Select Van Lines

This company will scam you!!!
i hired select moving and storage for my apartment move from chicago to south bend, indiana. they gave me a binding quote of $ 942.87 and then said they wanted $ 2293.20 for the move (they claimed there were additional items, however they also used an excessive amount of packing supplies in order to increase the price). they were 24 hours late delivering my shipment and then refused to take any of my items off the delivery truck until i paid them in cash (even though according to the binding quote i was able to pay part of my shipment in cash and another part via a personal check. i called the police, and though they were sympathetic they were unable to do anything. the moving company then drove my items back to chicago. the manager then called me and stated that if i sent her a personal check she would contact me once my check was processed. i believe that this company scammed me and held my possessions hostage until i paid their inflated amount. i had to hire another moving company to go to select moving and storage to get my items from their warehouse. extensive online research has revealed to me that this company (under a variety of names, including select van lines, united relocation van lines, select inc, galaxy van lines, target van lines) has done similar scams to many in the past. i need to make sure that they are not able to pull this scam on anyone else in the future.

Yes, these are the same folks that ran Peak Van Lines — Isaac (or Itzhak) Alial is the same guy. Peak Van Lines dissolved themselves last year. I had a terrible experience with Peak Van Lines and have personally spoken to two others who were ripped off by them.
Their scam is simple: You stumble on them on some stupid online moving referral service (btw, don’t use them — go by word of mouth). They send you an unbelievably low quote and some woman with an accent sweet talks you into selecting them.
The day of the move Isaac shows up in a rented van, loads up your stuff, then socks you with a bill 3x higher than the quote. He has your stuff on his truck by then.
A few weeks later a completely different van line shows up with your stuff.
These people are crooks, pure and simple.
