Valvoline Instant Oil Change

In and out in 20 min, stayed in car the entire time. Will update if anything changes but so far so good. Was offered other services but not aggressively pushed.

The crew and service at this store is THE BEST. On a scale of 1 to 10 they are an 11. Very courteous and helpful.

Great service! The young man who helped me was very kind and professional, explaining to me all the recommended services. I didn’t feel scammed like I have in the past at other shops. I’ll definitely go here again for the next oil change.

Fast service, 15 minutes is all it took. Pricey at 50.00 for a basic oil change with a 5.00 coupon. but I did need 7 quarts. You pay for the time I guess. They always «recommend» other service, but otherwise it was fine.

What nice people work here! No upselling either, just came in got what was needed, they were straight up and done. Edward was exceptionally nice and I was in and out in no time.

This place will scam out of your money. People need to be aware that they are shorting you on the oil. They do not fill oil to top. They shorted me a quart of oil. They showed me the dip stick and it was short so I told him it was short and he went back dipped it again and it was still short. At this point I was extremely uncomfortable. I decided that I would check the oil after I left. Sure enough it was a quart short. I spent over $ 80 for oil and air filter which I didn’t need the air filter. They put dirt and leaves in my air filter then told that I needed one. Total scam. Then they tell me that the oil plug was not factory and that they where having trouble with it. Then they had waiting for no reason.
When I complained to tell them they shorted my oil and if they reviewed the video they would see that I told him to check oil again. In the video you can see that I was saying that my oil was short.
The manager viewed the video and confirmed what I was saying. I requested to see the video of my oil change and was told that they would get back to me but never did. I believe the video is ultimate proof that they are ripping people off !
I called customer service to request the video and was told that I was denied by the regional manager Leo who told me based on my accusations. The regional manager was more concerned about my Unilocal review rather then helping me. I told him my concern and what I had issues with and all he can say is bring your car in so we can check it. I told him that I would like to view the video of the work so I can see for myself they did nothing wrong then I will take my car in.
The regional manager was not helpful and dishonest to say the lease. Called me on a private line and then hung up the phone when I asked to speak to someone else. The first call he basically was telling how I should of handled the matter and told me after you saw the oil low the second time why didn’t say anything and I told him that I did and the employee reassured me that the oil was topped off so At that point I decided to check the oil myself. Leo also was very clear that his decision Is final and if I call corporate all they will do is call him back and he will make the Same decision. All this from regional manager Leo just so he didn’t have to show me the video. Second time we spoke was three way recorded call he said they don’t have the video and the second recorded call he admitted to having the video and said they could not let me view it for privacy of other customers and all I want to see is the work that was done underneath my vehicle. Excuse after excuse why they can’t show the video. He was a lot nicer the second phone call but just as unhelpful as the first call we had .My request to view the video is a waste of time unless you get court order. The video of the work done on your vehicle while you are sitting in it Is to protect valvoline not the customer.
Open your eyes people they are ripping you off don’t make the same mistake, stay away from Valvoline if you don’t want to get ripped off. If you are one those who don’t have a choice but to get your car serviced at valvoline just be aware of the up sell dirty air filter scam and exactly how much oil you get. I’m curious to know how many other customers have been scammed and taken advantage of. Hopefully soon the news channels will be curious too.
I don’t have a problem admitting I am wrong. I am more than willing to take my review off. All Leo regional manager would have to do is approve my request to see the video. I’m sure most of the 5 star reviews on here are because the customer got discount for using Unilocal.All you have to do is read the in the reviews.

Edward was more than amazing, very straight forward and a little bit hurtful with the price but at least he was honest. So hard to come bye these days.

I went to Valvoline today for an oil change — second time, first experience was great. This time, I drove home (about a mile and a half) and all seemed well. Later this afternoon, went back out, and immediately my check engine/​auto LSD lights are on and flashing. I head straight back to Valvoline. I’m told by the technician that it couldn’t have been anything that they did, and it was coincidental.
He ran the trouble code for me and told me that I needed to take my car in to a mechanic because «we aren’t mechanics.» At least he let me take a picture of the trouble code.
I get home and open the hood for myself, because why not. I knew they took my air filter out to try to get me to buy a (unnecessary) new one. Valvoline left a huge hose unhooked that leads to where the air filter is, which I texted to a mechanic friend who replied that was the culprit. Now I have to go to a mechanic, pay for a diagnostic and the check engine light to be turned off and ensure the hose is properly attached because of Valvoline’s laziness and unwillingness to accept responsibility.

