You know those infinitesimal screws that are used to put eyeglasses together? The ones the size of baby gnats? On a few occasions one of those poppy seed screws escaped and I returned to Steve for repair and consolation. Each time he has graciously taken the pair into his repair shop and emerged a few minutes later with everything back in working order, cleaned and readjusted. Yesterday, when a nose cushion fell off after about 5 years of wear, he replaced both free of charge and with a smile. I have been very happy with the Prodesign frames from Denmark, and most of all with Steve Robbins for continuing to stand behind his product. Does it get any better than that in the optometry world? I think not. 5 Stars!

When a pair of recently purchased frames from Robbins came apart while I was away on a trip, the manufacturer, a global near-monopoly(see 60 Minutes’ online archive for the Full Monty), was unhelpful with attitude. Nevertheless, Robbins came through and made good for us even though they obviously had to take a hit for that manufacturer’s flawed product. This aside, all glasses my wife and I have gotten from Robbins look great, fit well and the progressive lenses are obviously aligned for proper stereoscopic focus. I especially love my French Morel frames, which are so light and tight to the face that they are about as close as you can get to having no glasses at all — and yet they look great, too!
