Its our first & last time here at this location. Manager(Ledal) or whatever you call him was very unprofessional, dirty front &back, sloppy(untucked shirt) and unaware of whats going on. Customer service was great at my table but the cooks were ridiculous. Takes more than 30 minutes to get 2 waffles made. Please i advise you if you can avoid this location do so. There are bugs(Roch) in cabbage. Silverware are still dirty. Glad that a renovation is going to be made because God knows they need It.

I’ve been to all the local Golden Corral restaurants and though this location is historically the most unkempt and dirtiest the quality of the food surpasses that of the other locations and the service is consistently excellent. I believe they have recently replaced their old dirty and stained plates and flatware because the last couple of times my wife and I have visited they were really clean. The food is average like most buffets but there is a good variety and everyone can find something they like. At dinner, the steaks are really flavorful and delicious, I find the fried chicken to also be very good and the fried fish is delicious as well. Of course you already know the yeast rolls are first rate but I really wish they had real butter to slather on them. The soups(chili, broccoli and cheese, New England clam chowder) are pretty good, especially the chili. I like to put some shredded cheese on top of the chili but wish they had real sour cream to top it with rather than the nasty imitation sour cream so many buffets seem to favor these days. On the lunch buffet I really enjoy the awesome cheeseburger sliders along with the french fries and onion rings. Recently they have added the«breakfast for lunch and dinner» items. I especially enjoy the biscuits and sausage gravy, the eggs and bacon are delicious as well. I always end my meals with some delicious soft serve ice cream. One thing I never indulge in at any Golden Corral is soft drinks. I will not pay $ 2.39 plus tax for a soft drink as I find the price exorbitant though not out of line with what other restaurants are charging these days. I’ll stick with a glass of water. All in all this Golden Corral location has decent food and excellent service, they probably deserve 3.5 stars but Unilocal doesn’t afford us the option of half stars and I just can’t bring myself to give them four so I have given them three.

All you can eat. Yeah that’s what a buffet is right. But only when everything is stocked. If nothing is stocked then you can’t eat it all. Also, it’s pretty gross when you’ve got food that’s been sitting there for 20 minutes and it’s clearly dried and old, yet does not get replaced. That’s what happened here. Steak, nah. Eggs, nah. The only thing that even seemed remotely fresh and even that was a long shot was the veggies for salad. As always though, because it’s hard to screw up soft serve ice cream, the dessert was ok at best. Now I know this place isn’t meant to impress the high rollers, its be nice to see at least a little bit of effort with the quality of food including its presentation. Its hard to bloom at taco meat and want it when it looks like dog food. They restaurant however was clean and the pictures I took I tried my best to show off the food. I must be a darn good photohlgrapher. The only reason to return to Golden Corral is because once in a while it’s fun to just see how much you can eat for $ 11. Plus, it’s one less night my own kitchen will be dirty. 3 stars instead of w because it was pretty clean in there and that’s always a good thing.

Food tasted great! However the restaurant was filthy, many crusty plates in the clean pile and left over food in the clean silverware buckets. Tables were dirty and high chairs for toddlers reeked like soggy-dirty old wash rags. The servers were polite and helpful. The crowd was loud and obnoxious even on a Sunday. A police officer stands duty inside this location eat still there wasn’t a very safe feeling. Bathrooms were pretty gross. I won’t bash the Golden Coral for their food though because everything tastes great and the kids loved it. Just wouldn’t choose this location to dine in again. Hopefully there are other locations in VA that are much cleaner and«safer». P. S. Don’t forget to tip the server! It seems no one does at this location as when I handed our server a $ 5 tip she was delighted, surprised and very grateful. They work hard to keep the crumbs cleaned up and plates cleared away, also every server we met was very nice and helpful!

DELICIOUS. This was by far the Best Golden Corral I have been to. The food was excellent! Catfish cooked completely, steak and fried chicken were flavorful, ribs were falling off the bone tender, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes were really good, the spaghetti tasted like lasagna and the pecan pie took me back down south.

Actually, not bad. Certainly a good ratio of available calories to cost. It pays to skip a meal before coming. The turkey was quite serviceable. The fried okra was not bad. Their policy of breakfast all day led me to try the French Toast at dinner. It was good. Apple pie with soft ice cream is always a plus.

