Came here at 2:45 pm on a Wednesday and all the food was gone? No duck no BBQ pork? Not sure how you can run a business like this ?? Family owned but come on how can you be out of food ?? Anyways I’ll give another go the next time I’m in the area and i’ll update the review when trying the food.

I often visit Hong Kong Supermarket because to me, it has the most variety of Asian ingredients than H Mart & Assi. I even saw Hmong and Cambodian style noodles there! The food court is definitely overlooked because it’s tucked in the right side on the corner with no welcoming access. The main reason I knew about the food court or even paid attention to it was because my husband’s side had a roasted pig catered to an event. Since we lived the closest, we went to pick up the roasted pig. It was a whole pig that is roasted, yes, with the head and everything lol. The meat tasted delicious! I came back several times to take do a carryout cause I shop at Hong Kong Supermarket often and rather eat at home. Food is cheap for rice, meat, & veggies for around $ 7. The last time I came, I bought half of a roasted duck for $ 12.99& a pound of roasted pork for $ 10.99. To me, the meats are flavorful and I don’t need the dipping sauce. It’s so good. Big Wong BBQ is definitely an underrated roasted duck & pork bbq joint.

Crispy Chinese barbecue pork — the loud snap of the slow-cooked skin when I take a bite and the aroma of the fat entering my nostrils sort of turns me on. AMIRIGHT? So if you want your soul to ascend to pork sexy Nirvana, journey over to the Hong Kong Supermarket off of Jimmy Carter and find Big Wong’s to the right of the entrance in the food court. Things that you should know: ***** I. FOOD&DRINK –Menu is in Chinese, Vietnamese and English, so that’s good. –Types of BBQ include duck, pork, and quail. –Whole roast pigs available upon request.(The owner will show you an example on his Galaxy Note. Lol.) –All dishes — which include veggies, rice, and meat of choice — fall under $ 15.(Will verify, next time I return.) –Coke and Yeo products available. II. SERVICE –It only takes a few minutes for them to cut up all of the meat. –They’re friendly. –Did I mention that they will show you pictures of BBQ pigs upon request? III. ATMOSPHERE/DÉCOR –You’re in a pretty clean food court, so no worries. –This is the type of eatery a brotha brings a honey to see if she’s wifey material. Not a first date, kind-of-place. IV. PRICES –Still have to verify the prices, but for sure they don’t break. Not to mention, an entrée with rice and veggies can easily serve two or more. #valuecity V. OVERALL Big Wong’s serves excellent BBQ duck and pork. I haven’t tried the quail, yet, but I’m sure it rocks.

Big Wong BBQ is a bundle of Crispiness. I have to admit that I underestimate Big Wong BBQ. I was first introduced to Big Wong by stalking a coworker’s lunch for several days & finally decided to dive in to get fat. Being that Big Wong is located right inside of Hong Kong Supermarket — it’s so convenient for me to pick up lunch for work & not to mention it’s the closest BBQ around. My lunch to-go box includes: Roast duck and Roast Pig(Crispy Skin) with rice, green veggies, pickled mustard greens, complimentary broth, and dipping sauce. I will occasionally alternate between getting the Roasted Duck or Roast Pig & sometimes I’ll get half & half… and yes, they let you get half & half.($ 7.95) The lunch boxes range from $ 6 to $ 8 depending on what you get. You have to spend over $ 15 to use your Credit card or else you have to pay cash. Overall, Big Wong BBQ is a cheap place to pick up lunch if you’re in the area. The meat are fresh & very tasty. I’ve been very happy with the service & speed when I pick up my lunch. This is definitely my to-go place when I don’t have time to pack lunch for work.

One of my favorite spots for lunch when I’m in the office. Fresh Chinese bbq and good service. My only complaint is that they will only take credit card for $ 15 and up.

Very nice and crispy duck. Standard rice and veggies. However if you like that crispy duck skin this is a good spot. roasted pork is good.

Cheap duck located in the Hong Kong Supermarket food court. The entrance was SUPER sketch… for Happy Cup(What EXACTLY does Happy Cup sell??? There were men smoking and staring as we rushed through the small«café» to avoid them…). We stood in front of the menu for only a few seconds before we all decided unanimously on three orders of duck with rice. The lady behind the counter shouted out 3 duck orders to the man with the butcher knife and he unceremoniously chopped up three portions of duck. The duck wasn’t bad, although not very flavorful. The skin was crispy, and since the three of us were hungry, we didn’t mind that the flavor wasn’t all there, especially with that salty sauce(soy sauce and sugar? Not sure what exactly was in it) and the chili sauce that were provided. I didn’t like how the«sour vegetable»(that’s how it is literally translated from Chinese to English, not sure what the real vegetable is… mustard leaves?). Usually they are diced and placed over some rice and meat. In this case, it just overwhelmed the rice since they weren’t cut at all. As much as I like the subtle sour flavor, it didn’t work cooked in this way(who cares if it all goes down the same way?!) I didn’t even know this BBQ place existed. An order of duck and rice is a dollar cheaper than Ming’s but honestly I think I would pay that extra dollar in cash for Ming’s. Perk of this place is $ 15 card minimum as opposed to cash/debit only at Ming’s on Buford Hwy… but is that REALLY a perk?