During the oil change they did something that blew out the power to my radio and dashboard. I wish I had asked what happened at the moment it happened, but I didn’t, and lord, do I regret it. The guy had me immediately start the car, the radio turned on and I figured everything was fine. Until the next day, when my engine light was on, my car kept shuddering like it was about to stall, and the air conditioner wasn’t blowing out cold air. This is on a car with less than 45K miles, which was working perfectly when I brought it in.
I went back that night, and was told it was nothing they did. BTW, they didn’t bother to talk to, or even try to figure out who was working on the car and blew out the radio power, just told me straight out it wasn’t caused by the oil change. After they were done looking under the hood, the battery light came on in addition to the engine light. I made him call the store manager who came to the location, looked at the car, and told me the same thing. Again, without actually ever speaking to the employee to find out if anything happened during the oil change. I had to push him to even try to figure out which employee it could be, and also had to ask him to call the employees to see if they remembered anything. He was willing to do these things, but really, why did I have to walk him through every step of problem solving?
The manager did manage to fix whatever was causing the battery light to be on, and I think that also fixed the problem with the AC, since it’s been working fine since. He told me to bring it by the mechanic they use to check it out, and if he could determine it was their fault, they would cover the repair. I took it to the mechanic, the problem was a sensor that had gone bad, but he said there was no way to determine the cause of how it happened, just that it had happened. I had it fixed as I was taking the car on vacation the following week, it cost me almost $ 300.
I asked the store manager to see the security footage since that could possibly show what the employee did to cause the power to go out. He said he would have to request it from corporate since it wasn’t kept on site. I never heard back from him, so I called when I was back from vacation and was told that the district manager (his title is slightly different but I can’t remember exactly what it is) denied the request because my problem wouldn’t have been caused by the oil change. Now I’ve worked in places that have security cameras, and if there’s a problem one of the first things they do is check out the security footage to see if it shows anything. Isn’t that part of the reason companies have security cameras? But nope, this manager refuses to even look at the footage (supposedly, for all I know he did look at it, it does show what happened, and that’s why he refused to let me see it).
At this point I called corporate, explained the situation. Who calls me the next day? The district manager. He proceeded to argue with me incessantly, and accuse me of trying to screw them over. Could he explain what happened to cause the radio power to go out or the air conditioner to stop working? Of course not. But that didn’t stop him from insisting that the problem I had could never be caused by an oil change. As if the other problems could be? I tried to explain over and over that I didn’t think it was the oil change itself that caused it, but maybe some sort of power surge. It’s not a huge stretch of the imagination to think that whatever caused the radio and dashboard to go out could have also messed up a sensor, is it? At one point he actually told me «when somebody is raising their voice like you are, it usually means they’re hiding something». Really? It couldn’t possibly be because I’m dealing with a complete douchebag?
So I called back corporate and was told that the final decision was the district manager’s, since it’s a franchise location, but that she would send the case to the market manager, and if he thought that the district manager didn’t do everything he could to try to solve my problem, he would be able to intervene. So that’s where I stand at the moment, waiting to hear back from him.
Again, let me stress, at this point all I’ve asked for is to see the security camera footage from the oil change so I can see it shows exactly what might have happened. I haven’t asked for money, haven’t asked for anybody to get fired. Just the footage. And it blows my fucking mind that I’ve had to fight this hard for something that should have been the very first thing they did when I presented the problem to them. Especially when I’m able to pinpoint the exact minute of the footage where the problem happened.
So if you go here and have any problems, good luck. Obviously their customer service policy is to deny, deny, deny, without even trying to figure out what happened. So take notes, get names, and find out exactly what they did before you walk out the door.

The employees at this location are great. Not only do they change your oil in less than 15 mins but they also inspect your car for any potential problems.

I’m usually afraid of places like this, I think I’m going to go in for an oil change and leave with a new transmission. Well, this place is not like that. They are awesome. Isaac is great, he referred me to the mechanic I now go to. Thank you Isaac! I will definitely be back here. Very fast, efficient service. They don’t add anything on or try charge you for things that you don’t need.

Excellent service here: the managers and employees are very helpful. They haven’t tried to sell me anything I don’t need. They make suggestions on what services I should consider in the future, but they certainly aren’t pushy ((THANK YOU)). I brought my truck in for an oil change and rear differential fluid replacement. Don’t forget your Unilocal check-​in coupons, kids! My own rule: for every oil change add one service that they offer, whether it be power steering, transmission fluid replacement, or the replacement of a filter!

These guys really put the emphasis on good customer service. Nay, great customer service! The place is so clean and well run that it literally takes no time at all for them to get started. And when they talk to you and show you their computer screen you don’t feel like a complete idiot for not understanding what’s going on – it’s all so transparent and honest. I got to say that this Valvoline felt more genuine than any other place I’ve gone to for car services in a very long time. Plus they kept dog treats on hand, which was a plus for my Weimaraner, Sophie, who would also give this place 2 paws way up!

