Welcome to the Jimmy Carter Blvd hair salon located in Norcross, GA 30 071. Our success has been built around one simple goal: Specializing in Natural Hair Styling …
Terrible salon. Warning do not go here. She was doing 6 people at one time yet charging real salon prices. She did my roots light brown although I asked for them to be darker than my hair. She said it my hairs problem. She said she would give me a discount as if she did me a favor. I’m going to have to pay for someone to fix what she did. Did I mention I had to still pay!!! My daughters hair was just done okay. Thank god it didn’t require color. What a mistake. She was rude and unapologetic for her lack of result. That is the first time I have never not tipped in my life! Normally I do 25% that tells you how bad this was. Oh and she chemically burned my daughters scalp.

On 8÷23÷15 I visited the Dominican Salon in Norcross and received services from Gladys. To be fair, my hair was washed well with what seemed like quality products. Gladys did a decent job blowing out and trimming my hair but I have had better straightening jobs. The next day my hair was already turning curly and I had to use the flat iron to straighten it. I have visited this salon several times before — the service is about a 3 – 4 star. Not as good as the Dominican Salons in NY but OK for what I can find in GA. Plus, I thought I was getting a deal so I kept coming back. My major gripe is with their unfair business practice and unprofessionalism. Over a year ago, I purchased a «loyalty card» which provides 1 free service if 3 are purchased. When I tried to redeem my previously purchased loyalty card, I was told it was expired. Glady stated the system didn’t recognize the card anymore(even though she didn’t even swipe it). According to Gladys, the salon had switched to the new loyalty cards about a year ago. She stated loyalty cards expire within a year and that the cards are intended for customers who are loyal and would come frequently enough to use the purchased services in a year. So I had to pay full price(plus $ 10 extra for long hair) and didn’t even receive the $ 5 discount advertised for booking online. As a business owner, I understand that ideally you want customers to visit frequently and ideally would want all 4(3 and 1 free) hair treatments used within a year. However, that should be made CLEAR to the customer when the card is purchased. If I had known this policy, I would not have purchased the card — I only have my hair straightened when I trim my ends every 3 months because I feel the extreme heat is damaging to my hair. There is no place on the website or on the advertisement board you in the salon that state the cards expire in a year. When I purchased the card, I received a receipt that I signed — there was no statement that the card expired on the receipt. I was not told when I purchased that the card expires. The card itself does not state it expires. There is no system to check your card’s expiration online or by phone. How would I know the card expired and my money would be lost? I receive tons of emails from this salon advertising specials and other information but I have never received an email or any other communications stating they were switching to a new loyalty card and the old cards would be invalid. I emailed the owner and also sent a communication directly from the website over a week ago but have received no response. Frankly, I feel cheated of my hard-earned money. BUYERBEWARE! I will definitely not support this business again. FYI: The Dominican Salon(previously Gladys Dominican Salon) has 3 locations Kennesaw, Smyrna & Nocross that are all operated by the same owner.

So disappointed. Awful service. Did I mention the service was terrible? I called before going and the person that answered the phone said I could come in since it was a few hours before closing time. When I arrived 30 min later, an hour before closing, the owner said they are closing early but she would take me reluctantly. Well she huffed and puffed and took me but she was not happy. Needless to say, my hair didn’t come out as expected but since it’s so much heat on my hair, I just let it go. If you are looking for a Dominican salon, please go somewhere else!

Today, against my instinct(because I was going to Dominican Touch) I went to this salon because it was closer. I should have known it was going to be a bad experience when one of the ladies wanted to charge me extra because my hair is «natural». Well, first of all, I have your typical curly mixed girl hair! I am Dominican myself and this is the first time a hair stylist has considered my hair«too curly». Then they started speaking in Spanish about the extra charge. I speak Spanish perfectly and made sure they knew… To begin I felt like the lady did not wash my hair well, then she proceeded to blow dry my hair with my back facing the mirror. I did not notice how bad it looked until she turned me around and I saw how poofy, greasy and… Well, how horrible of a job she had done! I was so disappointed. Never did I imagine I would do 10 times of a better job than a «professional» hair stylist. I got up the chair and asked her what she put in my hair. «A conditioner and shine»… Well she didn’t ask me if I wanted anything on it! I never, ever use leave in conditioners or «shine» on my hair because it will get oily the very next day. I paid and left a $ 5 tip… The manager, owner or whoever he was offer a 50% off on my next visit. I politely said«I don’t think it’ll be a next visit». Stay away from that salon! Dominican Touch its a way better salon and less expensive.

