LD Moving & Storage

LD Moving was contracted by a broker moving company Budget Van Lines. This was by far the worst experience I have ever encountered with a moving company, and I have moved cross country a few times. It took 30 days, the full 21 business days for delivery. They picked up my items on February 5^th. First, they said my belongings would be delivered 2/​21, then 2/​29, then ¾, then finally they delivered on ³⁄₇. Not to mention, they never called to provide an update. I always had to track them down to find out why they weren’t here. Major inconvenience! My parents drove 4 hours to help me get settled. It would have been nice to know the movers were not coming. When they finally delivered, they were missing a floor lamp and a box. Another floor lamp was broken. Dishes and plant pots were broken in boxes. My desk and dresser were scratched. They were supposed to put the furniture back together that was taken apart at pick up. The legs were put together backwards. Some of the seating in the chairs were not even screwed in. I found out the hard way when I fell to the floor. It was a horrible experience from beginning to end. The sad part is that there is no recovery. Do not trust this company with your belongings — you have been warned!

Where to start, the theft from my own home or the shady pricing?
These criminals were sent to us on behalf of Budget Van Lines, who will be earning their own review for choosing to partner with these people. After loading all our belongings, they told us the price would be almost TRIPLE what Budget Van Lines quoted. HOWEVER, they will do you the huge favor of giving you a reduced flat rate only double what Budget quoted, if you TIP THEM $ 400 CASH! Seriously? If I didn’t have a flight to catch I would have called the police to escort them off my property and watch as my belongings were safely unloaded myself! Oh but wait, theres more!
I had my Ugg boots, jeans, and a sweater sitting on top of my suitcase to change out of my dirty moving clothes and wear to the airport. BIG SURPRISE, the Ugg boots went missing! I walked onto the truck to look for them and they threatened me! I looked in the cab, at which point I was screamed at to get away. Again, should have called the police but I was hopeful that the morons «accidentally» packed them into a box. Well they didn’t. Boots still missing. I will be filing an insurance claim against them along with the other items that went missing.
On top of all this, they told me my shipment would arrive within 3 days, but after they left I got a call stating it would actually be up to 2 weeks, and I can’t get my belongings back or even know where they took them! With enough calls to Budget Van Lines, they were somehow able to miraculously get the truck to our destination in 5 days.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! HUGE RIP OFF!!!

Recently had a move done by LD and can’t say nothing but good things! The movers were fast, efficient, and friendly but most importantly, they took good care of my items. Overall a very pleasant experience!

This company is full of crap! Do not use LD Moving and Storage. Just like the others, my initial contact was excellently smooth. David Mor was INITIALLY kind and attentive, answered all my questions; only later to realize all his answers were LIES. The movers came to move my things, already packed, mind you. Once 90% of the items are in the truck, the foreman advised that my moving costs increased $ 1,100, but he would give me a discount of $ 300. LMAO; I can only laugh now as my ordeal is over and I haven’t killed anyone. I was later advised the my items would be delivered between ¹⁰⁄₁₂ and 10÷15÷15. After I emailed to follow up on 10÷14÷15 for a delivery time on 10÷15÷15, I received a text from the mover who was an independent contractor, NOT LD Moving. Mind you, I was told by David Mor and Nelly that no contractors are used. Also, expected a discount or credit since they were late. These people don’t give a darn about you or your crap. The mover himself told me he was a contractor as I cursed him for filth for trying to charge me more money as the truck was more than 75 feet from my apartment on the 14^th floor. I told him to unload the truck in the parking lot and my friend and I would move my own stuff as there was no way I was going to pay a penny more. Initially, he agreed but then realized that LD Moving had done me wrong, apologized for their business practices and did carry my things to the freight elevator. Also, there were 2 lamps completely broken and 2 lamps scratched up and a complete box damp as if emerged in water. It’s obvious that filing a claim will only yield aggravation and no real resolution, but I will be filing a report with the Better Business Bureau. DO NOT USE THESE LYING CROOKS. You will only want to fly back out to CA and find them all for reckoning.

