I will not be coming back here. The service was mediocre at best.
I arrived at the hotel at 4:15 pm (an hour and 15 after check-​in). The lady at the front desk got on the walky talky and asked about my room. She immediately started checking in another family. So after about 5 minutes, they were checked in. I stepped up to the desk to ask about my room, and she responded «…We’re checking on it…», but in a tone that says «didn’t you hear me check 5 minutes ago?» so I wait another 10 minutes and she walks over to hand me my room key. So waiting 15mins (a total of an hour and a half after check in time), without the courdesy to say, «I’m very sorry for the wait, we were pretty swamped»… It was just inconsiderate.
That night around 11, I wanted to set out my clothes and everything I needed for the next day and I noticed I was missing an iron. I called the front desk to let them know and her first question was, «Did you check next to the ironing board?»… Seriously? Then the question was,” Did you check behind the door?”… Well it’s a suite, so there are about 5 doors, which one?! After she realized there wasn’t one in the room she told me, «ok, you can come down and pick it up.»… Really? You’re giving me permission to get dressed at 11, and walk back down to the front desk to pick up something that should have been in my room when I checked in… How sweet of you!
There was a dance competition in town as well, so there are about 17 billion teenage girls and their parents here as well. So every night, all you’d hear is screaming and laughing coming from the lobby. I listened to it for 3 hours last night, until I called down at 11 and had to remind the staff at the desk that it was 11pm on a weeknight and some of us had to work in the morning. The fact that I had to call is just sad. The staff should’ve gone to the groups and asked them to keep it down, as it was getting late.
The only saving grace, was that the bed was fairly comfortable. Honestly, I’m pretty surprised this was even affiliated with Hilton.

While on a business travel trip I stayed here. While the front desk was friendly and responsive and the maintenance folks helpful and responsive the housekeeping was not so. Several days came back from work late 5:30 — 6:30 PM, room not done garbage not dumped. The first time I talked to the housekeeper– mentioned they were short staff and had 22 rooms to take care of… I understand being short staffed but my room is not that difficult to clean. As a Gold Hilton Honors member I have stayed all over the country at Hilton properties and this is just not acceptable. Very disappointed! After long days at work you just want to have a nice clean room to come back to.

I stayed here for work a little over a month; during that time I had to stay at a couple of hotels in the area and the Home 2 was definitely my favorite place to stay. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and after being there for 3 weeks, I ended up making friends with the employees.
The shuttle service was very generous, and the rooms have a 70’s art-​deco feel with all modern appliances. The hotel gym was adequate, and in better condition than the other two hotel gyms when I had to leave the Home 2.
All in all, I definitely recommend the Home 2!

Environment: Not too grand but not tight. Pretty much comfy to say the least.
Food: Complimentary breakfast options are pretty good.
Prices: Affordable
Conclusion: I am a fan of this location. The average hotel in Charleston IMO overprice and probably… overrated. This is a great alternative option for 7 miles up the road at good rate. Conveniently in between I-​26 & I-​526 as accessible off those two interstates. Near the North Charleston Coliseum. Near the Tanger outlets. Plenty of dining options. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Free private parking. Safe. Great for one night and even two!

This place needs a new management team. Items are in disrepair and service is lacking. I have stayed all around the world and never had to ask the front desk for toilet paper. Yes, I understand the housekeeping staff may have missed it but they missed it again the second day. That’s poor. I went down the hall and told the housekeeper I’m taking it from the cart.
No excuses here. This places need some help.

I stayed here for one night and it was awesome!
The front desk staff was very accommodating. Breakfast was bomb, and most of the people i met while staying there were super nice.

Can you say SOFT SHEETS? My gosh this place had the softest sheets I have ever encountered, even better then when staying in places like Trump Towers in Vegas. I came with my friends for a weekend trip to Charleston and was surprised at how high end and nice our room was. Clean, modern and comfortable, it was a pleasant surprise. The only thing that made the stay uncomfortable was that it was a smokers room (never knew that still existed!) and that the complimentary breakfast was really strict on timing. The staff downstairs seemed to clean up right on the dot at 9am, even though there were people still coming for breakfast. I mean really, who wakes up at 9am to eat breakfast on a weekend trip?

