The Mayor Ralph A. Infante Wellness Center

I hate, hate, HATE going to the gym. Even though I know I should go on a regular basis, I’ve always had trouble in the past making a solid commitment. However, this past February, my parents decided to purchase a family plan to the Niles Wellness Center (also known as «The Well» by many locals).
Here’s a little bit of background on The Well: It is a community based facility. They offer many athletic, recreational and educational programs for all ages. Housed within the building is an indoor soccer field, basketball/​tennis courts, indoor track, spinning room, batting cages, Fitness/​weight room, concession stands and meeting rooms as well.
The fitness and weight room is my favorite. There’s an excellent balance of cardio machines, including 4 treadmills, 4 ellipticals, 2 recumbent bicycles, and a Stair-​master. The nautilus machines are also very abundant and typical of what you would normally see in any standard gym. All is well maintained and in great condition. Very rarely have i had any issues with acquiring a piece of equipment to use while there. I do however recommend going between the hours of 6 am and 2:30 during the school season. Once the kids are out of school, things can get a little hectic there (and irritating.)
If the Fitness room isn’t your thing, or you just aren’t feeling the whole, total workout thing, the next best thing is the track that circles around the indoor soccer field. It’s very open and roomy and also is not typically very crowded.
Overall, the portions of The Well that I utilize, I am very pleased with. It is a very clean and well maintained facility, the staff is very friendly and its very local and easy access. I feel very comfortable and actually don’t mind being there. I won’t lie and say it’s always perfect. The place can be very very crowded when there are indoor soccer games in play and in the after school hours. There are sometimes issues with «child control» and kids under 10 are running amuck and out of control. I just avoid going when I know its going to be like that!
Prices for The Well are not listed on the website. You can however call and inquire and one of the friendly staff members will let you know. I will tell you, that Cost is significantly higher if you are a Non– Niles resident. Hours are also seasonal and those are posted on the Website.