Just like everyone else here is saying, my initial dealings with David were pleasant. LD’s quote was $ 600 more than another company’s but David convinced me to read their reviews and see that they nickel & dime their customers. I talked to my husband about it and we decided with everything going on in our lives it made sense to pay a little more for better service.
The day of our move, we were charged an additional fee because the movers had to use extra furniture pads on our china cabinet. Every other company includes furniture pads in the cost of the move and David said it was included in ours. We had no choice but to pay the additional fee or the movers said our cabinet would most likely break. I called David the next day and he said he would look into the fees for me.
Six days later I still hadn’t heard from him and Nelly calls me to schedule our delivery. I have never dealt with someone so rude in my life. As I am explaining the issue to her, she abruptly cuts me off and says «WHO TOLD YOU WE PAY FOR PACKAGING?!» Then she said I had to talk to customer service but she didn’t know if the Manager would be in that day, but the next day she was in she would have her call me.
Then Isabella called me. She told me that the cost to wrap our china cabinet wasn’t included in my move because they didn’t know we had one. Then when I told her that I included an inventory list and it was included in there she said that people often wrap their own china cabinets and because we didn’t that is why we were charged. Really? She was extremely condescending, although not as bad as Nelly. Maybe that is the only criteria for being in customer service at this company. When I asked to talk to someone else, she said she was the highest person in the company. I asked her if she had a boss, and she said no. Apparently at LD, Customer Service Manager = CEO. I guess that is why she gets to choose if she wants to come to work that day and at what time. After I complained to Isabella, my one month of free storage was rescinded. I was told if I wanted storage, I would have to pay $ 600 for it.
The week of the delivery, the driver kept calling to tell me he wasn’t going to be able to get down our street so he was going to need to transfer our things into a shuttle and charge us an extra $ 850. I told him that we built this house, had construction crews, large deliveries, a moving pod, etc. all delivered without issue. The day of the delivery, the driver gets FIFTY feet from our house, walks up our driveway and tells us he can’t go any farther because of the cable wires. I asked him if he could just bring it from the truck to the garage since they were so close. He said yes, but I will have to charge you an extra fee for having to walk down your driveway instead of pulling up to the door. Then we asked him to leave the furniture pads on the china cabinet since we paid for them. He charged us another $ 20 to keep them. How can you charge for the same thing twice?
LD is all about finding ways to justify extra fees and they have horrible customer service. I filed a claim against them with federal government (
) and Better Business Bureau (
). Of course they never responded. If you have bad experiences with them, PLEASE FILE A COMPLAINT. That is the only way they will stop taking advantage of their customers. Know your rights as well. They legally can’t charge you more than 110% of the original quote — although the did in my case — and they are supposed to provide you either with an in home estimate or a quote with a range that includes a price they cannot exceed. Again something they did not do for us. Better yet, save yourself the headaches and hire another company to move you.

