Millennium Dance Complex

Millennium Dance Complex is a great studio just because it offers the highest caliber of Industry dance choregraphers and dancers that come to be audition ready or just want to challenge themselves mentally and physically. The studio is in the heart of North Hollywood Arts District. When you walk in the first thing you see are the many pictures and posters autographed by the celebrities that have visited the studio whether it was for rehearsing for a tour or actor/​actress rehearing for a movie or TV role. You have several rooms where you find choreographers or dancers that rent the space to rehearse or hold auditions. The big main room is where the bigger classes of 50 or more hold class. This is also the studio where you get the industry dancers getting filmed and see the videos on different types of social media. I have taken several classes here and I thought it would be intimidating but it really is more of a mental thing — definitely a studio for those who want a challenge or a taste of the choreography industry dance life. Also, be very professional because you never know who will be walking in the halls.

Super cool studio! Great faculty with a lot of variation. Usually the studio is packed but it’s still a great vibe. Wish the would be a little better with starting classes on time but still fine. Will go back!

Now this is a dance studio! With so many rooms and talented dancers, choosing one isn’t easy! I love this place!

Ok guys, let me preface this by saying that I’m by no means a professional industry dancer, but I have professional dance experience.
Millennium is a perfect platform for dancers to come and get exposed and be scene. It’s for seasoned dancers trying to get scouted for gigs. they offer incredible dance classes from well connected creative industry professionals. However this isn’t somewhere to come and learn the one two steps of dance.
For me who doesn’t want to gain industry experience, but want to explore dance for myself, this place has just become a place for me to make connections with dance teachers who offer private lessons, such as Brinn (owner of pumpfidence). Unfortunately it’s easy to get lost in a crowd and fall through the cracks when regular dancers come to class, so I have to come take privates, which is fine.
I also rent space here a lot too for my private classes. Parking sucks at night, and it’s a rough area.
The front staff isn’t too friendly, kind of snooty because millennium is a cult that you are either IN or OUT of.
Don’t come here expecting to train, come here for exposure. DO YOUR RESEARCH ON TEACHERS BEFORE YOU PAY FOR THEIR CLASS SO YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED. 45 minutes is learning choreo, 30 mins is filming usually. So don’t expect to be corrected.
There are specific gem teachers who care about growth, so do your research.
Lots of international people, very diverse, very creative.

With it’s friendly environment, great energy, and incredible choreographers, Millennium Dance Complex is a great place to spend an hour just doing the one thing that I love most. Dancing.

So close to home and I can honestly say Dance Millennium has helped me improve my dancing. Hip hop classes are always full but it’s worth it everyone is there for a reason. Going at specific times or days with different instructors helps a lot since some classes are smaller than others. Parking is bad so I take a bus since they pass pretty fast. Sure it’s costly but what do you expect this studio has been getting more attention now and bringing in more students from other states!

I LOVE Millennium. First you walk in and see the walls lined with pictures of dance legends and celebrities that have all passed through this studio. Invigorating energy and inspiration fills the studio with students of all ages leaving it all on the floor. Every day there is a variety of classes taught by amazing, successful, and caring instructors. I’m awed by every class I take here. It can be a challenge to keep up with the choreography, especially if it’s crowded, but the teachers are really helpful if you need them to go over something and they have you do it in groups throughout the class too. From my experience the most crowded classes tend to be hip hop; I took a contemporary class and it wasn’t too bad.
At the end of class you’ll perform the combination in groups and you’ll have the opportunity to take videos. And if you get a little starstrucked by the instructors like I do, they’ll let you take pictures with them as well.
Really talented people go to Millennium, even professionals, so it’s always fun to go and get inspired by those you’re taking class with. Also the price is amazing if you get the class packs! You can pay as low as $ 5.25 per class, so if you’re looking for intensive, eclectic training this is the place to go… they even offer yoga.

Took my son there for classes and people are just so nice there! They were able to accommodate him for classes during our stay in NoHo. At no time that we feel like an outsider. I can see that the operation is very well run and the staff are well trained to help dancers of all ages. Highly recommend the studio!

So Its been a little over one Year of Hard Work Dancing and Learning New Moves and Styles
Stuck it out and continue to push myself all the time and now it just flows like water.
Millennium Dance Complex place has changed my life in such a Big Big Way… So Blessed !!!

Millennium is my sons home away from home. It was the first studio he started training at when he would fly in from Hawaii. Since then, the training he has had with some of the worlds best choreographers, has without a doubt been the key to his success. He is a working, paid 13 year old and I’m so thankful he has such a great place to train and call home. Love Millennium

For someone that drives an hour to get to and from class, trust me, you’ll love Millennium. They offer a great variety of classes and class times, that you are sure to find something to fit your needs and schedule. Prepare to be inspired by the international talent and choreographers here!

