I never feel the need to review places, but A&J is the first auto shop that I’ve felt 100% good about. Tony is very knowledgeable, friendly, and always happy to chat. He’s always given fair prices and good advice, and yet never pushed to get things repaired.
Case in point, my engine mount needs replacing – an expensive job no matter where you go. Another shop that will remain unnamed in this review repaired it once already with crappy third-​party parts, and it recently broke again. Tony gave me a quote (using original parts, no less) that was about a two-​thirds the price of what I paid at the other shop. And though he made it clear that this will need replacing soon, he didn’t push – he understood that it was expensive, and promised to do some extra research to find the best parts in terms of cost/​durability.
Bottom-​line, he’s a good man and runs a great business, and I’d give him more than five stars if Unilocal would let me. If you’re in the neighborhood, you won’t find a better auto shop.
One small quibble: the place is situated somewhat awkwardly off of a curved road, so be careful when you pull in and out.

This place will scam you! We bought an engine from this place and they assured us it was the right one and gave us a 3 month warranty. It was not the right one and when we tried to return it they wouldn’t take it. They wanted us to bring them the engine in the car that didn’t work. They will not refund us any money. Do not come here, I have already filed complaints to the better business bureau.

Called ahead before arriving to make sure I was able to be seen for an oil change. tony, the owner squeezed me in and was very polite. Price for oil change is reasonable and they did not try to sell me more on maintenance, but made future recommendations. Place was clean and had a comfortable waiting area with 1 hour complimentary wifi.

And this goes without saying, but if anything ever goes wrong with my car, this is definitely my first stop.
If u live in the area, u have no excuse for not giving these guys a shot. If u live far, it’s worth the drive… try them out and u’ll understand =)

I was in the process of buying a (very) used car and was looking for a mechanic to do a pre-​purchase inspection. That’s when I found A & J. Their prices are more affordable than most and their service is impeccable. Adam and Tony supported me through this draining process and now that I finally bought my little Toyota, this is the only place I’ll ever take it! These guys are honest, helpful, and really tell it like it is. I’ve felt extremely welcome and taken care of by them. I couldn’t recommend them more.

Breath of fresh air! Admittedly, I’m not the most car savvy but I always do my research. I needed a new blower motor. I took my car to a Toyota dealership where I was quoted an outrageous price and a over a week’s wait to get the part. I knew I had to go elsewhere. I called A&J two days ahead of time, explained what I suspected was the issue and was immediately promised that when I came in it should be an easy fix.
As soon as I pulled up, they remembered me from my phone call. I waited around while they had the part delivered (which I was warned about) and then it took 10 minutes to fix. Ultimately, it cost me 4 times less than what the Toyota dealership quoted me. Staff was friendly, honest, and super-​helpful!
While they aren’t in my immediate neighborhood, I know I will return when I need my car serviced.

I used to drive to Simi Valley to get trusted repairs, but ever since I gave A & J a try, they have always delivered.
I think it all started with a smog check coupon, but I’ve had all manner of repairs and maintenance done since then.
Tony and Adam are nice and easy to talk to. The work has always been done in a timely manner, and the prices seem reasonable enough that I don’t question it. Getting the job done right, the first time, is most important.
Highest recommendation. Don’t hesitate!

I have a Honda 2015, since last year A&J take care of my car, I love this place, everybody very nice, Adam, Tony they are very friendly. They always tell me what needs to be done, not like other place try to make extra money of you by tells you to fix it even though you don’t need to fix it right away. They always have fresh coffee. 2 thumbs up you guys. I really recommend this place.

It was well worth the drive to find such capable, friendly, honest, professional mechanics to troubleshoot and repair our older car. Grateful too that this highly rated shop was able to receive us the day we called. Oddly enough, upon diagnosis, it was when they said ‘no guarantees’ that our trust was earned. They nailed it! As a bonus, they guided us through the Unilocal ‘check-​in’ which saved us 10% ‘first visit.’ The best compliment we can give these guys is we will be bringing them our newer leased cars. because even though the point of leasing is all about avoiding time consuming repairs, new car service departments sometimes fall short on scheduled maintenance. Sound familiar? Avoid the frustration and bring your car (s) new and old to A & J Auto Service. These guys know what they’re doing, won’t take advantage and are really cool! We’ll be back.

I needed a Smog fast for my car as I love to procrastinate. I Unilocaled some locations as I was pressed for time. I found A & J on Unilocal,gave them a call. Tony the owner answered and was friendly enough to answer my questions/​concerns. I arrived at the shop and was quickly greeted by Adam. Fantastic customer service and they made swift work of my smog. I enjoyed shooting the ish w/​Adam as it passed the time real fast. Thanks again as I would entertain the idea to get my service/​work done here now. Car passed with flying colors and I got home to pay my registration via DMV.

Have gone here a few times now and have been very impressed. This latest time my car had broken down completely with a blown radiator and they had it fixed in a few hours. Tony is friendly and knowledgeable, someone who takes the time to explain everything to you and really seems to care about getting you the best care for your car at the best price. He does great work, and is very upfront about everything he’s doing. And, he’s a smog check/​emissions specialist, which makes him a convenient one stop shop for that as well. But it’s his willingness to talk everything over and answer all your questions in a patient and friendly manner that really puts him over the top. Would definitely recommend him for anyone looking for a skilled and trustworthy mechanic.

I was very happy with their service.
The have great phone etiquette, which is a huge plus.
I took my bf’s car for a smog test and they took care of it right away. I was in and out within 20 minutes, and got a 10% Unilocal check-​in discount.
Their prices are very reasonable and Adam, the guy that helped me, was friendly and quick at getting the paperwork done.
I recommend this smog check place to anybody.

Unilocal did it again! I found this place through Unilocal looking for a smog check. There were other places cheaper but decided that there 5 star location was a good incentive to try. Adam and Tony where the ones who helped us.
This is what I liked: they were very knowledgeable, they were extremely nice, they had a check in deal as an incentive too, and most importantly they took there time to help us and to explain everything.
This is the type of mechanics that I feel good recommending to everybody.

Here for my regular oil change. I love this place. They are reasonable, great customer service and best of all, they know cars! They keep all information about your car in the computer which is super convenient. They have literally become my neighborhood mechanic. They are very thorough and they talk to you about your car, give you specifics. Like today, they showed me the fluids in my car, what they should look like and what they actually look like — proof behind the requested services. They aren’t trying to just get your money, they give your car the service it needs. If you need a reliable, trustworthy mechanic to work on your vehicle, definitely come here.
