The place is in dire need of new management. The concept is great, but the place sucks. Most of the tote machines are usually broken. Most of the table monitors are usually broken. Most of the big screen tvs are usually broken, or at least have terrible color qualities. I understand that things break, but at least have them repaired in a reasonable amount of time. I’ve been there on numerous occasions and nothing ever changes. The same things are broken for months and months and sometimes never even fixed. This place would make alot more money if they took care of these matters. I have to travel 35 minutes farther away to blow my money at Arlington Trackside. Too bad Lucky, I could be blowing it by you.

I’m a horseplayer, and often heading to Lucky Magee’s is a heck of a lot more convenient then schlepping up to Arlington to watch the races. Food is OK, service is usually pretty bad, but there are plenty of televisions all around and the beer is priced to move. I’m also a sucker for the ‘20s-style décor. If you’ve never been to an OTB and you just have to see one, but don’t want that«I could be robbed at any moment» feeling, this is probably your place.

When you walk into this place its like walking into a card game in the basement. Real heavy feeling. Kinda like you might not be walking out. The smell of smoke is still inside after all the years of smoking. The tv’s are still from the 80’s. I’ll give it to them though the staff is friendly but who wouldn’t be friendly when there making all that money. I’d rather go to Vegas or Arlignton Off track

I went here with a friend on a Saturday afternoon. It was a lot of fun. We sat in the restaurant for lunch. Each table has 2 tv screens. The wait staff was very attentive and friendly. I called the day before and spoke with the manager about details. He was very helpful and described the establishment perfectly. It is a lot more lively and fun in the main room with the big screens and bar. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because I tried to pull up their website and it said it was suspended. The manager seemed to know about this. I thought because of this it was out of business. Otherwise, I would definitely recommend.

This place was a great place to go with 7 other people. Definately good for large groups as there is ample seating and very comfortable conference like tables with office chairs. It’s also good for solo time or small groups as there is a back room intended for the serious betters. The menu was good and everyone enjoyed their food from salads to pork chops to pie and sundaes. Of course there’s betting on horse racing and if you don’t know what you’re doing just ask the manager and they’ll give you a private tutorial and tour. It’s a bit confusing at first but they are very helpful. One tip though if you’re not accustomed to betting and cashing in tickets — your cash in value is lower than your balance on your ticket(hey, they gotta make some money off you if you cash in big). Anyhow, great joint — lots of fun — and helpful, courteous service.

Okay, yeah, its an Off Track Betting facility — but it has some style: many drinks to choose(beers, soda pop, mixed drinks), food is quite decent, and the service very decent. Went there a few times for drinks and some gaming, but the last time I was there was to have a few brews and bite to eat — and the lady at the front didn’t bother collecting the cover since I was there for food, so she was cool. Otherwise, what’s $ 1.00? Lots of TVs, simulcasting many races from many tracks, and has many many spots to sit, plus had a nice few isolated areas for private parties. Oh yeah, the washrooms weren’t too shabby either, considering its heavy use. Recommended!

I was looking for something different and out of the ordinary for a Sunday night date with my boyfriend. We decided to go to Lucky Magees for some Off-Track Betting. Neither one of us had ever been to an OTB. It is a $ 1 cover to get in and there are TV’s everywhere so no matter where you chose to sit you will have a good view. There are waitresses so you dont have to get up and a full menu of food. It is a restaurant/bar as well. As I stated before we did not know how the OTB procedure worked, but there was an employee named Jamie who was possibly the manager as well who explained everything to us thoroughly and completely. He was a great help! We learned very quickly and began betting on the different races. Each time you want to bet you go to the cashier counter. We were making $ 3-$ 5 bets and maybe won as much as we lost. All in all it was great time! Service was excellent, I always had a full 7&7 and a full glass of water. The BF’s beer never went empty. I think it will be more fun next time because we will know exactly what to do and with more people a bit more competitive.
