Waxbergs Walk Shoppe

Brought my friend in for new shoes. He has a new brace for his foot and leg and is very difficult to fit. The salesman, Sol Rosen, tried unsuccessfully to fit a shoe over the brace and ended up special ordering shoes. We picked up the shoes today and they required a slight adjustment which Sol was able to make. All in all, my friend is very satisfied with his new shoes.

What does a fashionista do when she has problem feet She heads to Waxbergs and asks for Irwin. Irwin always finds shoes that can accommodate my foot problems but that don’t scream orthopedic to the casual observer. He has fit me in very cute sandals, adorable boots, and red shoes that get me stopped on the street with compliments.
Irwin knows what will and won’t work for my feet and what will pass my fashion test. My feet and I are grateful to him and to Waxbergs.

Waxberg’s reached out today via Unilocal message. They are responding to the review, and I commend them for that. They had a great assortment of shoes, so if they fix the problem with the salesperson, I would recommend that you try them.

WOW !!! What a great place our salesman Irv knows his business !!! My orthopedic had suggested Waxberg’s. Left with 2 pairs of shoes from the shoe psychologist !!! A must visit but go early they have a sign in sheet for service !!

My better half is not a Unilocaler but she is still steamed after horrible customer service at Waxbergs a year ago, so let me briefly relate it. (BTW, she’s a physician, so Grace K., they’re equal opportunity offenders!)
She goes into the store on way to office, no acknowledgement by staff, starts to look around. 15 minutes go by, no one has come over, and into the store comes a reverend she knows. She starts talking to him and they both sit down. Eventually, a salesperson comes over to wait on the reverend and my wife is ignored. She goes to the sales counter, and is told «we thought you were with the reverend», and she has to explain that no, she came into the store 15 minutes before him, and could someone help her now. Counter people tell her no, they’re too busy, and she’ll have to keep waiting. No apology, even after she identifies herself as a physician who often refers people for foot care. Asks to see the manager and is told he’s «too busy» to talk to her. So she leaves angry at how the store wasted almost an hour of her time without any care to make it right.
And I don’t blame her. We all want to root for independent businesses, yet so many fall into this pattern of arrogance and favoritism and then cry they can’t compete with Amazon.

My husband & I went to this store, because the comfort shoe store near us closed, and past customers were sent a coupon to use on a purchase at Waxbergs.
They had a nice selection of shoes, and I proceeded to collect all the ones I wanted to try. No one really acknowledged us… the salesmen just hung around the desk. It must have been Stew’s turn to have the next customer on the sign-​in sheet, but he looked at me like he had just lost at drawing straws!
I’ve never seen anyone look so apathetic about doing their job. This salesman never offered to measure my feet, and when I mentioned my bunion, high arches, and high instep, he just shrugged and said, «Whatcha gonna do?». He didn’t give a rip. I nearly suggested he go on medication for depression, or quit his job.
My husband and I remained as pleasant as possible, but it was clear this person did not want to lift a finger for his commission. He just went through the motions, kept sighing every time I had a question, or when he needed to get me a different size. I was livid, and biting my tongue, but I needed shoes, & we’d driven a ways to get there.
Crazy as it sounds, after this painfully awkward shopping experience, I actually bought a pair of shoes. My husband, a patient saint, handed over the coupon and credit card, because I was too upset to deal with this man any longer.
I would never, ever, set foot into this store again. It was not worth the hassle I was put through. There are plenty of other comfort shoe options around, where people are actually pleasant, and appreciative of their customers.

I’ve been to Waxbergs a couple of times. The first time was for myself as I was dealing with some horrible Plantar fasciitis. Irwin checked out my feet, measured, watched me walk and brought me out 3 different shoes to try on. One of the pairs I fell in love with. Between those Dansko’s he sold me and my Brooks running shoes, My heel pain is about gone.
A couple of weeks ago I returned to Waxbergs because my husband started a running plan and his shoes were horrible. He had also started some heel pain and he finally listened to his wife (typical male) and went with me to be fitted for some real running shoes. Once again, his foot was examined, they looked at the wear pattern and they then brought out several shoes for hubby to try on.
We will go back!

I have been to Waxbergs multiple times. Each time I have signed in, been able to look around and get an idea of what is available, and then had excellent, personal service.
I have chronic plantar fasciatis, bunions, sciatica, and fibromyalgia and their recommendations have been right on target and have helped to abate my pain. My most recent visit in mid-​January was for a pair of athletic shoes. After discussing my needs, my history and looking at the wear pattern in my current shoes, I was given a suggestion for a pair of shoes that have proven to be great for me.
The sales people are knowledgeable and personable. Their selection is great as well. I am a convert from cheap and inexpensive shoes to quality shoes — you get what you pay for. Waxbergs will have the majority of my shoe business from now on.

the person who works on the shoes to lengthen straps or change zippers needs to have a reality check. listen to what is being said not make up your own scenarios.
you can loose customers being so full of yourself. look in a mirror sometimes and see a mortal human being not god’s gift to feet.