If you like to get ripped off and have bad customer service then you found the right company. I would NOT use these guys again. I would rather throw my stuff away and by new when I got to my new home then have them move anything. It would be cheaper this way.
It all started okay, got a real good quote and the customer service was super, but when the guys came to load everything it started to go downhill once they had it on the truck. Once loaded the price doubled then what was quoted. the guy told me he would give me a discount if I provided a tip between 200 and 500 bucks… what???
Then after all the paperwork was signed the stuff was on its way. I was relocating from CA to the east coast and wanted to utilize the month of «free» storage, Once I got to the east coast and found an apartment (all within the 30 days) I called to schedule my items to be delivered. This is where things went way wrong.
I was told at this point that I owed 425 for a month of storage. I was told that even though I was with my 30days it went across two different calendar months (August 20^th through September 4^th) I needed to pay for the storage in September. I asked way it wasn’t prorated then and was instructed that they do not prorate for the month.
So upset about this I still wanted my stuff so I said whatever and scheduled to get my items loaded to bring out to me. I received a call on Tuesday from the shipping department saying that my items where loaded and she would be calling on Thursday to tell me where they are and provide me with a delivery date. I got no word from them on Thursday so I called them Friday morning and was told by the receptionist that the shipping person I needed to speak with went home early and to call back Monday. So at this time I asked for an invoice so I knew my final cost and was told that the accounting department also left for the day.
I called back Monday and was told my stuff was not loaded on Tuesday due to a change in shipping and if I wanted could get it scheduled this week to load. At this point I’m PI@#$ed because no one called me to tell me that my stuff was NOT loaded and they still couldn’t provide me an estimated time of arrival. I just got a call this morning 6 weeks later from the time I had my stuff packed and was informed I was going to be charged for yet another month of storage because its now October and they still had my stuff in storage even though I have been battling with them for two weeks trying to schedule a delivery time.
Its been a nightmare dealing with this company and how they do busy (or lack of). Im paying for two months of storage, a doubled quote and still have no stuff. The feeling I get when dealing with this company is that they do not care what happens to my stuff or how long I’m without it, because they will just bill me more or hold it hostage until I pay.
the 4’s and 5’s are more then likely people that work at this company that are writing reviews to make un-​expecting people fall into their trap. If you do go with them, I wish you the best that you don’t get screwed like me and the many others out there they are taking advantage of.
So I finally got my items delivered and things were missing, damaged and broken. They stored my washing machine upside down in the truck so when they took the moving blanket off, all the oil and grease from the motor ran down the side. Seeing this I went into the garage to get a towel and the stupid movers were moving it into my house. they tracked oil and grease all over my carpet. they I physically watched them drop the washer well going up the stairs. This of course dented the crap out of it and caused even more oil and grease to be on my carpet. I approached the movers on them breaking my washer and they just stated «you have to file out a claim»…What customer service!
I took pictures of all the damages on all my items, washer, dry, furniture, wall, carpet, etc… as instructed within the claims paperwork. The estimated damage and items missing totally roughly $ 1500 (just new washer would be $ 500 for a cheap one). after 4 weeks of dealing with the claims depart I get this email today:“You are entitled to $ 231.00 which was authorized by the investigative team.”…REALLY!!!
After all the double charges, hidden costs, broken items, damages to my home and missing stuff… just for a piece of mind stay clear of this 2 bit company that just wants to steal from you and make a stressful event like moving even more stressful.

After being quoted over $ 3300 to move my items from LA to Florida I was given LD Moving and Storage from a friend. Well a big thanks to my friend and to LD moving and storage. The process was smooth in every aspect. I was quoted at $ 2100.
Well I was skeptical and chose LD moving and storage. I couldn’t have been happier with my choice!
Not only did LD moving and storage meet all of their deadlines and dates, they were courteous, professional and friendly.
I paid the quoted amount and not a penny more. I wished I knew about LD moving and storage when I was paying Schick a monthly storage fee of 150.00. for the past 3 years!