Lightning fast! I know, I know — this is not a review for those doing their oil changes according to the best standards of car industry. I have heard people on various forums complain about such places, like they dont empty the oil tank for 30 minutes to dry it out completely, this and that. But for me this is the best places amongst drive through places! Afterall, I am leasing my cars, so I do not care much about emptying the tank completely.
SO hence goes a review. My oil change indicator lit up and I was looking around for a place to change oil. My regular mechanic was off on that particular day, and I stopped by a CarWash on Tujunga and LAnkershim. They had a big sign saying $ 25 oil change with free carwash. I entered the area where they supposedly change the oil and a apelike man came out and asked me what do I need. I told him exactly what I need — 3.7quarts 5w30 oil and filter in accordance with car manual. He said, you car needs semi-​synthetic oil at $ 45 and bla blah. So I said you must be a diletant that you think that a TOyota Prius needs a semi-​synthetic just because you say so, and headed to Valvoline.
Valvoline turned out to be great. You sit in the car, they change the oil, do an inspection of all fluids and lights and $ 40 and 15 miuntes later I was done. Quick, professional, affordable!

I went here today for an oil change — the first person that helped me here was extremely rude; yet I waited because it was hot.
I then noticed another customer going before me; this is after I waited almost 15 minutes. Which the the first employee refused to even give me a price.
So, being irritated, I spoke with Marco. Because he was so nice and helpful, I stayed and got my oil change. I have to say he was compassionate and cared that I was upset.
Marco would be the only reason I would come back here.

They change your oil while you sit in your car, how awesome is that?

I hate getting my old changed at other places cause they always find something else wrong with the car that they want to fix & charge extra for. These guys just change oil. But they check everything else out and tell you if there is a problem so you can go somewhere else and have it fixed. One of my tires was low, they told me to come by and have it checked & filled again (if it was low) it in a few days.

When it comes to oil changes, I’m quite promiscuous. I’m not loyal and will use one and drop it before the sun comes up in the morning. Don’t call me… I’ll call you (and I probably won’t). Basically, although I like having a set mechanic, a set hair stylist, and a regular tax guy; I choose car spots for oil changes based on convenience, price, and of course Unilocal reviews. Well, even «players» can become devoted and change their ways and Valvoline may be the one to get me to ‘settle down’.
Valvoline is located on the busy intersection of Riverside and Lankershim next to a Baja Fresh and a Coffee Bean and can’t be missed with its bright and clean signage. Being an ‘Instant’ oil change means patrons pull around back and stand in a line of cars (there are three bays) and stay in the car. It’s actually all quite exciting similar to going a car wash. The wait isn’t too strenuous as Valvoline’s claim to fame is an oil change in 15 minutes — so even if there are other cars, it isn’t too bad.
I was greeted by a girl (yes, a girl!!) named Krystle who is also an assistant manager. She asked if I have been to their location before and proceeded to explain how it all works when I answered that I had not. I must note how extremely kind Krystle was! I felt like a VIP with her calling me ‘ma’am’, smiling, and putting me at ease which is a feat because my car is a 16-​year junker so I become very nervous when work on my car is required (even if just an oil change).
Upon pulling into the bay (you are guided); everything is airy, spic and span, and inviting. I know: that is odd to say about an oil change place but in Valvoline’s case, it is true. Listening to Krystle, Ricardo, and another attendant on duty working; sounded like listening to doctors in an operating room calling out orders and asking for tools. They are fast, efficient, and professional but also friendly. These aren’t scam mechanics.
The oil change begins with a light inspection, proceeds to checking all fluids, and filling the tires with air. All this goes on while a mechanic below the car in a hole changes the oil and Krystle was plugging in data to the computer (this personal car data can be accessed at any Valvoline location through their computer network). It is a smooth-​oiled machine at Valvoline (no pun intended)! Everything was done before I knew it and Krystle printed out a form explaining what work would need to be done on the car in the future but she NEVER pushed anything or made the possible repairs feel crucial. The whole process was incredibly fast and pleasant!
Need to save some pennies? Valvoline regularly offers coupons such as with Unilocal check-​in. Fear not if you don’t own a printer as they allow you redeem the coupon by simply showing it on your phone. I also received a $ 10-​off coupon for next time as it was my first time there. How wonderful!
Overall, everything about this location is amazing: the customer service is tip-​top, the service is speedy, and the establishment is neat and clean. Yes, it is a little pricier ($ 39.99 for a conventional oil change) than other places but it is worth it for the speed and service plus you can check for coupons. It’s safe to say… I think I found my monogamous oil change life partner.

Krystal and Isaac were great! Changing the oil was my first major thing I’ve had to do for my car and I was a nervous wreck because I didn’t know what was supposed to happen or if I had done irreparable damage by not coming in sooner. They made sure my tires were great as well. They were efficient and friendly and made me feel calm and taken care of!
Te whole process flew by and I was on my way in no time.
