Best hot lobster roll I’ve had, period. Their Noank clam chowder, full of tender clams, was a nice alternative to the standard New England chowder. My 4 year old scarfed the lobster down, it was that good. The location added to the whole experience.

We just landed and had to get lobsters. We’re told of this place by the locals. We tried and loved it . Bring your own wine was nice touch. Had the lobster pasta – full of flavor –rich and did not skimp on the lobster meat. I had the 1 ½ lobster –cooked perfect and hot. I had little room for the sides. Price was good and staff helpful. Will be back

First of all our waitress was amazing. So friendly and warm! The place is funky and you can’t help but feel immediately at home. The food feels like delicious home cooking, savory and inviting but not pretentious at all. Just easy and happy food. The kind you want to share with loved ones and laugh over. The fettuccine with lobster was fantastic, as was the clam chowder. It’s BYOB which I personally like. So grab some great beers or a good bottle of white and definitely come here for dinner!

We were in the area and wanted to experience the lobster. I am glad that Ford’s was open in the low season. We arrive on a weekday around 1pm and almost had the entire place to ourselves. A nice woman asked if we wanted to sit inside or out. Out has about five tables. We sat outside and enjoyed the view. We started with a clam chowder and a lobster bisque. I ordered the cold lobster roll and my husband ordered the lobster bomb covered in lobster bisque. Oh my word! We have died and gone to lobster heaven. Everything was wonderful. I wish we lived here. If we did we would eat here once a week if not more. It was amazing food. The service was friendly and fast. The atmosphere was relaxed. Late October is low season in these parts but the vibe was perfect for us. Thank you for a wonderful experience. If we are back in the area we WILL be back. My husband will be telling everyone he knows about that lobster bomb. Ten stars if I could give it to them.

The ambiance and décor are traditional ocean/fishing and the place has an awesome view. We had the lobster bisque which was to die for as well as the fish tacos. I would definitely recommend this place and come back in the near future. It gets busy quickly. We got there at 11:30 on a Sunday just as the lunch menu was introduced.

My tastebuds have died and gone to heaven! Beyond amazing meal and service. Living in S. Fla I’ve had some good lobster bisque, but the bisque here was amazing. Save some, order the lobster cheese blt and pour some of the bisque over the blt-you can thank me later. By the way, the fries we’re freacking awesome too!

I wish I could eat it l day, now that I think about it I might have to come back for lunch tomorrow before I leave :) You eat right on the dock!

This is traditional Southern New England dining at its best — the atmosphere, the view, the fantastic food. Also unfortunately for those not expecting it — the price. Luckily for me I lived in this area most of my life and was not surprised. We arrived on a Thursday night in mid-September. The wait was 45 min. That’s a good sign to me. It was worth it and I loved sitting right on the dock at a table with an umbrella, small lantern, and larger lanterns around the tables when it got darker. This place can be considered romantic, relaxed, casual, great for any occasion. The service was nice but a bit slow. We were sat at 7:15 and received our check just after 9. I won’t take any points away from the server because she understood my husbands sense of humor, joked back, and I never felt like hiding under the table. Now the food is epic — not that greasy fried seafood that you find in the tourist areas of southeastern CT. This is the real deal. The only reasons I am not giving 5 stars is because the muscles were delicious but very tiny — maybe it’s how they are this time of year but still not worth it and the chicken pesto was tastey but small considering it was a main entrée. BUT the lobster Thermidor was to die for — huge chunks of lobster over spaghetti squash(how creative), asparagus, broccoli, and a delicious light cream sauce. The lobster bomb was awesome — comes hot, cold, or hot with bisque drizzled on top. Yes it seems expensive but try to keep in mind how many pounds of lobster that is. Dessert was only 2 choices — chocolate mousse and bread pudding. Both delicious tho. The dinner menu is large(other reviews showed pictures of only one page menus — maybe it’s limited at certain times) and filled with many interesting seafood creations. If you’re a land lover like my husband it’s a little more limited. I’m not sure about breakfast or lunch. Try this off the beaten path place at least once. It’s worth the experience.