Who even wrote the reviews with the 4 – 5 stars? Don’t be fooled by the «great reviews»
I love Unilocal,and I love writing reviews but I never thought I would be writing such a bad review. I would usually hold my anger in and let it go, but not with this.
TL;DR: Don’t use this company, you’ll be fooled and be forced to spend more than double the budget you originally planned to spend.
My experience with this company has been absolutely disgusting. Never had I been filled with so much anger, lost so much patience, and cheated out of so much money.
You know the words, «are you sure this is my final price? no additional prices in between? surprise fees»? and «absolutely». COMPLETELY FALSE.
More like well ship move your items for free but when we have your cars or your home packages with us in the middle of nowhere, well take them as hostage and force you to pay an additional $ 400 – 500.
I needed to move from California to Massachusetts, which I know wasn’t an easy move considering its completely across the country. After calling dozens of companies and comparing prices, this company «had the best deal» of them all. AKA in the end I paid for more than I would have with other companies.
I shipped a medium storage space with lots of boxes and some personal items like chairs, desks.
The boxes that did arrive: ³⁰⁄₅₀ were squished and broken, BROKEN CHAIR and BROKEN Part of a SAFE Box. NONE OF THE MISSING PARTS IN WHICH THEY RETURNED TO ME.
Its not even repairable! My chair? it’s a rolling office chair with the leg BROKEN IN HALF.
I try sitting on it and forgiving the broken piece, but I CANT. the chair is not stable and cannot be sat one.
MY safe? My $ 600 safe that I asked them to be careful with? I dont even know how bad they mishandled my items and my safe since the silver rim surrounding the number pad FELL OFF. Its a large piece, so at least RETURN IT TO ME? i can at least use super glue and glue it on.
but no ok just keep it? and NOT LET me know until the items has ALREADY arrived at my house.
Thanks for the heads up, aka whatever broken items you have they dont care, they wont tell you, you’ll be stuck with the items after they arrive and you have no one to complain to.
I filed a claim for this with their insurance company, but I expect to hear back in like 2 years. because do they actually care and compensate? I doubt it.
My original quote price was DOUBLED once they loaded the items and boxes onto the shipping truck. What could i DO? My stuff was already stuffed in the truck, I couldnt possibly ask them to remove everything from the truck.
That’s only one of the ways they cheat you from money. Sure whatever I’ll be open minded and forget about it since I did have quite a lot of stuff– not even the size of a studio apartment.
ASIDE FROM THIS. Let me explain to you about my 2 cars that I shipped with them also.
I was so happy about how great a deal it was to ship 2 cars across the country for a discounted amount. The price of what 1 – 2 cars would cost at another company. I received such a discount because I was ‘shipping three items“

but «NOTIFYING ME that I had to pay another $ 450 because the driver insisted that was lowest price»
excuse me, didnt we agree there were NO HIDDEN fees? What is this random $ 450? We dont make $ 100k a year, we WORK and make average worker salaries, you CANNOT just THROW a random $ 450 fee at me and giving my such a bullcrap excuse.
So my car is HALWAY across the country, and its held hostage until I pay?

WHEN THE CAR CAME? Just because my car is old you can just mishandle it? When the truck to drop of my cars, one was fine, while the other was DAMAGED. On the bottom of the car in the front, closest to the ground when the driver was taking it off the big shipping truck, HE CRACKED IT.

THEY DIDNT EVEN WANT TO GIVE ME A RECEIPT after I gave them the money order for the items moved. i had to literally FORCE them to give me one.
let me mention that I did call the driver multiple times to confirm a receipt would be given to me.
The driver got pissed and said he wanted cash– when i specifically said cash only IF i can’t get a money order
bottom line: DONT USE THIS COMPANY. USE LARGE CREDIBLE ONES. dont be fooled like me.

They ended up holding our furniture for over a month without payment or explanation, showed up with one hour’s notice.
Finally, when they showed up the movers told us they wouldn’t unload unless we gave them $ 1k in cash

Moved from West Hollywood, CA to New York, NY and was completely satisfied with this company. They kept me posted on the delivery date and it all arrived much sooner than expected. The move in was quick and professional. Moving is never easy, especially across the country, but they made it easier.

Moved from Torrance Ca. to Las Vegas, Nv. All services were exceptional. From pricing quote to delivery on time with no damages to any items. Thank-​you Tanya and delivery drivers!

The best was when they called me and tried to bribe me to take down my post. Can you believe they put it in writing?! So I sent it to the dept of transportation. What a scam!!!

I have never used a moving company before and I will never move again without one. I am so impressed with LD Moving Co. It was easy to negotiate terms with them and they delivered on every promise. The movers came on time both to pick up our load in California as well as on time delivering our belongings in Colorado. Kenneth was amazing. I was really nervous because I’ve never used a moving company before and he calmed all my fears. He answered all of my questions, and explained the whole process thoroughly from start to finish. (& all of our belongings were treated with great care and were delivered in excellent condition) If I could give them 10 stars I would absolutely do it. LD was amazing and I would highly recommend them.

