Owned and operated by local North Haven resident Jerry Charm, Acme Lock and Safe believes in providing excellent customer service along with fair and competitive pricing. Jerry is the second generation of Charm’s, taking over from his dad Sam Charm after his retirement, after years of father and son working side by side.

In addition to being highly entertained I got my lock fixed. Jerry was all about doing the job right. He wasn’t about running up the charge or doing a slap-​dash job. He fixed the problem while also doing the best Robert Deniro impression I’ve ever seen.

Jerry quite literally saved the day! When no other shop was open in town, Jerry’s shop was open and he cut two spare keys for me in no time flat! He was really friendly and approachable with a great sense of humor. I would recommend him to anyone!

Acme really saved us. We needed an emergency lock change after a break-​in and he managed to work us in right away even though it was a Sunday. He also was very fair about the price — even though we were in a tight spot and he probably could have taken advantage of us. He even suggested ways we could save money. Really terrific! I was about to leave the house and the key got stuck in the door. Called Acme and he came right over. Now I know to keep the lock happy give it WD 40 twice a year. He fixed the lock within my time frame. A life saver! I’m still on time.

After the first locksmith found on Unilocal said he doesn’t do house calls, I called Acme. Jerry said he could be here within a half hour and he was. Unfortunately he couldn’t get my broken key out of the lock and had to drill it out.
He rekeyed our other lock to match the new key and enlarged the mortise for the deadbolt (which caused my problem in the first place) at no extra cost. He really cared about doing the job right.
Very friendly and chatty during the process. I wish I didn’t need a locksmith, but am happy with the service here!

Jerry was very polite, knowledgeable and thorough, and explained clearly all of the actions he took in repairing my door locks. He charged a fair price and showed up on time (even waited for me because I was late). He explained various options for me to upgrade my lock system, but did not try and sell me on anything. It was more of a «if you are looking for X, you should do this, if you’re looking for Y you should do that, and don’t spend all your money on such-​and-​such system unless need Z». He was also very knowledgeable about the state of my overall door (not just the lock). I trust him and would definitely use him again. I have had three locksmiths on the shoreline both for home and business, and he was the best.

Jerry really got me out of bind! I was in a rush getting getting my things together to hit the road and just put my dog in the car, then shut the door with my keys in it! Jerry came by within 30 mins from our call and then was able to get the car open with out damaging the car and with out getting frustrated by the German engineering. Thanks Jerry!
