Carl R Farless, DDS & Arthur Jordan, DDS

I just had the tooth extraction and Dr. Jordan was excellent. The tooth came out with no challenges, there was no hidden fees when I went to pay, and most importantly, after the post care was provided, I was pain free in under a day. This has been an all around excellent experience.

My husband and I have been seeing Dr. Farless for over twenty-​three years. We moved much further away and still kept him as our dentist. I can’t imagine a better familial repoire with anyone else. His staff has ALWAYS been the best group of people to handle an office. His co-​dentists/​orthos have continued to be our best and favorite choices. Anyone Dr. Farless recommends outside of his office has always come through with shining colors. 100% dedicated to Dr. Farless’ practice.

I was experiencing major pain and swelling stemming from a poor root canal that another dentist performed over a year ago.
In an emergency Carl saw me and took care of the problem. I am majorly indebted.

I’ve been here twice. Such nice people, and such great and skilled professionals! So knowledgable and professional. And I also love that if there’s something they don’t know, or if it’s outside their specialty, they’ll tell you that, rather than trying to skate over a b.s. answer. I think most of all, it’s their kindness and caring about their patients that really makes them tops. I had been to the office a few years ago and thought they were fantastic and then recently, I had an old tooth problem flare up and I just walked into the office in a bit of an emergency, needing a prescription. Even though they obviously had a busy day going on, they saw me within probably 15 min and got me taken care of. And on top of that, they didn’t even charge me because it didn’t require a lot of their time! Who does that?! Well… they do. Amazing. Can’t say enough good things about them.

My husband and I have experienced so many a frustrating and uncomfortable dental visits BUT when we found Dr. Farless’ dental office by word of mouth, it’s like Eureka! There is really light at the end of the tunnel! We just loved Dr. Farless, Dr. Jordan, Angel, Rowena, Jennifer, Michelle, Angela and Rose! Great staff, great service, great office atmosphere (does not feel like the typical cold, dental office at all!) I think we are in for the long haul!

I went and the space was clean, I was seen promptly, got x-​rays and had a beautiful experience. Found my new dentist!

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Farless for almost 20 years. I can’t imagine going to any other dentist-​he knows what he’s doing! His staff is caring and thorough, his prices are very reasonable and everyone in his office is always in a good mood. I’ve sent many friends to Dr. Farless, and they have all become loyal patients. Dr. Farless ROCKS!

Dr. Farless deserves more recognition than a «5 star» rating scale to describe how amazing he is. I’ve been his patient for at least 17 years. Prior to being under his care and the incredible care of his hygienists, my husband and I had been to countless dentists.
I can remember back when we moved from Studio City (where Dr Farless office is located near) and moved to the San Fernando Valley 12 years ago. The day I attempted to get a cleaning closer to home at unnamed office. I figured, just this once ill just go for a cleaning nearby to home… I can’t begin to say what «a can of worms» I found myself in. (But it actually didn’t surprise me) By the time I left this «anonymous named Dr» I had a list of urgent treatments I needed from crowns that needed immediate replacements because of supposed «infection», and of course two root canals were on the list.
I thought that’s peculiar… I went back to Dr Farless and discussed this other Dr’s «recommendations». Not surprisingly. Dr Farless in his usual calm and professional way assured me by examining me and my
x rays that none of the items suggested were at all necessary, none not one!
The reason I am Unilocaling Dr. Farless today is because I recently (been another 11 years since i researched finding a dentist .only to help a friend who has HMO dentistry covered)
My adoration for Dr. Farless has risen to the surface again. I cant express enough how much I appreciate .and there are absolutely no words to express how blessed my family is to have and know such a trustworthy Dentist. Dr. Farless is honest, patient, gentle, humble (and the BEST novocaine shot giver in the dental world :)
There are still dishonest dentists out there. I had to walk my friend and I, out of two dentist offices that accepted her HMO dental insurance. Both offices made excuses that they couldn’t give her a cleaning. That she needed a «deep cleaning» which of course is not covered by insurance. She too received a list of emergency root canals needed before they would even allow her a cleaning. The first office did her X-​rays and would not clean her teeth unless she agreed to pay for a deep cleaning.
Let me explain to you what an HMO deep cleaning is, its what Dr Farless would give you anyway, that’s already included in your insurance, but Dr Farless’ «deep cleaning» is called «yearly cleaning» :) and it’s done by every single one of his amazing hygienists! Jennifer, Angela, & Angel. I ust had a cleaning today by Angel, he did an excellent job! How long does your hygienist take to clean your teeth? Angel spent at least an hour scraping.
This «yearly cleaning» would make your mouth feel like it just won NASCAR and you’re Jeff Gordon (I had to use a race-​car reference in Dr Farless’ honor :)
So this long overdue compliment is here on Unilocal.the office staff gets a «I’m Dr. Farless biggest fan» earful on a yearly basis, so now here it is, in-​print! We are so grateful to have a dentist we can trust and appreciate each of the incredible staff that are each so caring. Thank you Rose for also taking such good care of us all these years.

