The Home Depot

This has to be one of the worst stores I’ve ever walked into. No one to assist you, the store itself is a mess and unless you speak Spanish don’t expect any help.
Whites are not welcome here. They would ignore the Craig Menear (CEO of Home Depot) just like they ignored me.
I walked in with a panel of one of my blinds in hand. Ms Teresita Rivera took 40+ minutes to place the order. Do you get an email confirming the order? NO. Do you get a tracking number for the order? NO. Do you get a call when the order comes in? NO. How do track the order? YOU CAN’T.
End result-​Ms. Rivera order 9′ ½″ vertical blinds and had them drop shipped via Fed Ex with no way to track the order. Try returning 9′ ½″ vertical blinds.
This from Home Depot… NEVER again. You have been warned so if it happens to you blame yourself.

I don’t know why reviews are so bad here! They seem to have a pretty good stock of items, and everyone was very helpful. I’ve always been able to find what I need or get the help to. The only negative thing is that the wood quality isn’t the greatest. I’m not sure if it’s just all picked over or what, but it can be hard to find the board you want in decent shape. You’ll probably have to dig for one!

Manager of the «key cutting department» is an arrogant dick. Customer service is a joke. lowes is right next door. They just got my business. I would rather get raped than spend another dollar at this Home Depot. They don’t stand behind their products or services. Done and done.

If you are renovating your kitchen you have to go to Clara. She is THE BEST.
She is very personable, she is an excellent designer and she will guide you through the whole process carefully. She goes above and beyond her call of duty.
Update: Ellin, delivery coordinator, has also been extremely helpful though this entire renovation process. I had to pick up parts of my order and get the rest delivered. It took several last minute calls and she handled my needs with extreme professionalism and ease. Thank you ladies from the bottom of my heart!

DON’T Buy Appliance at Home Depot!!!
Yes, you will regret it. Right before President’s day, I was looking for a good deal on dishwashers. I found one online that I liked and checked the prices. Everyone’s prices were the same but I chose home depot because I was naïve to think that since they are such a big company, everything will be smooth and will go well. I spoke to Adam Abel a manager in Utah 800−430−3376 ext. 52 899 and he gave me info on warranty, installation and return policy and said if you have any problems call me. I’m in NYC and bought the dishwasher the next day online. They automatically assigned the North Bergen store to me instead of NY locations.
I took a day off for the delivery and installation. The installer (third party company in NJ called «Home delivery America» 201−758−8081) came, looked at my existing dishwasher and said that the kitchen floor is raised and he can’t pull it out of the place to install the new dishwasher. I told him that a year before an authorized repairman came to fix the dishwasher, he pulled it out, fixed it and put it back so I don’t see any reason for you not to be able to do this. He said it might scratch the floor and if it does we (home delivery america) has to pay for it not the home depot. I said that the repairman last year pulled it out without any problem but if you are concerned put thick card board (from the new dishwasher’s packaging) on the floor and pull it out. He refused, took the brand new dishwasher with him and left.
I was furious, I had taken the day off and paid over a grant for this to be done. I called the customer service, Adam (above manager) and couldn’t get a hold of him and spent 2 hours on the phone and I was just stuck in the loop speaking to representatives that couldn’t and didn’t know how to do anything. I called the North Bergen home depot and spoke to Joanne the supervisor and she flat out refused to help arrange something different. So I asked for a refund. 3 weeks later they didn’t issue a refund and I had to call my credit card department and file a dispute.
Home depot might be good if you need a 2X4 or a pvc pipe but they can’t handle appliance at all. They are too big for their own good. I ended up buying a dishwasher form PC Richards and although their online reviews was terrible, they gave me a fantastic service, they delivered, installed and by the time I contacted them they had reduced the price of the same exact dishwasher model $ 110 less than home depot.

I usually go to the Home Depot in Chelsea Manhattan. I love the plant section because well, I love plants. I wanted a tall palm plant but didn’t want to have to schlep it from Manhattan home to NJ. I thought that all of the Home Depots carried the same stuff so I decided to visit this one in North Bergen and check out their plants.
Well, there was a plant section, but there were less than 8 plants in it. This was in stark comparison to the plant department in the Manhattan store. They have a huge selection of hanging plants, small plants, orchids, cacti, as well as many plants that I’ve never seen before. The North Bergen Home Depot plant section consisted of a total of 8 plants. I thought that there must be another plant section that I missed but a worker confirmed that this was it.
When I got to the cash register with a small plant, there was one young lady and a line of 8 or so customers. She was the only person working in the front of the store so she decided to supervise the self help check out registers instead of ringing up items herself. A few of the customers didn’t know how to operate the self help registers so she was spending a lot of time with the customers. At one point she became quite frustrated and using the overhead page system, yelled out, «SOMEONE NEEDS TO COME ASSIST ME AT THE REGISTERS NOW!!! I’M BY MYSELF AND THIS AIN’T WORKING.»
I put the plant down and headed on over to the other home improvement store that starts with a L and ends with ooooos.