Back in 2012 I had to move from LA to San Diego (about 130 miles). Called this company and wish I didn’t. We spent over an hour going over everything in my apartment that had to be moved. (Mind you I had everything already boxed so I knew exactly what needed to be done.) I also told them what else needed to be boxed or wrapped by them such as my elipitical and couch. They said not to worry and that they’d include it in the count. They also had me count the number of steps between my door and where the truck would be … so I felt like I had a pretty good quote. They also added in the driving time they estimated (3 hrs).
When they arrived the men were slow… eating away at minutes and adding to their pocket. Then they had to «recount» the distance which was crap… sure add more money to your pockets why not…
Then after they finally finished packing I asked them if they knew exactly where they were going and told them to take the toll road as it would be faster. Guess what… SHOCKING… they used the 5 instead … I got to the destination (left as same time) in under 3 hours… they took FIVE. I argue that I was not going to pay for the double drive time when they did not listen to me and pick the fasted route. i would have paid the 7 dollars for tolls rather than the hundreds added because they chose to ignore my request. Because I was calling every 30 minutes to see where they were… they did unload quickly finally and gave me a «discount». But don’t think it was accurate. the guy on the phone was not helpful and didn’t really apologize and just said they can’t control traffic. you’re right you can. t but you should be able to. go the right way driving.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY UNLESS YOU WANT TO PAY AS IF THEY ARE MOVING YOU IN A GOLDEN TRUCK WITH HORRIBLE SERVICE.
oh and then a year later I’m magically added to their «contact» list being harassed with text messages. I replied «stop», «removed», «cancel», and told them that I will be reporting them. I also called 4 times to complain and the lady was nice but clueless. I ended up reporting the company to an online site. Hopefully no one else os getting harassed but I do include that into my 1 star review because like I said this wasn’t a one time negative experience… it is multiple. Including recently when Unilocal told me they removed my previous review which I’m guessing ld filed a complaint to try to remove it… well guess what here it is again. Keep it. This is the truth about this awful awful moving company
Fyi, Unilocal recently removed my comment on this company. I understand removing comments if they are not justified but I have had nothing but horrible experience with this company and want to warn everyone of their horrible business.

The company is true to it’s words! Terra, who assisted me with my move did a great job and was available always to answer my questions. I have opted to pack the boxes myself and was wondering the final state of goods. But when I received them, they were all in the perfect shape as I packed them!
Also they told me the delivery will take about 7 to 21 days but I received the delivery exactly in 7 days for a cross country move!
Pickup timing wasn’t flexible but delivery timing was flexible!
You can definitely opt them for a long distant move…

–100 stars if possible. It was just ridiculous from the moment the movers came to the house. They «packed» my belongings but claim that i packed it. They scratched the hardwood floors from moving furniture. They got to the weight station and my weight was miraculously over the estimate. Even though I was skeptical, I let it pass because I just needed to move before my husband returned from deployment. As soon as my items and belongings got to my storage facility— boxes were damaged, antique furnitures that were inherited were damaged, my sons car seat was damaged and no longer in a packed box like how it was before, a wardrobe box full of my sons clothes and my clothes were missing. From the start I contacted Nelly about the damaged floors and was informed within two weeks of that call, someone would come to repair the damages— nothing. Over 18 months gone by — - still nothing. Many emails and calls were exchanged about this. When my claim was filed— insurance people calling me asking me for the claims form and etc. Asked for missing items pictures and asked for the inventory — - it was already provided! I asked them «are you joking? You have everything!!!» Then it was then saying I’m going to talk to Nelly and call back then nelly saying will talk to them to make see you’re taken care of and nothing. Lost about 5k in damages and lost items and they offered $ 40. Thanks for that. They claimed well I should’ve purchases supplemental insurance— it was never offered!!!
MORAL OF THE STORY: DO NOT BOOK WITH LD MOVING COMPANY. YOU WILL PAY FOR IT WITH DOUBLE THE ESTIMATE, MISSING BELONGINGS, DAMAGED ITEMS AND THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE BS EVER.