My husband and I have purchased several pairs of shoes at Waxbergs and have always found the staff to be friendly, service-​minded and attentive. So, when my 94-​year-​old mother-​in-​law recently needed a pair of new shoes, I didn’t hesitate to visit Waxbergs. We were there on a Saturday and were immediately greeted by a salesman. I had hoped for a brief consult for my MIL with a pedorthist, but did not have an appointment. One of the salesmen went to get Rick Durante, the pedorthist and he came out, greeted us and said that if we could wait until he was finished with his current appointment, he would make recommendations for my MIL. We waited about 20 minutes and Mr. Durante spent the next 30 – 45 minutes carefully assessing my MIL’s feet and her leg muscles and fitted her with a pair of shoes that she said «felt great.» He did so with professionalism, good humor and gentleness. He recommended that she seek physical therapy to help with gait and stability issues and provided the one-​on-​one personal service that we have come to expect from Waxbergs.
I have read the less-​than-​great reviews of this store on Unilocal and have this to say: Food and drink do not belong in any apparel or shoe store. As for the style of the shoes, if you like Naot, Finn Comfort, Munro and similar brands — and especially if you stand for work — do yourself a favor and visit this store.

Had to return a pair of shoes, had receipt, shoes were never worn. Because it was past the «10 day» rule, they took $ 75.00 off the original price I had paid. Sales people are extremly rude. WILL NOT SHOP HERE AGAIN!

Today I took my parents to Waxberg to get them some shoes. I specifically went here because the last pair I bought them (which, by the way, cost me over $ 200 each) were the most comfortable shoes they have owned.
NEVER will I frequent this store again. From the moment we walked in, the salesmen were RUDE and ARROGANT. They acted like we were invisible. We were ignored the whole time we were in the store. There were at least five salesman sitting around and not one of them acknowledged our presence until I asked about a certain shoe at which point was rudely told, «it’s over here and you have ten minutes to look around»! Really!!? I come in here, to possibly drop about $ 500 of my hard earned money, and this is the treatment I get? Never again.
As I read other Unilocal reviews, seems like this is typical Waxberg «service». I don’t recommend anyone frequent this establishment!

Took my mom to Waxberg to get new shoes, we knew what pair she wanted, because she HAD been a customer for the last 10 years.
Well today that all changed. Salesmen walking around acting like we were invisible.
We stood there over 15 minutes and not one single salesman asked us if we needed help. So we left… if they hadn’t asked us by that time they weren’t ever going to ask.
Calling Waxberg’s to have them remove my mom’s name from their mailing list.
If they aren’t going to waste their time on a customer who was going to drop $ 200 on a pair of shoes, I’m not going to waste my time going there ever again.

The salesman shouldn’t be so judgemental when they don’t know how much people are dropping for a single pair of shoes from their store.
I urge everyone, if they know they exact shoes they want… go online and buy them, don’t patronize Waxberg shoes. Waxberg’s doesn’t even deserve one star.

I stopped by Waxberg’s today, fully intending to drop some serious money on shoes, and was greeted by being told to put my drink on the counter. I did that, and then tried on a pair of shoes from the clearance room. I walked around the store, picked up a pair of shoes that I wanted to try in my size, but could not get the attention of any salesperson. I understand that they can be with another customer, but no one made any effort to acknowledge my presence, or to tell me that they would help me when they could. I returned the shoes, picked up my drink and left.. .and I will never return. What happened to simple courtesy?

Wow~I have been shopping at Waxbergs for years and am still amazed at the quality of their shoes, knowledge of precise fitting, professionalism of staff, and extraordinary willingness to accommodate each customer. This is the best shoe store on the planet!
I recently has major foot surgery and «Irwin», who helped me, spent so much time making sure I left with the correct shoes that fit my feet. Oh, and did I mention? The shoes are beautiful and very much in style. I recommend this store to everyone I know. Again, best shoe store on the planet.
Remember, too, that this store is popular, so make sure you sign in as soon as you arrive. You will be waited on in the order of your arrival. You will not be rushed. A+

Just finished eating at the Panera next door. Had a drink in my hand. I’m a nurse, and I wanted to check out a new pair of Dansko’s. So I walked in.
Immediately, an old gentleman/“salesman” pounces on me, ‘If you’re not gonna stay a little while, would you mind throwing out your drink before taking a look around?“
Uhm. I’m not a 5 year old. Nor do I run with pairs of scissors. I asked if they carried the Dansko XP’s, (which is a newer version which is lighter). And he didn’t know what they were. He said no. Didn’t know what they were.

awful service! They just want business and say «if anything bring them back» BUT BEWARE, there’s an absurd 10 day return policy.
We went after 20 days exactly, not knowing, and they would not take the $ 250 untouched sandals back. Unreal! Unsure how this store is still open, when places like nordstrom, etc, carries some of the same shoes and at least their return policy is better. The customer service is poor! They were very rude, waited a long time to even get acknowledged that I was at the desk with a question.
Never again! Save yourself the time, money and aggravation!

Y’all (those who follow my reviews) know that I have problems fitting my feet. So, in desperation, I went to Waxberg’s to try to get a good looking, stylish pair of shoes that would fit my feet, at the referral of a co-​worker whose elderly (don’t laugh) mother bought a pair of shoes here. I told them what size I was and they showed me the ugliest pair of shoes (good looking enough to catch a grandpa) I’ve ever seen. They told me that the shoes could fit orthotics, which is good, but I need to look good and not wear a pair of shoes that remind me of my grandmother’s shoes towards the end of her life. I’m 30 years old, not 90!
I will NOT be going back there, and nor should you if you want to get a decent looking pair of shoes. Try Nordstrom Old Orchard instead — those ladies know weird sized feet and care enough about you to make you «hot» on the streets and not just in the retirement home!