Okay, idk why it has such bad reviews, but here’s my take on this place.
It’s November and almost every other store has changed over to look like the north pole, it’s terrible. While this home depot has done so for a small part of the store, the rest of it is still the same. THANK YOU. I needed more charcoal b/​c grilling/​smoking season never ends! They were fully stocked on all things grilling. And I browsed the aisles, for shiggles b/​c i love tools for no reason :) Everything seemed fine, just like any other home depot, not sure what all these other people are complaining about. I never really needed assistance from a worker so maybe I’m missing something there. Honestly, though, we have the internet, they’re called DIY projects for a reason and if by now, you haven’t realized how handy the internet is and rely on minimum wage workers at home depot to give it their best! and help you out, that’s your own fault. The home depot app lets you pick the store you want to go to, pick an item, and it’ll say if it’s there or not. If the item exists in the store you’re currently in, it’ll tell you exactly which aisle and bin it’s in. L 2 DIY!
Only bad part is the location and all the traffic in that area, but that has no effect on the store’s performance.

I’ve actually come here several times already. My family and I have bought tiles here for our new place. The people who helped us in these departments were nice and helpful, but unfortunately when I came here to buy a stove last week we got very bad customer service. When no appeared in the department to help us, I set out to look for someone or anyone to give us information. I first went to the kitchen table top section where the man I asked for help rudely told me to wait in that department because he was helping someone else. Even though I clear said I was sorry to inturrupt but would he kindly call someone to come to the appliance department. But no… apparently giving me an attitude was a better response than to actually help me. When he saw I was upset at his answer, he paged someone to come to the department. My family and I just left when no one came to help us after waiting 20 minutes.

This is the worst Home Depot in all of NJ! The employees are unprofessional and misrepresent information when they are caught blatantly lying. We tried for three weeks to get credit for an order that was cancelled and given the run around each time. The way that they deal with customers (even people who pose as managers) is unacceptable. And if these are real managers Home Depot needs to evaluate how they promote people and how employees should represent their brand. After multiple issues with this store we went to Lowe’s and got exactly the same thing with no problems, no misrepresentations and no run around.

Terrible. I needed help carrying the moving boxes I was purchasing (they were too tall for me) and none of the sales associates walking the floor would help. One guy walked past me, saw me struggling and asked, «are you okay» and kept walking as I said I needed help. I asked the cashier if she could ask someone to help me and she said no. It was all around a terrible experience.

Worst customer service ever. No one around to ask and when you finally find someone, they keep sending you to a different are. I will make my best effort to avoid this store.

Quite possibly one of the worst Home Depot stores I have visited. Everything inside has looked like its the day after Black Friday. Things are where they don’t belong, dirty everything, broken cash registers and carts and dolly’s were everywhere all over the store and parking lot, but none in the area where they should be picked up.
The store help seemed none existent and when we finally found someone were told to ask at the front. I did not find what I needed and left disappointed.
Needless to say I wont be back here again.

Mike in the paint department gets the «most helpful» award! He was awesome! He over heard what we were talking about and pointed us to exactly what we were looking for. Mike gets 5 stars! I want to give this Home Depot a higher rating but the person who answered the phone put me on hold for 8 mins before answering my question but, he did eventually answer my question none-​the-​less.