This is outside dining at its finest! Weather permitting of course. You will be blown away by the talent of this chef. Lobster Thermadore over spaghetti squash– forget five stars, it gets ten. Same with the Lobster Bomb. You can bring your leashed dog. Shush, I’m not sure you’re permitted to tell. The staff is charming and attentive. Bring your appetite and your own bottle. You will love this place.

I loved the food here! Got the lobster roll and lobster stuffed avocado! Pictures do not do justice to this place the view and seating! Pretty much: seating area is nice— the wait is ridiculous and the portions are a bit small

Delicious lobsters, in a gorgeous traditional New England setting — Like something from a movie. I went to fords once and it was everything i had hoped and more. The live lobster tanks are awesome– you can see the lobsters crawling around! The restaurant itself sits literally ON the dock, and the boats pull up and offload the lobsters directly into the tanks. The lobster bomb is the one you want, and you’ll want to eat it there. That said, they also offer lobsters to go and when we ordered a dozen that way, they had them ready to go when we went to pick them up.

A gem! Delicious destination no matter what. But if you have kids, a must see. — Check out the live lobster tanks above the restaurant. Your kids can manhandle the lobsters in a throwback to decades past. — Must orders: New England chowder, Clams Casino and above all else the Lobster Avocado Grilled Cheese. Fat pieces of juicy lobster drenched in Avocado and a touch of mayo on butter crisped white bread and a decadent grilled cheese. Hands down my preferred last meal. Don’t think about the calories and carbs, just eat. — Lobster Reuben is a misstep. Kraut just overwhelms the lobster. — Burgers and Grilled Cheese are great for the kids. — In addition to byob for the adults, be aware they only have sodas and Minute Maid cans for the kids.

Great service, hot summer day, great menu options! Cute location off the beaten path. This was the best lunch in the mystic area that I have had so far. It’s the real New England experience. This was the best lobster roll i have ever had growing up in New England.

Ford’s is the«other» outdoor lobster place in Noank, after Abbott’s. They were not nearly as crowded and the tables are nicer, the view from the patio is beautiful. Ford’s has a good menu, a combination of classic seafood options and creative innovations such as the lobster reuben and the lobster and avocado grilled cheese. The food was fresh and generally well-prepared, the portions were just right. The lobster avocado grilled cheese was good, but very greasy. The clear chowder was just right. The cole slaw was… mediocre. They serve at the tables, which could have been an advantage over Abbott’s, but the servers were a little snooty, unattentive, and somewhat unaccommodating.

I can only comment on the lobster rolls, since that was all we had. Fries: well cooked and delicious! Cole slaw: stuff from the bucket of food distributor; not worth it. Lobster rolls: fantastic!!! Plenty of lobster and a great butter slathered bun. I’d have given them five stars except the seating is very limited and the cole slaw was gross. Worth a visit though, and worth going back for more lobster rolls.

My cousin and I had planned a trip to Ford’s about 2 months before I visited so I was looking soooo forward to it. I decided to get the $ 19.99 Lobster roll since I’ve never had one. It was good. I mean it’s lobster on a buttered hoagie bun. that’s it. I’m not sure what I expected so I wasn’t really impressed. The crab cake we got for an appetizer was pretty feckin’ great tho My cousin and I were there with 3 kids, there was a bit of a wait, maybe 20 minutes. The waitress sat all 5 of us at 3 tables, and if you’ve been to Ford’s, they’re small tables. Half way through our meal, she wanted to take one table away for waiting customers. ok, maybe it’s just me, but I was furious, especially when there are small children that have to be moved around and re-settled. I had to ask for a refill on my Diet Coke. Then we had to ask for the ticket because our server was busy talking to what I assume were«regulars». The food was good, not great. I’m sure there’s better places around that aren’t as expensive.
