These guys are Volvo pros! Nick diagnosed my issue in seconds. Then Alfred gave me a solid quote and time for getting my moms 1987 back to her with a new timing belt. Honest. Efficient. And easy to talk to. Thanks guys!

These guys are AWESOME and very honest! They were able to diagnose and fix an evaporative emissions leak on a 2007 Audi A4 when my other awesome mechanic couldn’t find any issues. Alfred only charged me $ 95 diagnostic plus $ 45 for a purge valve replacement, no more check engine light! Other shops wanted at least $ 125/​hr diagnostic and one even quoted me 2 hours worth without seeing the car! Try them out for your European car.

Alfred is absolutely the best mechanic I’ve ever found. Always takes such good care of my car and is so kind and understanding. Everyone working there is nice, helpful and extremely knowledgeable. Wouldn’t go anywhere else.

This is my 5^th Volvo (1998 v70 GLT Wagon) and I’m so bummed I didn’t find Alfred sooner. Alfred is a gem of a man, as well as a knowledgeable Volvo mechanic. As echoed in other reviews, he is a man of few words, but knows Swedish cars inside and out.
Another mechanic in his shop, Edwin, worked on my car, and together we did a compression test which a local Volvo mechanic wanted to charge me $ 100 for — it turns out that not only did the oil filler cap gasket need replacing (he could have charged me for the gasket and the cap, but didn’t — only the gasket) but the third plug needed replacing so we replaced all 5 with genuine Volvo plugs, even though I asked for aftermarket ones. I’m glad now we did. They will last longer and allow the car to run better than OEM ones. He cares about my engine lasting — another mechanic might have bent to my wishes and installed aftermarket plugs that didn’t either a) run so long or b) damage my engine.
Alfred advised me that the thermometer needed replacing also so that will be done next and for sure it will be done by him. My car has 214,000 miles on it and it looks brand new and I want it to keep going and there’s no reason it can’t go to 400,000. It runs like a top and Alfred is my man from now on! But p. s. — don’t bring him donuts. :-)

Volvos are diva cars. You need to take them to specialized places only. After having a bad experience with another place in the area, I looked on line and found Alfred’s Auto Tech. Glad I did. For a few years we take our Volvo here for maintenance work and all sorts of repairs.
Alfred is a man of a few words, but he has the same people working for him, that makes things easier. They take care of everything within the same day, unless they need to order parts and they get it done ASAP, by next day or so. They care, they make sure they don’t keep your car for long. They also check your car for free if the engine light comes up or something like it. They make sure everything is safe, but they don’t change parts that can last you a bit longer just to charge you more, so that’s nice nowadays.
Clean place, Alfred is nice, he even kept the place opened later when we had to tow the car to him last year for an emergency situation. This is a place we trust and I’m glad it’s close by.

I just started a new job in the area and my Nissan wouldn’t pass smog and everywhere I went I was told I had to get a new catalytic converter. This was after the 4 O2 sensors were replaced and didn’t do the trick… I was down to the wire and just couldn’t bare to give this other mechanic more money after milking me for hundreds already. So I Unilocal’d the area I work in called him, knowing Saabs are hard cars to work on so he may be able to figure out my issue… sure enough, he did it! He worked on the car and even took it over to the neighbor smog shop and «got’er done!» Thank you!

I’m a new ‘used’ Volvo owner. I was told, because of a check engine light, that I needed a new Catalytic Converter. OOOooo, a very pricey affair. I was calling around to get quotes and spoke to Alfred himself who questioned that need. I took it to him to check out, he tested the vehicle and sent me immediately to Joe’s Smog to get my certificate! I have found my Volvo’s hospital and feel very confident that Alfred and his team will take very good care of me and my car. I highly recommend Alfred’s Swedish Auto Tech to any Volvo owners out there.

I had an unusual brake emergency for my 13 year old SAAB and Alfred’s auto tech was recommended to me by a friend. My car was dealt with promptly. After driving on the repair I was sensing something wrong. I brought my car back to the shop and they car was re-​examined to make sure everything was done correctly, it was. The car runs great.
I highly recommend this shop. They know there stuff. Very reasonable as well.

Alfred saved me a bunch of money with his expert knowledge of Saabs. I was afraid I needed a new power steering unit when it was just the belt that had broken off. When another mechanic thought I needed a new alternator, Alfred informed me the alternator was fine and that I needed the voltage regulator replaced. My car is all fixed up and he saved me lots of time and money! I highly recommend him to any Saab or Volvo owner.

