Applebee’s

So this afternoon I took the family to lunch at the Applebee’s near JANAF inNorfolk. the whole experience wasn’t good. From piss poor service to sanitation issues, to broken glasses to food poisoning. Just wasn’t
nine year old got food poisoning from bland old wings. The manager was accommodating but seemed like she could care less. I left a nasty gram on the store receipt, with my phone number. Oh yeah. No tip either.

The staff sucks! My family and I just had to walk out of there, after standing at the door waiting for someone to even speak to us for 5 minutes. While 5 different employees stood across the room staring at us, never saying a word until I started looking annoyed. We got there around 11:30 am, they weren’t busy at all, with maybe 3 guests in there. I’ll never go back to this location, every time there has been a problem but this time takes the cake.

Applebee’s has a decent Happy hour most (not all) appetizers and drinks are half price. A few that I would recommend is the Siracha shrimp, the nachos and bahama mama and some others. Most of the drinks are overly sweet, not enough liquor which is why I usually only come for happy hour and pay half price. The staff at this location looks like they’re high schoolers but they are polite and helpful so who cares. Not a «fine dining» experience in the least but a good place for quick inexpensive food, to socialize with friends, family or co workers.

Going to Applebee’s (This one specifically) was a treat that I really looked forward too when I was little. My dad would take me every time we saw a movie at Military, every time I got good grades on my report card, and every time I did well playing at an orchestra concert. The quesadilla burger with fries and extra barbecue sauce was everything to me. This location was also an occasional hang out spot for my friends and I in college, even then it was on point. Recently though both the service and food have been subpar.
My friend and I got boneless wing (6 mild and 6 sweet & spicy Asian chili), sriracha shrimp, and mozzarella sticks. The shrimp and mozzarella sticks were bomb, but the wings were just not good, I even had to send back the sweet and spicy chili, and get them replaced with naked. The waitress did not seem happy about this, even though I asked her nicely. Our waitress hardly checked on us and when she gave us our food and drinks she just placed them down and quickly walked off without asking us if we needed anything else or if everything looked good. I felt like I was inconveniencing her whenever I had to make a request.
Before leaving, my friend and I had to use the bathroom and we noticed that there was a weird odor (coming from both the men’s and women’s room) as well as trash all over the floor. Needless to say it’ll be a while before I come back here to dine.

My daughter & I arrived at Applebee’s in Suffolk, VA at 5:30pm to meet group of friends, Reservations had been made for 20 people, the reservation had been confirmed on Sunday. The hostess told our host that they could not put us in large area… too many regular customers. we were crowded into small booth area. Some waited more than 1 hour for food to be served. Our waitress, Savannah was excellent. She tried to keep up with orders. apparently kitchen was pushing our orders aside and jumping others ahead. 1 of our table mates ordered medium hamburger… it came our barely warm and extra crispy. Manger was requested several times, when she finally arrived she was almost rude. Managers excuse for hamburger was that it was «Hamburger nite» therefore kitchen very busy. As I said our waitress was very good. Will not visit this Applebee’s ever again. They will miss out on $$ if this group does not return. My bill for 2 was $ 36.00!

A late night dinner of appetizers last night was delicious. Everything that we orderes was hot amd fresh. I ordered a house salad with ranch dressing, no bacon along with crispy wonton tacos and spinach and artichoke dip (nothing fancy). Surprisingly the tacos were full of flavor, and are now a new favorite of mine. Our server, Titiyana, checked back regularly to refull drinks and to see if we needed anything. Overll all it was a nice dining experience.

Horrible… not recommend I and my wife was sat over 20 mins and nobody come to our table, we decides to leaved and will give them a try another time, maybe not anymore. we talk to gentle man with red shirt at entrance door we will have to leave since we did not get any service at our table, He said apologise blah blah blah, No, Sorry your restaurant have lose my appetite already, I come to your place with high hope of good food and service, guess what we get neither of them, absolutely NO NO NO,

This does not even deserve one star. Flies were flying around in the restaurant and the dank, smelly environment turned me off from wanting to eat there immediately. The floors were really dirty and the air condition was not working. Do not eat here unless you enjoy the smell of warm foot cheese.

Order the Cedar Grilled Lemon Chicken. It’s Chicken, granny smith apples, lemon EVOO, dried cranberries, rice, honey glazed pecans and quinoa. Eat, pay the bill and leave. It’s that good.

