Moore Norman Technology Center – Franklin Road Campus

America has been cast into the ravages of economic hardship. Millions have been out of work for extended periods of time, many of which have been unemployed for a few years. Savings have been erased, and countless lives have been thrown into despair. Corporate greed and excess have been brought to the forefront, pitting those struggling to survive against the titans of industry who sleep comfortably in luxury at the expense of their workers. Uncaring and out-​of-​touch governments have adopted the «let them eat cake» philosophy, cutting need to those who need it most, while garnering support of locals to find economic scapegoats. As they fiddle while Rome burns, the nation has been thrown into turmoil, tension and uncertainty…
But, hey! Don’t let that ruin your day!!!
Having exceeded one year of unemployment myself, and sending in my resume to receive (in descending order of frequency):
1) A void from which I would hear nothing back
2) A generic, corporate rejection (which oddly enough was worded the same by every company)
3) An interview, which went nowhere
Surely, it HAD to be the economy and not me… right? Nope, wrong. Something about me wasn’t right, and I questioned that. What I did was evaluate the jobs for which I was applying to see what they all had in common (outside of the qualifications I did have) and see what I could do to remedy the situation through self-​improvement.
My biggest problems were in technological proficiency, and I found out that I needed to acquire some new skills. I did some research and settled on Moore Norman Technology Center to take the classes I needed. What I needed was an accelerated program. They had two options: in-​person or online. The in-​person program wasn’t nearly as frequent as the online program, and took the same amount of time. I opted for the online program so that I could started, because if I hadn’t, at this time I still wouldn’t have been able to start the program because the class hasn’t started yet. Online can be a little frustrating, but the teachers are available (via a group discussion board) and they were quite thorough. On top of that, the classes are incredibly reasonable in price. The people I spoke to on the phone were knowledgeable, informative and courteous as well.
There are some disadvantages though. You can’t email the teachers with questions, and have to rely on the discussion board only. They have something about computer labs on campus that can complicate matters. The program I needed costs $ 1600 and they don’t have it on their computers at school, so I had to spring for the program. Ouch. Luckily I was able to get a great discount. You can’t beat $ 1300 off the price.
After I took what I needed, I took another class just to polish my resume a bit more. I will say that after taking these classes, I found a job rather quickly, so I believe I acquired enough of the skills needed to find work. In sum: if you can manage taking classes, I would strongly recommend browsing their catalog.