Can I give them negative 10 stars? Honestly, they deserve it.
The people who work at this Home Depot are incompetent, slothful and completely indifferent to helping paying customers.
I’ve been to this Home Depot numerous times. And I’ve always been forced to wait around for a «specialist» to help me out, regardless of the department. Things are even more ridiculous if you try to call them on the phone.
I found these great-​looking maple floors. And I was extremely hesitant to place my order through the Home Depot because I’ve seen the way their employees behave. Unfortunately when I spoke to the manufacturer, I was told that these particular floors were made exclusively for the Home Depot.
So off to Home Depot we go… *sigh*
My husband and I walk in and there are only 2 employees in the whole flooring department — both of them inept. Of course they are unable to provide us with pricing, despite the fact that there’s a label on the flooring, showing its exact SKU and a fixed price. One of the employees starts «assisting» us which consists of typing slowly on her keyboard and blabbering in Spanglish with her co-​worker.
15 minutes later, an angry Russian woman, dressed in more fur than you can imagine storms in. She starts gesticulating and throwing her Dior purse around… and of course the employee who’s been «helping» us drops everything and goes to her. So we’re neglected for over 10 minutes. Eventually I go to the other employee who’s been sitting there and holding a phone in her hand for the longest time. She doesn’t help us at all. 10 more minutes and they agreed to honor the price on their own sticker. (Boy, aren’t we lucky?!)
We are told that the floors will be delivered to Home Depot and that we’d have to pick them up from there. (Should we use our sedan for this?!) When we inquire about a home delivery, the woman cuts us off to tell us that it’s not possible, because they have to «inspect» the floors first. But she adds that we can then have them transferred from the Home Depot to our home for a flat rate of $ 79.
…
10 days later I receive a voicemail from a Home Depot employee, trying to schedule a delivery with me. I try calling her and nobody picks up. I try again and again and again… 6 days in a row. I leave messages with various employees, none of which seem to know what on Earth I’m talking about. They all pull my order and are left clueless. But they all promise that they «will leave a message» for God-​knows-​who, so he/​she/​it can call me.
Yesterday and today I had the displeasure of talking with more useless employees. They too said that they’d leave a message for someone. I’ve spent hours waiting on hold. One of them mentioned that my order is scheduled for a pick up and not a delivery. *facepalm*
I’ve decided to follow the Russian woman’s example and do what she did. (Now I understand why she was so angry with them.) I’ll have to find the time to go to the Home Depot this afternoon and find someone to yell at. Apparently that’s the only way to get Home Depot’s employees to wake up and give you what you pay for.
Home Depot promotes lethargy and apathy. Its employees lack intrapersonal skills. If you happen to get even mediocre customer service from them — consider yourself blessed and move on. But better yet — go to Lowe’s where the employees are held to a much higher standard.

This is absolutely the worst Home Depot ever. There is zero customer service and the employees here have no initiative to provide any help or knowledge to the consumer. The place is like a ghost town in the aisles. I have tried to buy appliances here but never found a credible salesperson who actually knew what they were talking about. Hence, I buy my appliances in the Succasunna store.
I literally just had a new refrigerator installed this morning and needed assistance with a cracked drawer and return of some unnecessary items. I was told that since I bought my appliance in Succasunna, North Bergen would not help me. I tried to return the hose line that came with the refrigerator and after they figured out they could help me with the return, issued me a store credit. Apparently all Home Depots work as separate silos when it comes to appliances. This service model sucks and is not communicated to you when buying things.
I also needed to replace a
order of fire alarm converters and couldn’t find a single person to help me in Electrical. I actually heard a contractor yelling at the other ‘Customer Service’ representative (yes, I used quotes because they don’t actually try and provide any service) about losing time and money because there was no one to help in Electrical. Frustrated, I just returned the converters I received in the mail and will go directly to Kidde for replacement.
This Home Depot also double dips on the sales tax. I returned items bought from another store and from online that I paid 7% sales tax. They only give you a refund of 3.5% sales tax because they don’t know how to work the cash register.
To top it off, one of the clerks needed my drivers license to process returns and didn’t give it back to me at the end of the transaction. After getting halfway home, I had to turn around and go back to Home Depot. Despite being there for the whole time of my nightmarish encounter with ‘Customer Service’, the two girls pretended to not know about the license being left and then finally pulled it out of the cash register drawer. They could barely contain their laughter over my inconvenience. Childish retail revenge tactic.
You would think that the Home Depot Manager would train its staff better, based on these horrible reviews. I would only go to this store if I had a home improvement emergency.

Help is mixed, and frequently unobtainable, even if you can get a hold of a live person. Try calling the store and asking for a specific department to get an example.
The 3.5% sales tax is treated like a joke. Anything you buy on line and pick up is 7%. I just bought a refrigerator in person that was also taxed at 7% and didn’t realize it until I got home. So far, I haven’t been able to get a hold of them to inquire why. I assume if I do they will tell me they can’t do anything about it.
HD customer care has proved useless. If you bring correspondence from them to the store to back up your point then the store will tell you that you need to speak to Corporate.
Main good thing is Lowes is next door and you can comparison shop.

