I’ve been meaning to come here for the longest after accidentally discovering the restaurant while lost in Oceanview one day. I’ve looked at their menu plenty of other times when I contemplated coming here but never made it here. I decided on their cuban sandwich long before coming here which consists of ham, pork tenderloin, dill pickles, swiss cheese, mustard on top of a ciabatta bun. I also was in the mood for soup, however the only soup they had was a crab soup as the gentleman described it, so I went with it. In all honesty, I thought the sandwich was GOOD, but not GREAT. I’ve had plenty of sandwiches and some pretty good cuban sandwiches as well. However, this sandwich just didn’t blow the others out of the water unfortunately. Which is ashame because I was really looking forward to wanting to come here a second time. The crab soup just was not tasty at all. Ok, it wasn’t nasty by any means, but it is something that I definitely would not be willing to try again. It is a cream based soup, but a little watery. However, to their credit, real crab was used and plenty of it. The soup unfortunately just lacked any real depth in flavor. The restaurant itself was very tidy however and the décor seemed pretty fun. It sported a very beachy theme which is pretty welcome in that part of town. The cashier who took my order was friendly. Overall, I probably won’t come back. Unfortunately, though the sandwich was put together well, it just didn’t come through for me flavor wise as well as the soup. As far as price, yes the sandwiches are a little pricey, but they are on the same level as other high end sandwich shops. Conclusion: It was nice to try once, probably won’t be back again.

Great food. Service was a little slow but to be fair we went at prime lunch time… The beach bum was awesome

At the risk of sounding cliché, the East Beach Sandwich company is a hidden gem in Norfolk. I mean literally hidden. If you’re not looking for it you’ll probably miss it because of it’s tucked away location on a side street off of Shore Drive. First off, I want to say that the interior is beautiful, the colorful and nautical theme is very aesthetically pleasing. The staff is really nice and helpful with all of my questions. On my first visit, my mom and I both got«The Front Porch» curry chicken salad sandwich on ciabatta. It was okay; however, we both agreed that the chicken salad needed some more seasoning, and we’re both more accustomed to chunkier chicken salad(like what they serve at borjo coffeehouse for example). I also got a side of delicious roasted red pepper hummus and for dessert I got what got me hooked on this place and made me want to come back for more; their whipped chocolate Oreo pie. Oh man it was everything! The second time I came here I got«The Beach Bum» turkey, bacon, ranch, and avacado on Ciabatta warmed up with a side of sour cream and onion dirty chips. I enjoyed this sandwich a lot better than«The Front Porch». Of course I also had to get another slice of that delicious oreo pie, and I also got a pint of their pumpkin cheesecake ice cream, both of which were everything! If you get nothing else here. Please do yourself a favor and get desert. I love that this place is very Unilocal friendly and I can’t wait to experience this hidden gem over and over in the future.

Very good food. Supports local businesses. Can’t go here too much for lunch tho. It’s not cheap. I usually get out the door for around 17 bucks for sandwich, chips and a drink. However… It it very delicious.

My shrimp tacos was great. The part I didn’t like about this place is the gal that actually took my order, delivered my shrimp tacos in a plastic container and shook it like it was nothing. My shrimp went all over that plastic container and no longer in placed on the soft taco shell. I should have gotten her name but all I can say, she was the gal that worked the lunch shift on 14 Oct. if I were the owner, I would fire her for her attitude and delivery of the food. Totally UNSATISFACTORY! In summary, the food was good but the customer service was terrible. Keeping that kind of employee can really ruin everything.

We live in the East Beach area and this is one of our favorite restaurants. The Krusty Knot(aka the pretzel and crab dip appetizer) is phenomenal. There is only one person that makes crab dip just a bit better than here, and that’s my mom.(Love you mom) The sandwiches are flavorful and filling. I’ve had three so far: the Beach Bum, Black Dog BLT, and the Front Porch. We’ve also has the tortellini salad which was very tasty. Ok, now on to the stellar employees. Sarah is GREAT! She remembers us when we comes in or when my wife comes in by herself. Occasionally, we sit in the patio or outside the front door with out little Pomeranian Ellie. When we do, Sarah brings out a small cup of water for our puppy.(Ellie says,“thank you and ruff ruff to Sarah.”) I can’t write a review and without talking about libations. The beer and wine selection is second to none. The prices are some of the best in the area. Sarah recommended a beer based on what I told her and it was spot on. Thank you for great food and great service! Sarah you rock!!!