Ever been to Hong Kong BBQ( ) inside the Atlanta Chinatown food court? Well, Big Wong BBQ is pretty much the Hong Kong Supermarket equivalent. It’s a shame Big Wong flies under the radar. At the time of posting this review, it only has three Unilocal reviews. On its best days, I think Big Wong BBQ is better than Hong Kong BBQ. Big Wong is located in the Hong Kong Supermarket food court next to Phở Xe Lua. Hong Kong Supermarket is a large Asian supermarket located on Jimmy Carter Blvd. near I-85. It’s in a large shopping plaza with several mostly Vietnamese-owned restaurants and businesses. Once inside the supermarket’s food court, it’s hard to miss the roasted ducks, chickens, and pig parts hanging underneath the heat lamps in the stall’s glass display case. I like this place because the menu is simple, the food is affordable and delicious, and the cooks are good at what they do. The main menu consists of roast pig, roast pork, «soy sauce» chicken, and roast duck. Other offerings include fried rice, pepper steak, beef chow fun, and duck noodle soup. This can be considered authentic Chinese(Cantonese) fast food. It’s like something you’d find on the street in Hong Kong. Chinese comfort food. The main difference between«roast pig» and«roast pork» is the roast pig comes with crispy skin and lots of fat. The roast pig is what some refer to as «three layer pig.» The three layers being skin, fat, and meat. Roast pork refers to the slices of BBQ pork with a reddish, slightly crispy exterior. Both the«pig» and«pork» are boneless. This is not the case with the chicken and duck, which are chopped and served with the bones. You can purchase pig/pork at $ 8.99 per pound, a whole soy sauce chicken for $ 8.00($ 4.50 for a half), and a whole duck for $ 17.99($ 9.50 half). There are also an assortment of rice dishes available. Depending on how many different types of meat you order, these rice dishes can range anywhere from about $ 6 to $ 8 each and come with vegetables and broth. Everything is served in disposable Styrofoam containers with plastic silverware. Bring cash because this place is cash only. Also, no tap water. Bottled water and sodas are a buck each. You can also get tea and soy bean milk(different from soy milk). That’s my biggest gripe with the Hong Kong Supermarket food court. Unlike other food courts(e.g. Chinatown, Super H Mart), Hong Kong’s food court has no complimentary water dispensers. Boo. It’s hard to go wrong with anything on the menu, so order away. All of the meats are great. They are fresh and savory. Go on the weekends(Saturday is the best) for the freshest meat. Most of the meats are cut and prepared on the spot immediately after you order. If I had to choose, my personal favorites are the roast duck and roast pork. However, the pig is tasty too and the chicken is tender. The rice plates are filling. The portion sizes are generous unlike Hong Kong BBQ. Each rice plate comes in a Styrofoam to-go container packed with rice, slices of meat, green veggies, pickled mustard greens, and a sweet, brown dipping sauce. Even the plain white rice is good. Don’t overlook the beef chow fun. In fact, I highly recommend it. The beef chow fun is made fresh to order. It consists of long, flat, ho fun noodles(wide rice noodles) stir-fried with pieces of beef, bean sprouts, onions, scallions, and green veggies. This is a «dry» noodle dish that is extremely savory and a bit oily. A staple of Cantonese cuisine. Big Wong’s version isn’t as intense nor salty as many other versions around town and that can be a good thing. Do yourself a favor and order a beef chow fun. Service is quick and efficient. There’s rarely ever a line/wait for this business, which is both a good and bad thing. Good for us, bad for them.

Since I was working at the Vietnamese Community Center down the street, some of my co-workers recommended this place to grab some food. Since I had no idea what I was in for, I said sure. I’m not a fan of duck so instead of getting two meat options with the rice, I stuck to the roast pig and rice. I later realized, I probably should have ordered the fried pork instead. My other co-worker and I were not too thrilled about the food, and barely finished a third of it before we decided to just trash it. Needless to say, I highly doubt I’ll be back unless I want to give the roast pig a try. However, the lady was super sweet.

I am surprised that as I write this, there is but one review. Unlike the other review, I opted for the roasted duck. My only regret is I didn’t order more – the veggies I got with it were a great match and really delicious by itself. But that duck. That duck was what I have been craving for since returning from Taiwan. I will be returning shortly and often, I think.

Delicious crispy skinned roast pig(not pork, pig… none of the red sauce) and perfectly sauced and tender soy sauce chicken. Eat the roast pig skin right away for the maximum crispiness! The warm pork with dripping fat will make the skin soggy if you wait till you get home! The roast duck looked gorgeous hanging there, but I’ll have to try it next time. The«menu» consists of buying the meats by the pound(roast pork, duck, roast crispy pig, soy sauce chicken) or as a meal with rice and some veggies(bok choy or gai lan), which looked to be a pretty good value(under $ 10). A small stand tucked in the Hong Kong Supermarket food court… this place is a gem, especially compared to some of the mediocre Asian BBQ places I’ve tried so far along Buford Highway.
