D & B Tailors

So I’ve been going now to D & B for around five months — have had my laundry done (I can get my dry cleaning anywhere but D & Bs service is very well done and plus I really enjoy meeting Gabe — so why wouldn’t I get it done here), several shirts made, several shirts and trousers (previously bought elsewhere) altered, a jacket made etc etc. Gabe’s bespoke work is fantastic — Im a very difficult fit (48″ chest and 36″ waist) and his clothes fit me perfectly. But the point of this review is regarding his willingness to do alterations which frankly blows my mind. I cannot remember a bespoke clothier willing to alter shirts and trousers and be so nice and relaxed about it. I just want to bring that to everyone’s attention — think about Saville Row or any of the high end shops in Ny and take your off the rack shirt from wherever and ask them Hi Mr «Very High End bespoke clothier» would you be kind enough to alter my poorly constructed shirt that clearly doesn’t fit. I bet a) you’d be uncomfortable to even make that request and b) if you did they’d look at you like you were mental or something. Not the case with Gabe. Gabe has taken all my poor historical clothing purchases and altered them to fit me perfectly. I no longer look like I’m wearing a tent for a shirt but a perfectly constructed athletic fit that looks like it was made for my dimensions. Folks if you want clothes altered, are an athletically built man or woman with difficult dimensions, and want your dry cleaning done perfectly, D & B is it. If you’re going anywhere else you’re missing out.

D & B Tailors has Gabriel who is the finest tailor my husband and I have ever known. His work is impeccable and his sense of style can change a good suit or coat into a gorgeous and updated one. He’s also very nice, warm and sincere. When I’m there people just stop in to see him, say hi and give and get a hug! Honestly, the entire place is full of delightful people. I highly recommend this lovely place and Gabriel, an angel in a handsome suit.

I went for a consultation for alterations to my wedding gown on Saturday. I met with Gabe and he did not seem to know how to alter my ball gown style wedding dress. He also complained about the fact that it had a corset back. I love my dress and was not happy with the way he acted towards me and it. He also wanted to just take up the bottom, which would lose all of the hat detail on the skirt. I asked for a quote and he said he couldn’t give me one because he wouldn’t know how long it would take, and his starting ball park figure was very high. I got so frustrated I didn’t even mention the other alterations I wanted done to the dress.
I am sure Gabe is a wonderful tailor, but I did not get a warm fuzzy feeling about him altering my gown. I will be going somewhere else.

I went here to get a suit tailored. Gabe was very helpful and patient. I will definitely go back here next time I need a suit or any tailoring. The other staff in the store was very helpful and nice. The atmosphere inside was nice and there was a good selection. 5 stars for sure!

I had my wedding dress tailored by Gabe. Everything was simply wonderful! It was easily one of the best decisions I made in the whole process.

Being petite, it can be a struggle to find clothes that fit just right. I bought a spring trench coat but the sleeves were way too long. My boyfriend told me about Gabe’s expertise and so I drove to his shop from center city. This alteration was a tricky one because I wanted to keep the zipper on the sleeves, but Gabe worked his magic. Two weeks later I picked up my coat and could not believe what a beautiful job he did. Gabe has an impeccable eye for detail and I would come back to him for any other alterations that I need.

I was searching the Internet looking for a tailor with significant experience with delicate, high-​end designer clothing and found Gabe. I have taken several items to him and I am very pleased with his attention to detail and quality of his work. He makes excellent suggestions on how to best meet my needs. Anyone who uses him will be very pleased. I strongly recommend Gabe’s services.

D&B Tailors is top notch. Gabe is as friendly as he is knowledgeable, and he makes the whole experience worthwhile. He takes his time, makes you feel very comfortable and really gives you an appreciation for his craft. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the other employees as well. They are all very friendly and extend the same helpful nature.
About my alterations:
I was in town for a wedding and I had bought a suit from another store that needed some alterations as well as an overcoat that no longer fit me due to weight loss. He took the necessary time to hear how I liked the fit of all my garments and gave some great professional opinion. Everything was completed in a week and fit very well with the work being phenomenal on all my garments. The overcoat needed to be taken in pretty dramatically, and after having all the work completed it looked better than having just bought it off the shelf. The seems were perfect and the fit fantastic.
Pricing is very reasonable, especially for the quality work you receive. Buying the Unilocal deal helps even more. I marked the pricing as moderate, but it will vary depending on what you get done. I had the waste adjusted, pants hemmed, and sleeves altered and the bill was on par with other, less professional places.
I will definitely be back for further service since finding a good tailor is like finding a trustworthy mechanic. Don’t waste your time going anywhere else.

I found this place on Unilocal in search of a local tailor I could trust. The place is seriously a hidden gem. It was around the corner to my home and I never even knew it existed! Gabe, the tailor, is super nice and friendly. He treated me with respect and was very conversational. Even after being there for only 15 mins, I left feeling like I’ve known him for so long! Great place, I will be back! A tad more expensive than other tailors but they’re top notch and do it right the first time!

I’ve lived in New York City and Center City Philadelphia, but I’ve never gone to anyone with my best pieces of clothing except Gabe at D&B. Anything complicated or expensive or that you want to be guaranteed will be in as pristine condition when you pick it up as when you dropped it off is what you want to take to D&B. This place is for those items in your closet that you LOVE and never want to part with. Taking care of it by taking it to D&B will extend its life. I’ll admit, I take regular shirts, tops, basic hemming to the convenient local shop closer to home because D&B can get expensive, but good tailoring is worth it and makes all the difference in the world. Anything with lace, pleating, fringe, beading, tough stains, all occasion dresses, fur (good faux)-lined and down outerwear goes to D&B for dry cleaning or tailoring. Saying that Gabe is a skilled tailor would be the greatest understatement ever. He. Is. A. GENIUS. Not to mention that he treats you like family. He can transform any item of clothing into a masterpiece — he totally rebuilt my senior prom dress for me so that it was the most unique and beautiful dress there. He’s tailored every dress for every important occasion in my life, and he’s the only one I would trust to do so (as does Jay Wright of Villanova, who always looks smokin’ and impeccable — damn, what a good tailored suit can do for a man).