Update 1÷27÷16: I see someone else had a problem with a dishwasher delivery. I took off from work for the delivery. Guy took one look under the sink and said the angle stop was leaking. I begged to differ and put him on the phone with my licensed plumber, who had recently been under the sink to install a faucet. They had a loud, extended discussion in Spanish, refused to install it, and then left after delivering the DW at my request. Plumber came over shortly thereafter, tightened the valve, and charged me for a house call.
Having already spent more than the installation charge on a plumber, I called HD’s service line to reschedule installation. To make a *very* long story short, the person I spoke to entered notes but never contacted the delivery company. I had enough sense to call the day before to confirm. Was about to tell them to take the new machine back but this is in a rental so I installed it myself rather than have my tenants go into the third week without a DW. My HVAC guy happened to be working in the unit so he helped me get the old one down the stairs. I called HD and scheduled haul away. Am waiting for a credit for the installation.
Congrats, HD, for becoming my first one-​star review. Never mind that I’m not buying appliances from you any more. I’m not buying ANYTHING from you, ANYWHERE, any more.

Very disappointed that the Wagner Rachet Smart roller I purchased was a used item and I was not informed. I bought the product last night, and this morning when I opened the box, the roller was dried out and the rest of the product was stained with paint and unusable. We chose the North Bergen Home Depot due to it’s closeness to the Walmart. I will never visit this group of idiots again. I really should have gone to Lowes. When I called the store this morning, the representative who answered the 210−868−8125 number said, «yeah, that happens. I can’t look up if the item you want to return is available in the Bronx because it’s not in my network area». What kind of service is this?! I have a tight deadline to get what I need accomplished and now I have to go out searching for a product that the store managers should have already evaluated and kept off of the shelves. I am so disappointed! I will let everyone know that this store isn’t about customer satisfaction.

This is the worst Home Depot. The employees are warm bodies filling orange aprons. They provide little more value than that. Perhaps, if you know exactly what you are looking for and where to find it, you’ll have a good experience, but don’t expect much guidance from the employees here. Their slogan «You can do it. We can help» really doesn’t apply here. It’s more like «Figure it out yourself».
I came here on Sunday looking for a hose to attach to the dehumidifier in my basement. The old dehumidifier died and we could not get the hose off that drains from the unit into our slop sink. We had a small length of hose running form the dehumidifier into the slop sink 3 feet away so that it can continuously drain and we don’t have to regularly empty the water. When we got the house, we were newbies, so we just bought a garden hose and cut it short. I’ve learned a thing or two since then and I know I have seen shorter lengths of hose.
I described what I was looking for to customer service, as well as two or three other employees in the store. They pointed me to «Plumbing», where someone would be able to help me. When I got there, I explained what I wanted and that I had previously used a short piece of garden hose. They pointed me to a several shelves of hose, all of varying width. I explained I wanted it the size of a garden hose. I said it needs to connect like a garden hose would and asked with of those hose would work with a fitting that would connect like a garden hose. They have NO CLUE. They asked ME what size fitting that would be! I was frustrated and I started taking it out on my boyfriend (poor thing). These so-​called experts were USELESS.
Finally, I decided to just get a garden hose, as we had already spent far too much time and endured far too much frustration. We went to the garden hose aisle to find the shortest, cheapest length of hose possible, which I would then cut to the proper length. And what to my wondering eyes should appear but… a «leader hose». It was EXACTLY what I needed. Essentially, this is the hose that attaches between the outside faucet and a hose reel, but it was precisely what i was looking for. These idiots have zero problem solving skills. I would have been far better off going to a mom-​and-​pop hardware store where I could have gotten some useful guidance.
Okay, so that’s the «bad and ugly». Here’s the «good».
* Conveniently located in Hudson County where you can shop on Sunday. If you embark on a weekend painting project with Behr paint and you run out, this could be your salvation, if you happen to live in Bergen County, like I do.
* Next to Dunkin Donuts. It’s a nice stop on a hot summer day, especially when the 99 cent iced tea deal is going on.
* 3.5% sales tax
* Large selection (as with all Home Depots) should you know EXACTLY what you need and where to find it.
* Located next door to Lowes, where they are almost as useless and no one can help you because «the guy in that department» happens to be on his one-​hour dinner break. (even in an emergency, like massive local flooding).
If you need to shop here and require help good luck! You’ll need it!

The North Bergen store is a big improvement over the Secaucus Home Depot. Big store and huge lot that is easily accessible and great location near Target and Lowe’s…just in case you can’t find what you need. 3.5% sales tax here.

Apart from the discounts* I just found out about, the great thing about this HD is its two neighbors; Dunkin Donuts and it’s rival Lowes; all three literally share parking lots. Other than that, it’s much a self service since most, not all, employees are no where to be found the majority of the time.
