White Mountain Hotel & Resort

The hotel is a little dated but i felt they do a great job keeping things neat and clean. The staff were all very nice and accommodating. The views are spectacular. The buffet was very good, the best pancakes ever!
The cons: our room overlooked the mountains (room 318) but it also is above the maintenance shed. At night the kitchen takes out the trash etc and they are not quiet about it. The room was VERY hot and stuffy even though we had the windows wide open, we shut the shades to keep the light out in the morning but it made it worse. We turned on the air conditioner but it made a ton of noise and pumped nothing but warm air no matter what we did. It might be time to replace those dinosaur heater/​ac units. The walls are very thin. We heard everything everywhere from every floor.
All in all this was a nice hotel with very nice staff

what a fantastic find! The staff from front desk to bartender waitress and housekeeping are just fantastic! Its a place where you feel like you want to spend your money because everyone makes you feel great! We came here in the middle of the week and it was super quiet but everyone still was at their A game. Place was very clean and had that wonderful New England aura. The place was built in 1990 but feels more like the ’50’s era of a slower pace. Views are amazing in the dining room. We stayed in the Mt Washington suite… octagon in shape with five windows looking out to the mountains we spent one day entirely in the room… was a great room full of sunshine! Highly recommend this place… peaceful and relaxing great quality!

This is one of my favorite places in the mountains to stay. It’s particularly beautiful in the winter. Very clean rooms, friendly staff, awesome food and an outdoor hot tub and pool open year round, which are also very clean! I stay in the mountains a lot and this place is always on the top oft list when I’m looking for a hotel. Very relaxed atmosphere surrounded by the mountains, don’t pass this place up!

New Year’s Day brunch is a family tradition. The dining room has a gorgeous view of the surrounding mountains, so the view alone makes the brunch worth it. Definitely make a reservation ahead of time if you are a larger group, or if the skiing is good.
In addition to the buffet you can also order Eggs Benedict, pancakes, bagels, and waffles. Brunch doesn’t include bloodys or mimosas either, so you’ll have to pay an extra $ 6 for those.
The breakfast offering this year was very large. It included a waffle station, omelette station, grand marnier French toast (!!!), caramel cheese blintzes, bacon, sausage, carving station with prime rib and turkey, Greek frittata, Beef Wellington, multiple salads, fruit, antipasto, smoked salmon, seafood casserole, southern stuffed chicken, mashed potatoes, white asparagus, and a plethora of desserts.
Come hungry!

What can I say about this place. If it wasn’t for a few mishaps, I would have given this place 5 stars but a few things really stopped me from doing so.
First off I have to say that everyone who works there was an absolute pleasure to be around. Everyone was super nice and friendly from the servers in the restaurant to the attendant at the front counter at check in. I have absolutely no complaints about the service. Five stars all around.
Another thing I loved about the place was their breakfast. Normally, I’m not a breakfast person but damn their omelets are amazing. Their dinner was another story. My entrée was overly salty and couldn’t really enjoy it. Also it’s a little pricey but the panoramic views in the dining room are to die for. That’s one of the best things about the hotel.
The reason why I’m giving it four stars instead of five is because of two things that did not sit well with me. First off, when we got into the room I notice this large bug near the window. Ok whatever, a bug is a bug, just as long as it’s not a spider or bed-​bugs then I’m ok with it. But the thing was… after further inspection, I found 6 of the same large beetle like bugs in the room and they can fly. Very very annoying.
Secondly the room we had was on the far right hand side of the building overlooking the gazebo (which when lit up at night is beautiful). Right outside of the building is where the sewage trucks come and empty the building. I left the place for the day and decided to leave the windows open for that cool mountain air to engulf my room. When I came back, the room smelled like absolute filth and it lingered for 5 hours which was extremely unpleasant. I know this was probably one of those things where no one else will experience it but I did and it was not pleasant.
If it wasn’t for those few points, I would definitely give this place 5 stars. I can see myself coming here again. but definitely not in the same room.

Beautiful view and super delicious. We made reservations for Sunday brunch and when we got there they were unexpectedly full. Although we had to eat at the bar, the hostess was exceptionally accommodating and offered us free drinks. Since we didn’t want drinks that morning, she gave us one free meal for the inconvenience. She then offered suggestions on where to hike that afternoon and the bartender drew us a map on a cocktail napkin of how to get to a popular hiking spot, Black Cap Mountain. The chefs were friendly and their service was flawless.

