Toluca Lake Eyecare Optometry

This place is something else. I work at Universal Studios and was looking for a place close to work to get my eyes checked. I figured since it was close to work it would be convenient on my way home. I set up an appt to have an eye exam and to get a prescription so I could find out how bad my eyes were. After the exam they made it extremely difficult to get my prescription on paper and give it to me. After going back and forth with the staff I finally relented and decided to purchase my frames there. They said it would take two weeks. I had ordered three sets of frames spending well in excess of twelve hundred dollars. I picked up my frames and went home. Upon closer examination at home I noticed that I had been given not NEW FRAMES which I had been led to believe but the sample frames that everybody else and their brother try on in the store. There was oily matter and small hairs in the bridge part where the nose goes on two of the frames. I had not tried them on so I know it wasn’t from me. In addition after getting my loop and inspecting the other frame further I noticed someone had gotten some paint and did touch ups where scratches had been on the frames. I immediately called the store and asked for and appt to go over. (I didn’t say for what nor did I say anything pertaining to what I had discovered). I didn’t want to give them time to come up with an excuse. The following day I arrived at the business and asked the guy who had been helping me if I was given new frames. He stated that I had. I also asked if they had checked mine before giving them to me he said yes. I told him what my findings were and he denied that they were used. After showing him the oily matter using a toothpick, and showing him the touched up repainted parts he still denied they were used. After that I decided it wasn’t worth my time and proceeded to leave the store. I will never patronize nor refer anyone to this place. How they get all these other good reviews is beyond me. They probably have a few family members or friends of the family they ask to write their so called other excellent reviews. I KNOW BETTER.

5 stars for Dr. Hajati and her thorough eye examination, using the latest technology. She is a most patient and pleasant professional, along with the friendly office staff. Why not five stars overall? I sat down to try on a dozen frames for my new lenses, and found the perfect, stylish frames for my wide head… they went ahead and wrote up the order, penning in 3−2−0 as in $ 320! Wham! Turns out that I had tried on a pair of Armani frames, and they were more than happy to write that order up, since they had never told me what frames my vision insurance would cover. I caught them, just in time to order the standard frames, which were still $ 85. Customers need to know the insurance information in advance, in order to avoid the dreaded upsell… I was asked to to bring in my old glasses, which I did. It would have been a nice touch to have adjusted the tweaked-​out frames while I was getting my eyes examined, or at least while I was trying on the new frames. Sometimes it’s the little, and the big things, that separate good from great.

I’ve been a patient not only when Toluca Lake Eyecare bought the practice & office but I was a patient with the prior optometrist who sold this to Dr. Hagati for an additional 5 yrs, at least… so all in all, I’ve been a patient 15 years at least. 100% I recommend Dr. Hagati for all eyecare needs, etc. Her staff of 3 have been employed there almost as long as Dr. Hagati has from the beginning, so I’ve always always been pleased and I’d give them 6 stars, if allowed… you feel me, Homeslice? Word… DEUCES

This was our second time to get our annual exams and I regret not posting this review sooner to help people find a great optometrist.
The location is hidden in a shopping center, but it’s not a big deal. Parking isn’t an issue either.
I love that when my appointment is at 4pm; I’m taken in on time. I didn’t wait at all for the Dr. Hagati or her assistants: Eva and Joanne. The three of them are very professional and friendly. They are explained every step of the exam process. Even though my eyes are in good condition (I had LASIK done in 2005), I appreciated that Dr. Hagati explain the things to look out for because I’ve had surgery done. She explained something to me that I didn’t know happens during surgery. It’s nothing to worry about, but it’s being educated. She also went over my family history of thyroid problems and glaucoma/​cataracts and simply made sure to remind me to stay on top of getting my general health checked out since that can affect my vision.
My husband also goes with me and they make sure they while the Dr. sees me, they start his exams at the same time.
I highly recommend this place!

I have been coming here for three years now, love everyone here. Fast, friendly, helpful, wonderful people. I have, and will continue to recommend people to come here for all eye care needs.

Dr Hijati had been one of the best optometrist that I have ever been to. I give her 5 starts but unfortunately the staff lately has not been on the A game. I have left several messages and talk to Eva and Joanne and left message with them to talk to the Dr and it has been three weeks and I have not gotten a response. All I want to do is pay for a contact exam out of pocket and I can’t seem to get help. I am going on vacation soon and I don’t have anymore supply. I spoke to Eva and she promised to send me samples 3 weeks ago, I called back 1 week after and she took down all of my Info again and said she would send them. Two weeks later I called back since I hadn’t received anything and Eva was really short on the phone, I apologized for bugging but I was in dire need. She assured me that she had already sent them and I should receive them in the next few day. I am now approaching the end of 3 weeks and I STILL have not received anything. I live about 15 miles away and I still continued to use them because of the doctor now I have switched doctors because I feel I will get the same customer service closer to home. I’m very disappointed especially since I have been with this doctor for almost 10 years now.

I haven’t been to optometrist in 20+ years. I was having headaches and my eyes were sore and wanted to make sure it was just old age. I agreed for the added exams that are suggested to screen out things a standard exam would not cover.
After the standard exam, I was taken to do the more thorough tests. I was told that the readings were suspicious and should do them again which of course worried me because if they came back the same way I was going to have to go to a specialist I was told.
I was told I definitely needed glasses and was shuffled off to the eye glass sales counter where I was talked into a 200 $ pair of frames with the latest flexible material and no scratch lens. I asked what my vision was because at this time my eyes were so dilated that I couldn’t see clearly. I was told that the Dr. would be out to discuss with me further but of course was with other patients and wouldn’t be able to see me.
I inquired on the follow up tests and they said since i had to get glasses that I could retake the exams then. After a week and $ 256 (non-​refundable) I went to pick up my glasses and for the reexamination. I was told that the machine was being serviced and that I would have to come back yet again. While I was waiting I asked for a copy of my prescription which they handed to me after much delay. I also asked how my vision was and was told by sales agent that the prescription said it was ²⁰⁄₂₀!
Not understanding the entire process and how this works, I asked a friend who told me that my prescription was for 2.0 which are glasses I could have bought at the 99cent store!
I will agree that everyone is very nice but I am giving a low score for several reasons. They took advantage of someone that has no familiarity with the process and basically conned me into buying expensive glasses as well as paying for the extra exams which they never did have me retake. I had to spend more money to go to a second eye dr to have the tests redone. My sister had a similar experience and her eye dr. instructed her to go to Rite Aid and buy $ 2 glasses for reading!

I went to the office for the first time last week and the entire experience was great. The front staff are really nice and Dr. Hajati was very thorough and had great advice. I’ll definitely be using this office often.

This office is awesome. I live much further away now and have the opportunity to go to many other offices but I choose to remain here. They genuinely care from the doctor to the receptionist. They remember you as a person not just a patient.

So many good things about this office but the best of all is that every person in the office is awesome, kind and wonderful to talk to and deal with. In any office, that’s as good as gold!