The best dentist I have ever been to. I live 2 hours away and it’s well worth the drive. From the moment I arrived the staff was superb, dentist and hygienist are phenomenal best dental experience I’ve ever had. I highly recommend to anyone.

This guy is a miracle worker! I can’t believe I have waited this long to write this review. I was in LA this summer for a much needed vacation when I had an unfortunate dental emergency. I perused Unilocal for the best dentist in the area and made an appointment. I told them it was an emergency and they took me in right away. I don’t have insurance, but it was still pretty cheap compared to what I pay here in Chicago. Everyone in the office was really nice and I felt comfortable in a dental office for the first time in my life. Every time I visit the dentist, I consider letting my teeth fall out. I wish I could teleport this guy to the midwest. Do yourselves a favor and switch doctors, you won’t regret it.

I found Dr. Farless on Unilocal so it only makes sense I should write him a review. It’s always a pleasant experience and they are flexible with appointments which is great for freelance types like myself. The hygenists have steady hands and are very precise and gentle. They are also really fast! Always a great experience!

Great service, however the services are very costly. You will be over charge compared to other dentist in the area. I have duel coverage and still ended up paying out of pocket. I had to change dentist due to the cost.

Growing up in Ohio I had the same dentist who I loved for over 21 years. My 10 years in LA has been filed with trips to all kinds of different dentists, never quite finding the right match… I’m happy to say, in Dr. Farless and his wonderful crew, I’ve found my dentist for the next 21 years and beyond:)

Been coming here for years. great people here. I’m probably the only person in the world who doesn’t mind going to the dentist or getting cleanings.
Over the years I’ve had 7 veneers, numerous fillings, cleanings, crowns, … no complaints. And I’m sure in the years to come, I’ll be having more mouth work.

Dr. Farless and his friendly, competent staff are the best ever. Even though I moved away, I will always journey to this wonderful place for expert service.

On top of Dr Jordan and Dr. Farless’ great work, Angela is the best hygienist ever – she deserves a gold medal for her meticulousness and coaching.
Worthy of 5 stars, I just could’t give a top rating because the building and the office itself aren’t impressive. I think it kind of odd that there isn’t running water and a sink to spit into next to each chair (they make do by refilling a tank and squirting and suctioning water). Also… just don’t park in the lot adjacent to the building, it is useless. Luckily, street parking is readily available.
In spite of those drawbacks, I highly recommend Dr. Farless & staff. I’m so glad I was referred to them!

A good mechanic you trust, a good hair stylist, and a good dentist.
Well I found the good dentist, but I’m still looking for a mechanic.
Anyway, seriously, try this place.
They don’t price gouge, they are friendly and fun.
They’re flexible and work with you.
If you need a root canal, the specialist comes in on Saturdays, Dr. G will hook you up.
Dr. Carl really especially likes (stolen from a 4square checkin) if you eat Oreo cookies directly before your appointment and don’t clean your mouth.
Go here, stop looking for dentists, these guys are my spot until I move away.