Found this place from a word-​of-​mouth recommendation from a friend, and boy we were really thrilled to find it. Great cocktails great beer a great wine list. The menu has a great variety.
I would recommend the award-​winning seafood chowder, it definitely lived up to its name. We also really enjoyed the red curry coconut mussels. The entrées were well portioned and I think offered for a reasonable price of $ 25-​$ 30 per dinner when other restaurants would be $ 40-​$ 45.
The hotel is beautiful and nicely decorated and very clean. The views are outstanding and I recommend getting there right before sunset so you have a great view and then watch the sun set, very romanic. It is actually nicer in person than the website lets on to believe.
The staff was very friendly and personable and I think overall we had a wonderful experience.

So, this is an interesting place… I wavered between 2 and 3 stars, but given that 3 stars has an «A-​OK» description, I went with two. «Meh — I’ve experienced better» sums up my stay at this location quite succinctly. In sum… it’s a nice enough hotel, but failed to meet (or exceed) my expectations from a service perspective given the price I paid.
My wife and I arrived late Saturday afternoon, and were booked into the «White Horse» suite for our «babymoon» — a last hurrah as a childless couple prior to our daughter’s arrival in May. We were treated to the chocolate covered strawberries, cheese/​fruit plate and champagne that I’d requested upon arrival, and all arrived with a smile and were well done. Then the minor annoyances began…
First, the room itself. It was quite spacious — at around 300 dollars a night, I’d expect it to be. However, the red carpet, while clean, seemed quite dated. Some of the artwork in the room seemed a bit out of place — wooden furnishings all over the room, and the picture above the bed was framed in a brass-​like framing in which the matting surrounding the photo was far too large. The tub was large and spacious, but the Jacuzzi feature had the decibel level of a mack truck, and was thus turned off shortly after the tub was filled to avoid disturbing other guests. Speaking of disturbing other guests — we had a pleasant group of folks in the rooms adjoining our suites… they and their children made an incredible amount of noise both in the hallway and in their rooms. Either they were quite loud, or the walls were quite thin… more than likely it was both. With that said, I’m not going to blame the hotel for having rowdy guests… there’s not a whole lot they can do about that. There is, however, something you can do about the level of service you provide.
We ordered room service that first night — simple fare — sandwiches, wings, and dessert. We each requested a side of mayonnaise for the sandwich we ordered. Seemed pretty simple. When the food arrived (delivery was timely and pleasant), we discovered that the mustard that came with the sandwich had been placed on the side… but no mayo as requested. Everything else was fine, so we shrugged and didn’t worry too much about it. With that said — this minor service issue was to become a theme throughout our stay…
We went to sleep early that evening after the long drive. The bed was large and comfortable, but this hotel (like others I’ve stayed in over the last couple of years) has the annoying practice of placing very small twin sized pillows on a king sized bed. Again, not a deal breaker, but when staying at this level of hotel, I expected better. There was also the matter of the folks in the next room who were apparently okay with their children running around the room screaming at the top of their lungs until about midnight. Amazing how thin the walls were — I figured for $ 300/​night, they could add a few inches of plaster or some soundproofing…
We attended brunch twice while we stayed. The food and service in the dining room were very good. With that being said — when I booked, I was told that reservations were required for brunch, That didn’t actually appear to be the case as several people walked up to the hostess table while we were there and didn’t appear to have reservations since they never gave a name, and simply told the hostess how many were in their party. Once again — did I care about having to make reservations? No. But don’t tell me it’s necessary if it isn’t…
But without a doubt… the kicker of the whole trip happened on the second afternoon we were there. As my wife and I were relaxing in our room, we heard raised voices in the hallway. Figuring it was our next door neighbors again, I peeked out through the peephole in the door… and saw two staff members there, cursing and airing some very particular gripes (in some very particular language) about other members of staff. This went on for a good 10 minutes or so, about 10 feet from our door. I went to the front desk and spoke to a member of staff about it — and she was kind enough to apologize and later put a written apology note under our door with a voucher for a free dessert from room service. While I appreciated the gesture, the fact that I even had to say something about this in a «luxury» environment was disappointing at best.
All in all — the service and amenities are not worth the price we paid. I won’t be returning.

