Description

Specialties

The Greater Norristown Police Athletic League is a non-profit, volunteer organization serving the youth and families of the Greater Norristown community with recreational, educational, and cultural programs addressing citizenship, self-esteem, avoidance of substance abuse, and respect for law and order.

History

Established in 1974.

Several Norristown Police Officers and community leaders formed Greater Norristown PAL in 1976. It has been maintained as a nonprofit, volunteer organization ever since.

For almost 40 years, GNPAL has provided programs and services to thousands of area youth. GNPAL’s unique approach to providing young people with positive exposure to law enforcement personnel has become a time proven method that has made a difference in many lives. It’s not uncommon to talk to parents of current participants and learn that they were once members themselves. Clearly, GNPAL’s impact on the Greater Norristown Area spans generations.

Since the Greater Norristown PAL Center opened in 2004, the organization has worked with area law enforcement and community volunteers to provide a well-balanced program of educational, recreational and arts activities that address the varying needs of young people.

In 1997, he returned to the non-profit field as the Assistant Youth & Family Services Director with the Audubon Branch of the Phoenixville Area YMCA. In 1999, he accepted a similar position at the Phoenixville Branch of the YMCA. By 2002, he was serving as the Youth Services Director at the Spring Valley YMCA, a position he held until 2004.

In April of 2004, Brett returned to his hometown to begin his tenure as Execut Director of the Greater Norristown Police Athletic League, where he continues to serve today. The Center has grown into a thriving community center, which provides opportunities for hundreds of youth each month. PAL is where Brett feels that he truly belongs, helping youth from the community where he grew up.