Dr. Farless and his staff are by far the best in the business! I’ve been utilizing their services for quite a few years now and have never had a bad experience. Everyone is super nice and very professional. I want to also mention Angel who is one of the dental hygienist on staff. After having my teeth cleaned by him, I would have to think twice before letting anyone else clean my teeth. He’s thorough and gets the job done without killing your gums. Rose who is a dental assistant is AMAZING. She’s welcoming and super nice as well.
My only problem is they are out-​of-​network for Metlife/​Metropolitan, so the out-​of-​pocket expenses are starting to bruise my pocket. That being said I may have to seek services elsewhere with the exception of cleaning. LOL

Dr. Falress and his staff are personable and friendly people and are a pleasure to be around. However, this is clearly a lifestyle practice, and their schedules, vacations, and time off are more imporant than their patient care. (That may, of course, explain why they are in such a good mood whenever you go in… obviously, they live the stress free lives that the rest of us wish we had!) Unfortunately, their lack of availability and patient care doesn’t work for me.
I had two back to back incidents which have convinced me its time to go elsewhere. First, Dr. Farless placed a crown for me. The crown came off, so naturally I called his office to have it fixed. However, he was on vacation. He had arranged for another dentist to cover any emergencies during his absense, but she too was on vacation. This left me scrambling, and $ 600 dollars later I had managed to locate a dentist on an emergency basis and have the crown fixed with no help from Dr. Farless and his staff.
I intended to talk to Dr. Farless about the situation during my next scheduled visit. However, two separate accidents on the 5 Freeway left me running 15 minutes late. I called the office to let them know about the traffic jam. But, when I arrived, they told me that they have a standing policy that nobody works more than 10 minutes late, and the staff was already leaving for the evening.
Well, I really do applaud their decision to make their quality of life a priority. However, the lack of backup coverage during their vacations is inexcusable. And the 10 minute grace period, especially when I called to let them know of the traffic situation, I find to be too inflexible. So… I’m off to locate another dentist.
If you want to be seen by some very nice people, they are a good choice. But if you want crowns that stay in place, availability, and adequate emergency coverage, then you should go elsewhere.

I’m going to go ahead and classify Dr. Farless & co. with a 5 star, «as good as it gets!» rating.
Because as far as I can tell, Farless and his staff are as good as it gets in the dentistry field here in LA.
It’s kind of a bummer that just being honest is enough to earn that ranking (so far, based on my experience, that’s all it takes).
HOWEVER. Dr. Farless and his staff are more than just honest. They’re friendly, professional, and appear to have genuine concern for the welfare of their patients. Crazy, right?
When I entered the office for the first time, I seriously had my guard up. Though my suspicions had not yet been confirmed, I had a nagging feeling that my previous dentist was lying to me, creating problems with my teeth that didn’t exist. My previous dentist (
) told me I had multiple cavities and gingivitis so bad it required a $ 1,000 full-​mouth deep cleaning.
I didn’t disclose any of this to Dr. Farless or the hygienist. I just waited to see what they said. Yep, my teeth weren’t pretty (I hadn’t had a regular cleaning in a couple years… the dentists I’d been going to never seemed to get around to it), but they hygienist told me she’d give me two good cleanings and if I kept up with my home care, things would probably progress. I sat for one cleaning, came in for the next and what do you know — my teeth were better already.
I told her my previous doctor had recommended a deep cleaning and she said I was nowhere near that stage. The slight gaps between my teeth and gum were easily reversible with diligent home care and regular dental visits. Strike $ 1,000 of out of pocket fees off my expense list.
I’d brought my xrays from my previous dentist, and the hygienist asked if they’d found any problems with my teeth. I didn’t want to confess anything (my guard was still up) but I relented and shared the multiple cavities and almost-​but-​not-​quite-​a-​root-​canal diagnosis I’d been handed by my previous dentist. She passed the xrays along to Dr. Farless and I waited for him to enter with my results.
Seriously, I have so little trust for LA dentists that I half expected him to just confirm my previous results. You know. Easy money, right? Well, he looked at my xrays, checked out my teeth, and told me I was good to go.
Good to go?
Like…not even ONE cavity? Not even a little one?
Nope.
My teeth were great. And so was I.
So. Payment.
I buy my own insurance so my dental ins. is one of the crummiest PPOs you can get. But it IS a PPO. I paid up front for each visit and received a nominal reimbursement from my insurance company.
Honestly, I don’t care. The moola I spent was minuscule compared to the thousands they had me paying at Royal Dental Spa. I was happy to walk away just a couple hundred bucks poorer — AND — with clean teeth!!! for the first time in two years.
So what is the lesson you should be taking away from this story?
If you’re looking for a dentist, try Dr. Farless.
There have been times in my life when I’ve been wrong but this is not one of those times.
Go. Now.
Get your grill fixed.
