I’ve been studying at Stuart’s for almost four years now and it’s been a wonderful experience in so many ways. I really can’t say enough good things about it and have recommended the studio to quite a few people who have all really benefit from the classes as well.
I received a BFA from Acting at Rutgers, and have had 10 or more other acting teachers in the past 20 years. Stuart is on a level all of his own. His personalized attention to every student, his passion for being an artist and encouraging others to follow their ambitions in art, and his sheer enjoyment of doing what he loves, and doing it WELL, make him different from any other instructor I’ve ever met.
The big difference here, especially in comparison to other acting schools in LA, is that you don’t just receive direction when it comes to your scene work. You’re given practical tools, long-​term skills, and hours of experience that are invaluable. You’re made to be «director-​proof» so that you could work with a director of any talent and still produce your best work.
Another reason why I stay is that my lessons are never finished. There is always more and I am always being challenged to keep going, reach new levels, and get to places in my work I never imagined I could go. The tools are practical and they’re laid out clearly.
In addition to the amazing teaching, this studio has become one of the most inspiring and creative artistic communities I have ever been a part of. I highly recommend this school to anyone, no matter your background.

I’ve been studying at Stuart Rogers Studios for nearly half a decade now and can honestly say that Stuart is one of the most profound and genuine artist whom I have ever met. His care, attention, and passion for theatre and film are second to none, and he runs his classroom in such a way that those traits become contagious. Unfailingly, I leave his class excited to continue along my own path as an artist.
Perhaps the most important part of his methods, at least for me, stems from the fact that he treats all art with the same mindset, making him an ideal teacher for writers, directors, and actors even in the same classroom setting. His penchant for understanding story goes hand in hand with his uncanny perception – he’s the kind of guy who can see through BS and isn’t afraid to give it to you straight. I’ve found that the best acting teachers are the ones who are willing to tell you the truth, to put art over feelings, and are open to changing their minds.
To that end, his method is not confined to any one school of thought, but pulls from many of the greats and is colored by his own personality and experiences. He then keeps his curriculum open to adaptation in the hopes that he will always find a better way to reteach actors and writers how to be human.
It’s his lack of an «I’m right, you’re wrong» attitude that keeps me coming back. Instead we debate, converse, and fight for truth, not victory (though usually, I’m wrong).
I entered his class full of ideas about what acting should be and have found in his teachings that the best actors always have more to learn. He will shatter your preconceptions, and you will emerge better and stronger for it.
I’ve seen new students literally transform from mindless automatons with no soul and a bag of actor tricks (I was this guy) into some of the most incredible actors I’ve ever seen.

I started studying with Stuart in the beginning of 2013. After being a professional actor for almost 30 years I had lost my passion, drive and my identity as an artist. Circumstances were dire, my self esteem was non existent, and I had become insanely nervous at auditions.
Within a few weeks of just sitting in Stuart’s class I began to book again. My passion was back because I was surrounded by incredibly talented actors who actually cared. And after only a brief conversation with Stuart, I now have a simple trick for nerves that WORKS!
Stuart truly understands the the human psyche. He has developed a technique that allows the actor to effortlessly tap into their own creative power. This technique is easily understandable and doable. It creates a freedom for the actor that is pure creative gold.
Stuart has created a safe environment where actors can grow, play, and thrive. I actually can’t say enough about him, his technique, and the people he attracts. Whether you are new to acting or haven’t been in a class in for awhile this place will rock you… in a great way.

As a graduate of a Master of the Fine Arts program, a teacher of acting, and a working actor, I didn’t think I would ever find myself in an acting class again. However, three years ago, I was recommended to investigate Stuart’s class — and I’ve been going back ever since.
Stuart is one of the few teachers that I have met in Los Angeles who develops a long-​term plan for student growth, including, but not limited to, artistic exploration, professional development, audition technique, self-​discovery, practical application on stage and screen, and self sufficiency. In one building, Stuart brings together all the elements of the actor’s craft and life and, through painstaking personal attention, good humor, and generous accountability, he makes each actor responsible for his or her own process, career, and life. Stuart is demanding and thorough, intelligent and wry, funny and insightful. He is one of the most intuitive and accessible teachers I have ever seen, and his feedback for actors relates not only to their work for that evening but also to their growth over the arc of their careers.
Stuart and his teachers are producing and will produce actors of long merit and solid technique because every member of the Studio is committed to a holistic and total envisioning of the actor as artist. Stuart doesn’t offer easy answers, quick fixes, or any form of idolatry — either for persons or technique — but he does provide a sacred space for inquisitive and yearning actors to better themselves and achieve ownership of their process. I have never felt more supported, more challenged, more invigorated, or more energized than when I take part in Stuart Rogers Studios.

I studied with Stuart for ten years, until I moved to New York, and he is by far the best acting teacher I ever had. I studied with all of the trendy gurus like Howard Fine, Larry Moss, BHP, etc… None of them came even close to touching on what is really at the heart of acting the way Stuart did. His classes are scene study, but also cold reading, audition technique, general acting business administration, and more. They primarily entail critiques for scene work and engaging discussion in which students are encouraged to discuss, ask questions, and even challenge things that they do not understand in order that they may better own their craft. It’s not a lecture, it’s a dialogue. Stuart is by no means a guru. His classes consist of supportive, bright, inquisitive, real actors. In addition, the classes are part of the award winning Theatre Tribe company. The space is perfect for shows and class. Stuart is a super generous, nurturing, intelligent teacher who knows acting and understands the human condition better than anyone I have met.

I met Stuart Rogers over 8 years ago when I attended his annual NYC workshop. I have been a devoted supporter of his approach ever since. At the time I had reached the point of complete despondence with the teachers/​coaches that I had worked with up to that point. Taking his workshop struck a cord in me that immediately changed my acting experience and brought me to new depths of involvement and connection. I realized I would be a fool to let it pass through my fingers. Therefore, I knew there was nothing else for me to do except relocate to Los Angeles to have the ability to study with him on a regular basis. I have been thankful ever since then that I listened to my gut instinct and made that choice. Once I started classes, my eyes were opened to a whole new perspective on acting which changed my art forever. I have reached a level of fulfillment, understanding, and enjoyment in my work that I never realized was possible.

Stuart is a phenomenal teacher! I love this studio. Stuart has cultivated a safe environment for actors to learn & grow. I know that I can trust him to guide me & help me become a self-​sufficient actor. He teaches the whole class, yet has very specific lesson plans for each individual student.
