Established in 1973.

Family owned and operated since 1973, Wine and Cake Hobbies began as Virginia Winemaker Supply, selling only wine and beer making equipment and ingredients (founder, Jim Eversole’s hobby). Within two years, Jim’s wife, AnnaBelle, joined the business and started selling supplies in cake decorating and candy making and offered classes, as well. In 1976, the store relocated and underwent several expansions, including an extensive party and bridal shop and gourmet & catering products. At present, three generations and extended family members handle the day to day operations.

Business Owner

James «Jim» Eversole served as an Entomologist for the Department of the U.S. Navy and was later stationed with the family in Europe for a period of time. This is where AnnaBelle bought Jim his first Wine Making kit and his new hobby was born. A few years later, when they were back stateside, (1973) Jim opened a little shop on Chesapeake Blvd in Norfolk, VA, called «Virginia Winemaker Supply». This was only for about 3 hours each night after work. This little venture offered Tidewater’s people the goods to make their own homemade wine. A few years later, Beer Making was legalized in Virginia and was added to the shop’s retail shelves. In the meantime, AnnaBelle had been learning Cake Decorating over the years as her hobby. Jim gave her a little section of the shop to sell supplies in her department. They eventually outgrew the store and moved to our Tidewater Dr location in 1976. We lost Jim in 1997, but AnnaBelle & the family have continued the legacy ever since.