I went in there 2 years ago and decided to try them again. I was really please Maria did my hair and she did a very good job. I will definitely go back on a weekly basis. I have tried your typical black salons in atlanta but they are not as good as this one nor do the have a decent of a price. Not to mention having to deal with their typical attitudes. I will go back and continue to use Maria. I have received so much compliments on my hair and I love it. Thank you Maria

I tend to pop up at this salon when I want a quick do. The place is clean tidy and I have never waited over 15 minutes for service. I am usually in and out of the salon in no more than 2 hours. I love it! I do not frequent Dominican salon very often because of the over usage of heat on my hair. However, I do not think that it is a valid complain to say that they use too much heat. It is their technique and I have been to several. Going every now and then is fine for me. I like that they are quick and friendly. They use some oil that leaves my hair shiny and straight. i have no complains and I continue to be a customer every so often.

Great Hair, Terrible Time Management I went to Gladys for the first time in April and the experience was great – great service, and it only took 2 hours for my relaxer/blowout, which is average. Next time, in May, I got burned(relaxer), but the hairdresser was nice and it took a bit longer(3 hours). There was also an older lady who just sort of sat around for hours and talked to the hairdressers, which I thought was weird. The third time I went was in June and it was HORRIBLE. I made an appointment online and it didn’t register(the first two appointments did). My hair turned out beautifully but I was there for FOURHOURS. The salon’s hours start at 10am, but no none got there to open the place until 10:20(my appt was a 10). Service is steadily declining, as is my tip. I’m going to give them one more shot in July. Hopefully the customer service improves or I’m taking my business elsewhere.

This place is so not for me. I decided to give it a try because it was close to my house and had a website that was half-way professional. They say they specialize in natural hair but I think they mean the kind of natural hair that is curly and not highly textured like mine. I definetly have done my own hair and have had it come out way better than they did it. It was like throwing my money in the trash can. If I am going to wear my hair straight I want it to be straight and not that horrid in between look. If you have highly textured NATURAL hair don’t patron this establishment! They don’t know what to do with it.

I steered clear of this place after reading the reviews on here. Please go to the website and look @ their pictures, these are not professionals folks!

I visited for the first and last time recently and was extremely disappointed with my hair! My hair looked better when I arrived than when I left. My first mistake was just walking in with no appointment. A friendly young black female took me right away and although she seemed to have a good deal of hair knowledge, the results did not reflect so. My hair was heavy and oily looking when I left and I was very upset. It appears this young lady may have been fresh out of beauty school but I cannot lay all of the blame on her. I should have done more research first. I did also notice the heat they use is EXTREME. While I was under the hair dryer, my ears started to burn as if hot metal was touching them. I tried to lift the dryer up to get relief, but the dryers are like military jail cells. No escaping! I could not get it off my head and had to ask for help. I also noticed other ladies getting blow dry styles and the smoke from the hot dryers was massive. I said oh my god, that cannot be healthy for your hair. I will try another Dominican salon, but cannot recommend this one. I will have to wear my hair in a ponytail or pinned up which was not my intention after paying darn near $ 40.00 for a shampoo and roller wrap. If you decide to go to a Dominican salon, I would suggest going and sitting for about 15 – 30 minutes and checking out the quality of their hair care and designs. Pick the stylist that does the best work and make an appointment with her. Do not walk in blindly not knowing what type of hair stylist you are getting. Very dangerous and you will lose your money and possibly your hair!

I was not happy with my hair when I left. The stylist used the blow dryer and then the flat iron, which I did not like. It looked like a kitchen do when I got out of the chair. I wrapped my hair when I got home and it looks much better. It is straight and bouncy. I like it now so I don’t know what to think. Would I go back, probably not.

I work near this place and I pass by it a lot so I went by just to take a look and ask about prices one day and I ended up making an appointment. Me myself, I like to keep a few salons on hand just in case one is horribly overbooked. I like the dominican salons because they are simple and they care about the health of the hair rather than always trying to abuse your hair with chemicals– they encourage you to wear your hair naturally– and they help it grow. Plus they have great prices and they are open SEVENDAYS A WEEK! I have had nothing but great things to say about dominican salons so far and so I’m going to endorse the ones that I patronize and do a great job. Gladys Dominican Salon is a brand new salon in Norcross on Jimmy Carter Blvd. If you’re coming from downtown ATL, you’d take 85 north and exit Jimmy Carter then take a left, the salon will be on your right(directly across the street from the very awesome Five Guys — we’ll talk about them later). Anyway at my first appointment I was a little nervous — I’m always this way when trying a new salon — I mean its my hair for heavens sake — but I was put at ease quickly. This salon is beautiful inside — not like your usual dominican salon. I love the way they have it decorated — large mirrors and soothing colors painted on the walls. Gladys and the other beautician were very welcoming. The whole time I was there I saw everyone leave happy and I was of course very happy with the way my hair came out and I got a very much needed trim. if you’ve been considering trying a new salon I say try a Dominican salon — they don’t do the real fancy and outrageous hair styles but if you want to grow your hair out the right way and have the patience to just let it grow, I say try this salon — they will take care of you.