Everything from beginning to end was wonderful. Elmer and his crew were professional, courteous and caring.
I was moving across the country with my 2 small children. My husband had to stay and finish up his job, which meant I was going to be in my new home alone with the kids.
Elmer arrived in less than a week (they promise a later date given how far the trip is) and unloaded.
What a difference they made with me.
AND, 2 weeks after the move, LD called to see how it was.
I can’t say enough about what great service I got with them.

Too bad negative stars is not an option.
I recently moved from Los Angeles, California to Portland, Oregon and this company was nothing but a headache.
I moved up to Oregon about a month before all of my furniture so my father was the one that found, and was dealing with the moving company in California.
So to begin with, I spoke with the lady in the office to discuss all of my items that the company would be moving. I told her in detail all of the items that were going to be moved. She assured me that a weight of 2,000 pounds would be sufficient. I paid the deposit and was happy and excited that all of my things were finally going to be coming I Oregon…
Upon moving day I was outside hiking enjoy the rare sunny day in Portland when I start receiving multiple calls from family members about the movers. They had already loaded up all of my stuff in the truck but there was a catch. Apparently my things were now closer to 4,000 pounds and therefore they needed to charge an extra 1000 dollars. Oh and if we did not want to agree to this not only would they keep the deposit but they would also charge an «unloading fee». Convenient that this SPECULATION was done AFTER all the stuff was loaded. Lol also convenient that the scale they use to actually measure the weight was more than an hours drive away.
On a side note a year before I moved all the same stuff from Colorado to California so just for ****s and giggles I looked up the weight capacity for the truck I rented and it was 3,400 pounds… oh and my stuff only filled up half of that truck. The reason I had to rent a bigger truck was because I was towing a car and for liability purposes you could not tow a car using the smaller truck. So I knew this 4000 pound quote was complete bs and just a way to get more money.
Now the part in this that I am responsible for was moving to Oregon and leaving my parents to deal with this. Had I just been a little more patient and stayed in California to deal with the move myself I would have decided against using the people mainly because this is a scam. But my parents just wanted to get the moved done so they agreed to it.
So the law is that moving companies must store your things for up to 90 days, so I figured I would take advantage of that since my stuff was going into storage anyways up here. So from the beginning they told me it takes 5 – 7 days for the move to happen. Based on this when it was time for my things to come up here I called to give them the address trying to schedule it so that it would happen on a day off of work. I’m a college student who works in the service industry so unfortunately I can’t just take off work to fit the moving company’s schedule, and the way I see it, is I’m paying them (1000 dollars more I might add) shouldn’t they be working with MY schedule to get my things up here??? I guess not.
I call to give them the address on Wednesday.
I get all call Thursday late afternoon saying they would be arrive the following day (friday) at 5pm. I was like wait a second I work that day until 6pm. The lady, Nelly, says she will confirm the time and call me back to see if that works. No call back.
I get a call from the movers at 7am Friday morning saying they are already in transit and will arrive at 5pm. Thanks for calling to confirm Nelly. So I tell the guy I am working till 6 and will try to get there as soon as I can.
So unfortunately for me I had to stay late at work an hour, which I knew is common in my job and why I told NELLY to begin with that Friday would probably not work for me because I had work, so the movers had already left by the time I was able to get there. Then I get a call from the office, and the man starts arguing with me saying he was right next to nelly when she called me on Thursday and I agreed to Friday at 5… that’s was the funniest part was. I was like why would I agree to 5 when I know I work until 6??? That makes absolutely no sense?!?
So luckily the movers were heading through Portland again in the morning and were able to drop it off Saturday around 8am. Thank god my sisters husband was able to be there because I had to work again at 9. And the company so graciously waived the fees for me… the fees that I accrued only because they moved my stuff at a time they knew I would not be available lol.
Ugh. The bottom line. These people are shady. I wish I would have checked the reviews before using them. But I have my stuff and I am definitely wiser for the next time. So long and good riddance LD moving and storage. Thank god I never have to deal with you again!!! Lol