I have stayed at the White Mountain Hotel several times over the years — every experience is a good one — the hotel itself is a little older maybe not as modern as some would like but I think that adds to its charm — it is a very restful place to stay, not a lot of hustle and bustle. My favor spot is the Tullamore Tavern — all the bartenders are very friendly and make the best cocktails. The food is amazing — everything I’ve ever had has been good. The breakfast is wonderful and I love the view from the dining room. This is a great spot to just relax or as a base for all the activities that the area has to offer. Go, you won’t be disappointed.

My nonprofit how did an event here recently. I can’t begin to tell you how wonderful the hotel was to work with and what an amazing job they did for us. They tended to every detail, and really cared about our event being a success. The views surrounding the hotel are absolutely spectacular. If you are looking to hold an event, I would highly recommend the White Mountain Hotel. We’ve already booked our event for next year to be held here. Can’t say enough good things about this facility. We’ve been at other hotels and nothing compared to this.

Idyllic spot for a hotel, with gorgeous scenery. We were there in «mud season», so North Conway wasn’t exactly crowded anyway, but I imagine during peak ski and leaf peeper seasons it would be nice to get away from town and just enjoy the peace and tranquility offered at the White Mountain Hotel after a busy day of adventure skiing, hiking or shopping in the big outlet center.
The décor may be a little antiquated for some, and classic for others. Our room looks like it was last done in the late 80s/​early 90s. Lot of brass light fixtures and marble tiles in the shower weren’t in best of shape, but it was very clean. One part of our carpeting felt like the underpad was breaking down, as there was a saggy depression. But overall it was a comfortable room.
We were on the third (top) floor, with a stunning distant mountain view, including Cranmore ski resort. Couldn’t get a good picture due to clouds and window screen, but we were treated to a nice sunrise over the mountains on our last morning.
I liked being able to open the windows for some fresh air. Not a feature in most modern hotels. Even with the heat off, the room tended to be warm and stuffy at night, so opening the windows was great.
Staff were very friendly. Chatted with housekeeping staff both mornings. And front desk staff were very welcoming when we arrived. Leah checked us in. Our room rate included complimentary full breakfast both days, but we opted to upgrade to the Sunday brunch (at Ledges Restaurant) on our second morning. Discounted from $ 19 each to $ 10 each. She made particular note that the complimentary breakfast didn’t include gratuity, but the brunch did, and asked that we make sure we take care of our server. One gets the impression that people aren’t tipping. No excuse for that unless there’s a problem with service or people are stingy.
During the weekend of our stay a local music school was having a fundraiser with 24 hours of music by the faculty and students in the ballroom (including a music composition competition) and a silent auction. Some of the very talented students put on a jazz performance during brunch on Sunday. Nice to see the hotel supports arts in the community.

I’d give this hotel 2.5 stars maybe 3 just because of the location. I didn’t speak up at first when I saw that our room was two doors down from the vending machines and main lobby. It is LOUD and when I asked to be moved to another room the next day, I was offered a room on a higher floor but at a higher cost… Ah no thanks.
Kids were running in upper floors at night which was so loud and someone was vacuuming at 830 at night when my son was trying to sleep. Big bummer for what I paid. Lobby and rooms are dated but do show better at night. TV is small. Gym and ‘family game room’ lame. Maybe the upper and deluxe rooms are better. Tavern in the lobby is nice for a drink, breakfast is pretty good but Peaches in town is far better. Going to look elsewhere next year

To start with, a bit difficult to find– at least my GPS thought so– helpful hotel staff guided me in, as well as several others in my party. We happened to be here when there was a TON of snow, l so some of the regular signage was covered.

We are frequent guests of this hotel. This resort is tucked back in an amazing location in North Conway, NH. The restaurant there is delicious and friendly staff who make you feel at home and remember your face. Rooms have always been clean. The only flaws are that there is no shuttle bus to the mountain and it is very hard to find in the dark.