Finding this place was easy. Street and lot parking available(across the street). Love the area too. Ordered the Cuban because I’m a Miamian trapped in Va… although it wasn’t the typical Versailles or La Carreta cuban, it was pretty good. They use ciabatta instead of cuban bread. Love the atmosphere and the fact that they sell wine. You can sit outside or inside… big comfy furniture.

Amazing sandwiches! Small menu but tons of sandwich, salad and soup options. Just of route 60 which was convenient for our road trip. Also I used the coupon on here which was nice. A little expensive but with a coupon it wasn’t bad and the food was well worth the price. Nice staff and great customer service. Pickles are awesome too!

Excellent lunch after getting off a plane to start our vacation! We ate outside on a hot day, and they offered an umbrella for shade. We declined this — coming from Ohio after a rainy summer so far we really enjoyed the sun and warm weather. My daughter got a fish sandwich, which she said was good. My son asked for roast beef with provolone, but they were out of roast beef and suggested prime rib instead. This was a good choice. My mom got a big salad(can’t remember name) and said it was the best salad she’d ever had. I got the azalea garden sandwich and it too was excellent. Thanks for the great lunch!

The sandwiches I ordered were very delicious! Taste is my favorite sandwich shop in Hampton roads, but east beach may give them a run for their money! Service was fast and friendly. I ordered the bLT and the beach bum; highly recommend both! I will definitely be back!

Delicious club but it took a longer than expected to make but I would still recommend grabbing sandwiches here on the way to your boat.

Tucked into the backstreets of the beautiful East Beach community sits this wonderful gem. The food and service are friendly always with a smile. The sandwiches are excellent and the atmosphere is comfortable. Decorated in a beachy atmosphere with local artist’s creations lining the walls. Outdoor patio, ice cream, wine, it’s all here. I come at least once a week.

I love their sandwiches, however, I’m not really a big fan of the sandwiches they have on the menu. They are always accomodating and the sandwich I had the last time(turkey, with herb mayo… I think) was really good. They also have wine tastings and sell wine, which I thought was pretty cool.

Nice atmosphere, great food that is different and delicious from the others. I had the turkey club with the peppercorn mayo and I wish I had the room in my stomach to fit another! Friendly staff and great environment. I totally intend on becoming a regular.

Not worth $ 9.00 a sandwich. Spoke to some young man named Dillon regarding the lack of meat. He is like yep, yep, yep. It would be mam Dillon. Hope the owner will call me back. Cute place. But we could have had a nice hot lunch somewhere for the $ 20 plus just two sandwiches cost us. Plus the wait is long…

Nice sandwich shop in East Beach, Norfolk. Very clean and great service and they carry all Boars Head products. I had the Beach Bum! Turkey, Applewood bacon, fresh avocado, Swiss Cheese on a Ciabatta Roll; bangin!!! With a drink and chips, my total was about 12 bucks.

What a cute hidden gem! I happened to find this place. They have so many nice things. Gelato, wine, beer, sweets,… I was too full to eat then. I had a summery beer $ 4 and a chocolate chip cookie $ 1for 2. The staffs are really friendly and nice. They have both inside and outside areas. Pretty beachy decorations. Free parking lot across the street. I wish they had a happy hour. Besides that, fabulous!

Fantastico! Local, beachy, cozy, fresh, cute,… How come did I know this place for a long time? Hidden gem. They were not busy at all but they have so many good things. Wine, ham, sandwiches, cakes, cookies, wine, beer, juice,… Not so pricy. Draft beer $ 4. 2 cookies $ 1. 1 gelato $ 3. The staffs are supra nice and friendly. Furniture is pretty. Free parking lot is across the street. They often have some music events. I should go there more often for relaxation.

I ordered two things off the menu and then walked the store while I was waiting. Some local options, a very small fish counter, mostly condiments and sides. Cute and handy for those that live in the area, but the store itself isn’t worth the drive out here. The food on the other hand, is. I enjoyed the fresh fish and large portions. Not going to lie, I was noshing in the car because it smelled too good to wait to get home. Worth checking out again. Great vibe, friendly service, dog friendly patio.
