking time is about 15 mins or so, definitely fresh made. Tasted delicious!
The rice was also perfect.
We had a pita bread and hummus as complimentary too, they were warm, soft, and the hummus is bomb! They’re so great.
After we finished our meal, the lady offered us a coffee as complimentary too! It’s Armenian coffee and we love it. My bf don’t drink coffee but he liked it!
It all came down to about $ 20 for 2 persons which is awesome deal.
I hope they are getting busier, it’s a family restaurant for sure. Her husband was hanging out too in the restaurant. It was chill ambience.