The bar is dirty! Customer service is very bad! The workers do not appear happy. I rarely; if ever go to this GC for all the bad reasons. I just don’t understand how management and cooperate don’t see how bad this place is! Or maybe they really don’t care about their customers at all! It’s only a block from my house but I refuse to go! Close the place down, it’s a disgrace to GC!!!

I’ve been to a few GC’s and I have never seen a more disgusting display of food. Food was crusted over, poorly heated, alarms going off constantly, and inadequately staffed. To top it off, the armed guard was trying to help with ice and drinks. Yes, an armed police officer is apparently needed for this location!

My friend and I and her grand daughter went there for a nice lunch on a rainy day. We should of had a ham sandwich at home. Our first plate of the food choices we made were cold and tasteless or if they did have a flavor they tasted awful. We decided to try different foods. The results of the second try were the same as the first. The only thing we found edible was the banana pudding and the ice cream. Even the rolls were hard on the top and cold. Never again!

I felt compelled to write a review since there was not one for 2014. I thought it was unfair to leave it’s overall rating at a 1.5 with two poor reviews. Let me first say I am not a big fan of the buffet. But, for the price, what is offered and the quality you by far get what you par for and more. When our children were younger we would definitely be considered regulars at another location in Virginia Beach. I have not been to this location just outside of Norfolk International Airport in years and have never found it below par when I used to dine here. It is an older building with a design possibly back to the late 80’s. For those that enjoy the new look and layouts of their new restaurants like on VB Blvd this may be a disappointment. However, it is completely functional in every way. I came here for a field trip with my daughter after her choral performance at the airport. There is plenty of parking and the lot and sidewalks were clean. The exterior is maintained. I would consider the area safe, it’s less than a half mile from the Norfolk PDHQ. Upon entering you get your drink at pay. Adults $ 8.69 to $ 11.59 depending on if your are having lunch, or dinner. It’s a real bargain for kids 4 – 9 at $ 5.99 which was our group rate. But if you wonder why there are so many Seniors at Golden Corral look no further than the price and wide variety of offerings and you have a combination that draws this segment in. For a week day lunch experience I found it to have pretty brisk traffic, but not overwhelmed. There is a special room dubbed the«Norfolk Board Room» that easily can accommodate 50 customers. The area was clean and wait staff were prepared for the 524th and 5th graders to come in. We were afforded two waitresses that started with drink orders which was a big undertaking, but handled nicely. The children enjoyed the variety of food which ranging from everything to salad, fruit, veggies, chicken, fish, beef(they had cheeseburger sliders fresh off the grill) and tons of sides. You will not leave hungry. But it’s the deserts that the kids wanted to make there way to after eating lunch. Offerings such as a chocolate fountain and a cotton candy bar were the big hits. If your thinking a cotton candy bar seems nuts I’m right there with ya. My daughter enjoyed fish, fries and fruit and enjoyed all. I had backed cod, sweet potatoes, fruit and their heavenly fresh backed bread and for desert peach cobbler. We both enjoyed everything we had. The floors and bar area was clean at each station. As well the area where you retrieve plates and silverware was orderly. The staff was helpful and involved in clearing plates toward the end. It would have been nice to have them more active earlier, but we were only there a little over a half hour. I don’t recall them asking for drink refills at my table. They had a tough job with that many children and handled it satisfactorily. At the end I assisted with the children washing there hands in the restrooms and found them outdated, but clean. I am rounding my 3.5 up to a 4 and feel it deserves the rounding. Overall the biggest thing lacking here was customer service which was difficult to evaluate with this type of visit. Do NOT forget to tip your waitress a few bucks, it is not included in the price.

I have eaten here many times, and every time I go, I am more and more grossed out, it seems to get dirtier every time I visit. I now refuse to eat here. The last time I went I saw a roach run across the top of the counter where the buffet was, the bathrooms are so gross I refuse to even use them… And they once had set out dirty bowls by the ice cream machine instead of clean ones. I say visit a different location because this one is crude.

I went there with my family on a Sunday. I was a bit disappointed at the place and food. The eating area isn’t as big as most Golden Corrals. It is a bit dirty and not well kept. The food is sub-par. Every other dish to eat on I selected from the service area still had food particles on it. Same with the utensils. The food appeared to be okay if you get it right when the cook takes it off the grill. The other items that have sat on the grill or are under the warmers are«take at your own risk.» Safe to say that I will not be returning.
