Fancy Cakes Etc

I chose Fancy Cakes for my wedding cake designer. And what a beautiful creation we made together. I made an appointment, the manager and I sat down and created my cake from scratch on a piece of paper. When I arrived to my wedding venue, my cake was already there in all its splendor. Beautiful design, the taste could use some work, but at a wedding, taste really doesn’t matter. Pictures don’t capture taste, they capture the design, and this place really went above and beyond on my cake.

I ordered Fancy Cakes for my son’s 5^th birthday party. They were $ 21 for a dozen with approximately 35 – 40 styles to chose from. This price was for the standard cupcake, apparently they offer theme specific decoration and toppings at an additional charge. But, I just went with the regular.
We had strawberry, vanilla, triple chocolate, and bacon maple. I got some with filling inside the cakes and some regular. All were a hit. I tried the bacon maple, and it wasn’t «mapley» enough for me. The bacon was baked into the cake, which I appreciated. This flavor has become ubiquitous at bakeries and donut shops (as it should) but this was the first time I can recall having the bacon baked into the baked good rather than just on top. The strawberry icing was fantastic. Everyone really enjoyed them.
I ordered 3 days in advance and was advised they would be ready at open on the day of the party. When my sister and mother arrived to pick up the cupcakes, they weren’t ready. I don’t think they waited more than a half hour, but that was annoying when we were told they would be ready promptly at 9 and had other errands to run to get ready for the party. But, I can’t argue that they weren’t fresh, they most certainly were. I’ll use Fancy Cakes again.

Tried the cupcakes because I had a Groupon for them. The confetti cupcakes were over-​cooked and about 50% at most was edible. Frosting was similar to what you could get at a supermarket. The flavor options were odd: root beer, snow ball, cotton candy, etc. I would rather get cupcakes from the local Sam’s club.

Groupon has a deal. Buy it! Their cupcakes are really good. Tasty! I got a bunch for my boyfriends parents and finally got around to getting some for myself and I was extremely pleased with them. The place is small and staff are helpful.

I was so disappointed in the cupcakes we got from Fancy Cakes. We had an idea and took in pictures of how we wanted the cupcakes to look. They advertise photos on their Facebook page of custom cupcakes with great frosting designs. When we picked up the cupcakes, they just printed off pictures and stuck them to the top of the cupcakes. It was freaking pitiful. Wish there was an option for «no stars.»

I worked with Debra on a custom design to tell our parents that we were pregnant. She was so creative and wonderful. I could not have asked for a better person to work with. The cake was beautiful, and I know it tasted yummy. Prices were great, and she even delivered! I am SO thankful that I found Fancy Cakes to work with! I strongly recommend them for your cake!

AVOID THIS BUSINESS AT ALL COSTS!
My wedding cake was an absolute disaster.
There was supposed to be ribbon on the bottom of each tier, separating it from the one below it. No such ribbon was there, and she completely denied even talking about putting ribbon on the cake, except for «telling you not to use it.» Each tier was supposed to be staggered so it looks like it corkscrewed upwards. The tiers were just put on their plain, one on top of the other and not staggered at all. Her response was that «we must have gone over multiple options, this was never in my notes.» The piping was horrific and there were nicks, smears, and overall shotty piping on all four sides. As well as dents and large wrinkles in the fondant. I told her I have pictures, and would gladly show her, she replied that she also had pictures and would love to compare.
She said she would bring extra icing and attach the cake topper if we left it on the table. It had a flat base, so we needed something to keep it stuck to the cake. When I asked why she didn’t do that, she replied with, «I figured there would be somebody there intelligent enough to attach a cake topper.»
We also ordered an extra half-​sheet cake so if we ran out of the wedding cake, we would have something to serve. She never brought that.
When I called to talk about everything, she was extremely rude saying things like, «good grief, are you going to nitpick everything about your cake?» and «I look forward to never serving you, or your family ever again» and she told me my groom’s cake (which she didn’t make) was «ugly and the colors didn’t match your wedding» and that the caterers asked her to setup the grooms cake, and that she should charge me for that setup. All of which is false. The caterers took the cookie cake out of the box, set it on the round plastic serving tray, and put it on the table, all while my mom stood there and watched.
Overall, the lady that owns Fancy Cakes Etc is very unprofessional, completely rude, and a terrible business-​person.

I received a super cute cake and excellent customer service. I needed a bachelorette party cake in 48 hours, and not only did I get a corset cake that looked exactly like the picture we found together on Google Images, but I received a 30% discount! These gals are the best!