Great Location… but I think that’s the only good thing that saved me from giving it 2 stars. Hotel Check-​in staff always looked in a rush and had me felt that she was much bothered assisting us checking in.
We were given room next to entrance and next to vending machine corridor on first floor to our much dislike. Although mountain and fall color views from the windows very very good, they were diminished by constant vending machine power noises throughout the night through their paper thin walls. Footsteps from floor above, machine notices from side walls and AC/​Heater notice from other side wall made sure that we don’t sleep well in the night and wake up tired.
On other hand, I found restaurant staff quite friendly and well versed contrary to some of the reviews and their own hotel staff. Mountain and valley view from the restaurant was very nice.
I had great expectation from this resort being the resort in mountain bed at great North Conway area and also being part of Hales golf club communities.

First let’s start with the experience. We checked into our room and I thought it smelled heavily of carpet cleaner… Fast forward to later we come back and now the cleaner smell is wearing off and it smells like dog and pet feces and using urine. After talking to the front desk the move us to a smaller room which is odor free but only available for 1 night (we were booked for 5)

Moving on, the room we were moved to was supposed to be a queen, it wasn’t it was a full. The while hotel décor is horrible outdated and seriously detracts from the atmosphere. The «gym» doesn’t open until 7, has the treadmills but no elliptical.
Last awesome piece of information, the elevator certificate is expired, 2 months ago!

I would come here again. Place is old but kept up. I am more of a modern type of person contemporary style which this place and most places in the area are not.
Overall friendly nice good fast internet which I value and also easy to connect no stupid bs password or hotel splash page nice and simple.
The tv was a bit small but what I did like was no stupid lognet or hotel page each time you turn on the tv
The pool was heated and seemed like it would be nice but we didn’t bring out bathing suits. Anyway
Very good nice and clean hotel well maintained for an old what I would call colonial style.

The BF and I came here for our one year anniversary, very much at my whiny insistence on going «some place» nice.
We stayed one night. My initial impression is that this really is more of a three star hotel, the furnishings are a bit outdated, the staff was friendly enough, and the room wasn’t particularly special. There’s something about the service at a high end hotel, people open your doors, you’re asked if you need help with luggage, the amenities are pointed out. In general, people make you feel like the boss. This place didn’t have quite that panache.
However, the location is really beautiful. Add in the outdoor heated pool, the hot tub (although small), and the lovely fire pit, I was smitten. It was kinda like a date that grew on you.
But in the morning, when we went to have brunch I started to realize that the service really is sub par.
We went down for their Sunday brunch and was seated promptly. The server came by and started to fill our waters, but I asked for table near the window. There were three empty tables by the window. The server shrugged and waved us towards one of the three tables. We walked over and stood there a little bit confused as for which table she wanted us to sit down. I hate being confused at a restaurant. The server at this point had vanished.
So we picked a table and sat down. And sat. At this point, we were still confused, should we get up and go the buffet, will someone be bringing coffee? We sat some more. Finally, the hostess came over to fill our water and proceeded to ask, «didn’t I seat you somewhere else?» I responded, «yes,» and told her we had been moved when we asked for another table. «This table is reserved,» she admonished, giving us a glare and a shake of her head.
Although she didn’t expect us to move, I felt suddenly like a child who was being scolded at. And seriously, what with the price we paid for the room, dinner and brunch, the last thing you want is to feel like you are in school being yelled at for doing nothing wrong!
and oh, the food was ok.

Great North Conway hotel! The décor in the lobby is pretty outdated but that is pretty par for the course for the area. The beds were comfortable and the room and bathroom were very clean. I do wish they had a bit of a bigger pool/​hot tub. People were always in the hot tub and you had to almost wait for a bit of a clearing to snag yourself a spot. Heated pool is definitely appreciated since North Conway can be cool even in the summer. I will also agree with other reveiwers, that this place is nice and quiet and not filled to the brim with screaming children.
The have a complimentary continental breakfast but, with so many good breakfast places in the area continental did not exactly strike my fancy. But, if you are in a big rush to get places this could be a great option for you. The wifi was not good at all so that was not great.
The area that the hotel is on is beautiful. They have flowers everywhere which I always find is a nice friendly touch and the view of the mountains is great!
I found the hotel on Sniqueaway and got a great price! If you are thinking about this hotel be sure to keep your eyes open for deals.