I’ve been a customer of Alfred’s for nearly a decade of my Saab 93. I have been very pleased with the customer service of Alfred and his team. My Saab is still running great, and I have been very lucky to have found a great mechanic!

Excellent service. I was told (and read on line) that the problem was not fixable. There was a warning light for the soft top that was triggered by a microswitch. On all the Saab boards (it is a 1998 900 S) it was recommended to take out the computer and disable the warning to get rid of the tone and light. Not only did they clean, lubricate and recalibrate the top, they fixed the problem and the sensor no longer goes off. For this they charged me for 1 hour of labor. I think I have found a new place for the maintenance on my little red convertible.

My original review still stands – only now I have a 2009 Honda Fit Sport. These guys are great. Car problems are always the worst, but I know I’m in good hands with Swedish Auto Tech. (I sound like a commercial. :D)

Whenever my 1991 240 wagon needs something repaired that I don’t have time to take care of myself, I have absolutely no qualms about taking her into Alfred’s. This shop is top notch and their services are priced very fairly. I’d highly recommend this place to anyone who drives a vintage Volvo or Saab.

Alfred is truly one of a kind. I’ve been taking my car to him for more than 10 years now and every single service is a great experience. He is truly one of the few remaining honest and trustworthy mechanics in town.
He focuses on solving your problem, not selling you anything you don’t need or can’t afford. I started taking my SAAB to him but I now drive all the way from Santa Monica to have my BMW serviced there — because there is simply no-​one else who can do what Alfred does at the same price.

I have been coming to this place for my Saab needs for about 4 years. Alfred is a very great mechanic and a very honest one. I have been bringing my 4 Saabs to him for regular maintenance or whenever any small problems arise. His prices are the best that i have seen for Saab mechanics. He has always fixed my cars with precision, he knows his cars really well. I highly recommend this place to any Saab enthusiast or anyone who has a Saab. SAVED ME MONEY
Alfredo is such a great mechanic and I regret not going to him before. I used to go to him for everything but only briefly stopped because it was a little bit out of my way. I won’t make the same mistake again. Here is my story…
I have a 01 Saab 9 – 3 convertible and after noticing minor clunking noises was told by 2 other mechanics that both the tranny and motor mounts would need replacing and that it would cost me between 700-​$ 800 which I’m sure is fair for the parts and labor but either way I wasn’t happy about it. So I decided to call Afredo and he advised me to bring the car in for him to check it out in person because he wasn’t sure which ones would need replacing and that some of them were on back order. So I brought the car in expecting the worst. I went out to have breakfast. 10 minutes into my breakfast they call me and tell me they need to show me something and all I’m thinking is «oh shit». When I went back he showed me that all of the mounts were ok except the tranny and motor mount on the driver side (they were completely broken). He replaced it since he had the parts there and in the end only cost me $ 130. He could have easily told me that all of them needed replacing and charged me the price the other shops wanted to charge me. He saved me a great deal of money and I will never not go to him again. The «helpful» and «friendly» man the other reviews talked about must have been on his day off when I stopped by this morning. I needed a new ignition switch, and told the half-​awake mechanic that’s what I needed.
His confusion, lack of interest, and general air of having no idea what my issue was (it’s a Volvo shop, and I have a Volvo) made me realize that maybe the dealership was a better option (it was).

Finding an honest mechanic is really hard to come by in any town. These guys were so incredibly honest and impeccable with their word. Completely and totally trustworthy. Highly recommend these car for all your car engine needs.

His prices are fair and lower than the dealer. On a major service you can save $ 100+. The mechanics are former Volvo/​Saab employees from Sweden and certified. They know the cars really well.

I have been bringing both my Volvo’s; a 1991 740 turbo sedan and a 1994 940 wagon, to Alfred at Alfred’s Swedish Auto Tech, and his brother Nick for the past 10 years, and now also a new mechanic, and a very gentle man, named Arsham, who they hired a few years ago into their work place family.
Trying to describe the comfort, confidence, trust, and deep respect I have for every one of these men is honestly very easy because, collectively and individually, they have consistently been incredibly stellar examples and what I believe, the epitome of these attributes always.
From the very first time I walked into Alfred’s Swedish Auto Tech, Alfred and Nick impressed me as being, not only two extremely skilled, knowledgeable, and talented mechanics, but they were equally honest, forthright, caring, sincere and of genuine character. And all of this with the added bonus of being very fair and reasonable for their parts and labor charges than any garage I had used previously.