Shortly after writing my first review, I received a message on Unilocal from a manager at Applebee’s. The person asked for my contact info so we could further discuss what occurred. I received a call earlier today from the general manager at this location and was offered a sincere apology in addition to a gift card. He mentioned that he just started working there and that he wanted to check in with me and apologize for the experience I had. While my intentions were not to get any sort of gift or reimbursement for my unpleasant experience, I appreciate them contacting me and doing their best to rectify the situation. I was also told that the waitress who helped us would be spoken to about her conduct.
Kudos to Applebee’s for exceeding my expectations and listening to their customers!

Worst Applebee’s I have ever been to! The food tasted absolutely horrible! Never going back!

to my surprise, The manager of this restaurant contacted me personally about my experience. she was very apologetic and sent me a gift certificate to revisit the location. I did so in the last day of the year. To my surprise, a huge improvement from my last visit. They were busy, but on top of their game. Food came out hot, properly proportion, and cooked properly. Very satisfied with my revisit. I will be revisiting soon.

Let’s start with the slow service. Waited 15 minutes for someone to bring us water. The water was brought out in plastic to-​go cups because they «ran out of glasses.» Where is the dishwasher?
Appetizers came out okay, but the delay comes again while waiting for the main entrée.
I ordered from the lemon chicken from the Pub diet menu. Wasn’t too bad.
I think the only issue I have is the slow service. Food is okay.

This location has the worst service, food was slow to come, and overcooked. The only thing I enjoyed was my «Bahama Mama». Next time I go to Applebee’s it won’t be in Norfolk.

Lunch service is extremely slow. Waited 30 mins for my lunch combo… don’t understand.
And btw, this place at night is a different story! Almost «club-​like»… This neighborhood Applebee’s definitely is not family oriented.

Fluffy stopped by for hydration and had an awful experience– this from someone normally chased by dogs. The beer done gone bad and the bartender — who «doesn’t drink beer” — had no idea how awful the product was that she was serving. Thankfully the zoo keeper was about and easily resolved the problem. (why did Fluffy have to identify this huge gaff?). Fluff will survive but with a mental scar among herbivore dreams.

Came here after seeing a movie with the wife, the restaurant had a odd smell that seems like they haven’t cleaned under the slip resistance mats, we sat at the bar which was dirty. Our waitress took about 10 minutes to even acknowledge my wife and I, that was after she was arguing about something with other staff about something, after taking another 5 min to get menus we placed our drink orders, which took 10 minutes and her telling another waiter what we had ordered, at this point me and my wife decided we would take our food to go. It took the food another 30 min to come out.
Other things I noticed was the overall lack of cleanliness of the restaurant there was a pile of dirty dishes at the end of the bar, the carpet looked like it needed a good cleaning, and like I said the smell alone was enough to make me want to leave.

For some unknown reason my parents seem to love Applebee’s. They had received some giftcards for Christmas & asked if I wanted to join them for lunch. Free lunch, so why the heck not…
I’ve been to this location once before with them & it was just ok, nothing special. When we walked in this time I noticed a funky smell, like an old musty apartment that reeked of stale cigarette smoke & old meals. Which is weird, because can you even smoke in an Applebees?
Our waiter was very friendly & brought our drinks out quickly. I went with the Marsala Steak (why didn’t I just go with typical bar food??) that came with parmesan rice. My parents both went with some Whiskey steak skillets that came with mashed potatoes. At least the menu pictures were pretty looking…
Our food came out fairly quick & mine looked like it had been riding in the passenger seat of someone’s car when they hit the breaks too hard. It was all slid on one side. Not very appealing. The only good thing about my meal was the 5 fresh mushrooms slices (shocking!) that were on top of my steak. The parmesan rice was actually mushy rice soaked in some flavorless white goopy sauce. All of our steaks tasted, as my Dad put it, «I think I’m eating someones old leather shoe». The steaks also had a good amount of gristle running through them. The peppers & onions that came on their meals were a joke & their mashed potatoes looked like they had been warmed up in the microwave one too many times. I know, I know, I should have known.
When our waiter asked how it was, my Dad let him know that the steaks weren’t that great. He asked if he would like another & my he declined. Thank goodness, I’ve seen «Waiting» ;-) The manager came over before our check came & apologized for the poor meals, «We must have gotten a bad batch, it’s not our fault.» We weren’t expecting anything, I would have declined free dessert even, but um who’s fault is it? What was the point of even coming over to the table?
Hopefully for our next lunch out my folks will trust their lil Unilocaler to pick the place. ;-)

Terrible! Do not come here. The waiter was terrible and they had no soda. The wait for food was over an hour. I will never come here again. Ever!