Hmmm… yeah, stayed here last night. I’m a Hilton Diamond Member, so, I’ve seen my share of hotels. This one didn’t do it for me. When I arrived, the guy at the front desk looked at me and asked me who I was there to see. I told him I wasn’t there to «see» anyone. Then he asked me what I was there to fix (I guess he thought I was some sort of repairman or something). He got a puzzled look on his face and I told him I was checking in. He pulled up my reservation, and when he saw my diamond status he seemed a bit flustered. No apology though. The rooms are ok. I prefer the Hilton Garden Inn or even the Hampton Inn. I will never stay at this property again, and probably won’t stay at another Home2 Suites ever unless it’s absolutely the ONLY hotel available (including other than Hilton properties).
Update 02 March 2013: Today I received an email from Calvin Patten (Senior Guest Assistance Agent for Hilton Hotels) and Matthew Barlett (GM Home2 Suites North Charleston). They addressed my concerns and were very kind in refunding my nights stay plus adding points to my Hilton account. I really appreciate the quick response. Other companies could learn a lesson in customer service from Hilton. I am a fan once again! Thank you!

We couldn’t have asked for a better stay! The room was more than comfortable and VERY clean. The staff was attentive and friendly! You don’t pay extra for additional guest over 2, and thanks to them loaning us an Induction burner free of charge, we were able to cook dinners in our room. The free continental breakfast in the morning was very well stocked and definitely a blessing. They really helped us save money on meals. Eating out for 4 would have been a lot more money. I would recommend notifying quests that a «full kitchen» doesn’t include an oven/​stove. However, we would definitely stay here again! Thank you so much Home2 Suites! You guys ROCK!

The hotel looks like IKEA threw up inside. If you like that look, then go for it. Does not work well for long stays, since there are very few drawers in the room. In fact the wardrobe closet does not even have a door, just a curtain. The maid service only visits to empty the trash, you have to ask for towel service or cleaning. The rooms are clean, being new however wash all the dishes before you use them. I found residue and pill canisters in one of the bowels. Evidently someone was crushing their pills in the bowl. So that shows to me that the maids do not clean the dishes upon checkout. Trying to print using their wireless was impossible, even after trying to work with the front desk I gave up. The good news is that laundry was only .50 for the washing machine and .50 for the dryer. Stayed a week, is was ok but did not feel warm and comfortable at all. Not a HOME for me. Far too sterile for me, felt like living in a hospital waiting room, with pills and all.

No sir, I didn’t like it. I’m a Gold Level HH member, and my request for a high floor room away from the elevator has always been honored before, but when we arrived I was given a GROUND FLOOR ROOM only two doors down from the reception desk… HORRIBLE! And they wouldn’t let me switch… what a crock. I hate being on the ground floor, because you invariably get the cast of «Stomp» in the room above, which of course happened.
When we got in the room, the folks next door were practicing their jam session; singing, drums, and guitar. Good grief! Oh, and the wall are PAPER THIN… we could hear every word being said.
Went to dinner, came back, and apparently the band left, but was replaced by a Spanish-​speaking lady who had a dog (I am NEVER, EVER staying at a hotel that’s «pet friendly» ever again!!). How do I know? She was on her SPEAKER PHONE for hours, speaking Spanish with whomever, who also had a crying baby on the other end of the line. Then Fido would bark for five minutes in a row… good god, I hardly got any sleep.
I am NEVER staying at this hotel again, and will NEVER recommend it. I don’t appreciate being treated like I was, especially being a loyal Hilton customer. They can forget it now… whenever I return to Charleston, we are staying at the lovely, quiet, new, NO PETS, Hyatt Place just down the street.

Extremely clean! Friendly staff and spacious room makes for fantastic stay. We travel ALOT. My husband has Diamond status with Hilton and similar status at Marriott. We KNOW hotels. Great price, super convenient to everything.

For the price, you can’t go wrong! Big rooms with separating curtain, nearly full kitchen in every room, brand new everything, green philosophy, free breakfast, and part of Hilton chain so get points too. Totally works for me and if ever back in Charleston will be back here!
