I’m neither a boater nor a fisher, so I can’t comment on either of the main aspects of this site. But I did see people both boating and fishing while I enjoyed use of the covered picnic tables during a recent lunch break. It is a relatively quiet location, alongside the Ashley River, where it is crossed by the Mark Clark section of I-​526.
It is in the vicinity of the Charleston County Detention Center, as well as several nice business parks, and a number of boat-​related businesses. Despite the proximity to the local pokey, the location seemed clean and safe.
BE ADVISED: There are intentionally no garbage or recycling bins on site. There is a strict «pack your trash» policy in place. I think the idea is that it would be too easy for things to get out of hand, and then any trash overflow would immediately end up in the river, which is no bueno.