My daughter has taken many hip hop dance classes here. She mainly takes Matt’s class. We have always been able to find parking nearby. It’s LA, so you can’t always expect to park right next to the building. Since my daughter has been coming to Millennium, her dance skills have increased 100%. World-​class dancers and choreographers go to this studio. Matt’s classes are usually pretty full — since my daughter started taking his classes, he has become very popular on YouTube, and he just performed with Taylor Swift. What an inspiring environment!

Eh. It is what it is.
I come here usually only if I have rehearsals or an audition for something. The staff is way nicer than they used to be when i first went to Millenium so that is refreshing. The parking is TERRIBLE. If you have a rehearsal or want to make it to dance class on time, get there super early to find street parking. Because this studio is well-​known and appears to be the trendy spot on tv, there are non-​dancers that come in to «hang out» in the studio which is very frustrating since the studio is already super small to begin with. Just be ready to be crammed up wherever you go at this studio.

While this studio is known as the studio to take hip hop class in LA, they are not the top studio anymore. Many of the other studios in the area have upgraded and their facilities out do Millenium ten-​fold.
The studios are old and always smell of sweat. Classes are also the most expensive in the area at $ 15 a class.
Another downside is that half the time, most of the teachers they have, don’t really teach.
Overall though, it’s a nice studio to come take hip hop in every once in a while. But in my opinion, there are other studios that offer you more for a better price!

I had a great experience at Millennium. I have always wanted to take a class here, and decided to do so while I was in town. I took the Basic Hip Hop class with Nicky T. I was able to sign up online ahead of time, but a lot of people were walking in and paying when they arrived.
I got there early, and was able to snag a parking space in the back lot. I was also able to watch a couple of the classes that were in session. I absolutely loved Nicky T’s class. The music was great, he was upbeat and positive, and I had a great time. He was easy to follow, and I realized that I still had some of my skills.
I read a lot of reviews beforehand that stated that the classes here are a little more advanced. Well… It’s Millennium! My advice is to just show up, be confident, and remember that there will always be someone in the same boat. We take classes to become better, so I encourage anyone who may be a little intimidated to give it a shot.

Heres my last review of the four major dance studios in LA.
Ah Millenium… pretty much one of the oldest hip hop focused studios in LA… other granddaddy being Debbie Reynolds. This place was really popular in the 90s and 2000s. Part of the Nsync and Britney era. Which you can clearly see when you goto this place. All the walls with signed posters of Britney, Usher, Nsync etc. And since been around awhile the place while clean its seen better younger days. Really need a remodel. Getting old to the point of looking like a hole in the wall dump.
In terms of type of Hip Hop its more in the bubble gum commericial type of hip hop… ie. the mentioned Britneys, JLos etc. Which if you like that type of style Millenium is perfect for you. Its their niche. Unlike the other 3 major studios like: Edge-​Jazz/​Ballet, Debbie Reynolds-​Street hip hop, and Movement Lifestyle-​Urban hip hop.
Teachers are pretty much some of the dancers currently working as backup dancers for Beyonce, Justin Timberlake etc… ie…the mentioned commericial hip hop.
Classes are offered throughout the day from 11am to 10pmish. And the only studio thats opened pretty much 365 days a year. Even xmas eve they open. I guess good for you guys who can’t go without dance for even a day!
Parking is on the streets or some few spots in the back.
And another big negative for me is the price. Its the most expensive of the studios. Per class is $ 15 compared to the other studios who charge $ 13-​$ 11. I guess since they think they are famous you have to pay premium price? You do get discount if you buy in bulk but I don’t like how its pretty much forced on you to do that if want to dance there on a consistent affordable basis.
Millenium is a decent place for hip hop. You can experience what that commericial type of hip hop is about. Its just that Debbie Reynolds or Movement Lifestyle seems to be where that hardcore from the street hip hop is these days. And these two studios I would go if really want to train in hip hop.
Anyway, take a chance and go check out any of the studios and go dance! Will change your life!

I remember the first class I took here was taught by Shane Sparks… that in itself makes me realize just how long ago it was since I first stepped into this iconic dance studio back in 2006.
I had taken some time off but came back to the world of dance, making Donyelle’s ‘Hip Jazz’ class an escape on Monday and Wednesday early afternoons. The stretching part kills me, but the combination at the end makes up for everything. I remember she taught us a great routine to ‘Butterflies’ by Michael Jackson, literally a week before his passing. That routine was a favorite of mine as well as the rest of us.
My class had a variety of levels, from those who have been dancing since conception, to ones like me who have been out of the program for some time, and finally to those who have never taken a class in their life. Donyelle’s teaching will appeal to everyone at any level.
I also attempted a jazz class taught by someone else, but realized how much I sucked so I didn’t stay for the entire session, but that doesn’t mean you should not try it if you have a strong jazz background.
I really enjoy having this dance studio in my neighborhood.
