History
Established in 1999.
Sooner Legends started out as Bob’s BBQ in 1999. The restaurant was owned by Doug Kennon who was later joined by his sister Valerie Kennon. Doug and Valerie eventually took over the bar next door to the restaurant and named it Red Zone. In 2005, the hotel that was located where Sooner Legends is now went out of business. Instead of packing up and moving their restaurant and bar they decided to buy the hotel. On the way to the Orange Bowl they came up with the concept for Sooner Legends, an all Sooner Sports themed property. In 2006, Sooner Legends opened its doors as one property, a hotel, restaurant, and bar. Each of the hotel rooms is named after a different Sooner Legend from the past. The hallways are covered in memorabilia and murals that have been signed by the players over the years. Sooner Legends is still owned and operated by Valerie and Doug Kennon and a loyal staff.
