Specialties

Preservation Properties is all about customer service and becoming a green real estate solution for the community. We are proud to recognize Ed Lyon, Owner /Broker, as the first EcoBroker in Newton. In business since 1993, we have served our clients with the respect, intelligence and knowledge of the industry which they deserve. Our relationship with you is what will drive us every day to be the best partner in your real estate search, whether that is buying or selling your home, renting your apartment or consulting on a wide array of issues surrounding real estate.

If you are tired of big box solutions to everything, ask around, we hope our name comes up as the best boutique real estate solution in the area.

History

Established in 1993.

Ed Lyon started in real estate in 1983. By 1991 I noticed many clients needed their homes improved in order to sell and rent them on the open market. I started a maintenance company, mostly painting, called Preservation Painters. Some clients got transferred out of town in the early 1990’s recession, and asked if I could look after their homes while they were away, in case they got transferred back to the Boston area. Thus begat Preservation Property Management in 1991. In 1993, I realized I had enough clients that called me for real estate needs that I opened my own real estate office in Newtonville and called it Preservation Properties (I guess I like alliteration). We have been running a successful business since then, combining the old ways of doing business — with honesty, integrity and ethics — with modern technologies and up to date business practices. We have earned the respect of our peers and repeat business of our clients — the only true measure of a company’s success.

Ed L.

Business Owner

Ed Lyon has lived in the Waban neighborhood of Newton for over 16 years. He and his wife, Stephanie (who still keeps the books), have two high school aged children (I can attest that the Newton school system is not resting on its laurels). He has been in real estate since 1983 in everything from renting apartments, selling and buying homes, managing properties, offering advice and counseling services and project development.
