H&R Block

I called H&R Block to set up an appointment for my wife and I and spoke with Ed Yee the office manager. The reason I am writing this small pre-​review is that he was extremely kind extremely, extremely patient and extremely informative. I did not expect such courtesy at 7:30 PM on Easter Sunday. I’ll report on the Accountant and our experience there.

Not sure we could have had a worse experience here than we did. The tax preparer was completely disorganized, inefficient, and did not inspire any confidence that she had the first clue what she was doing. We had a two-​state return since we had moved — not THAT complicated — and it baffled her. We emailed her all of our documentation in advance, yet she did nothing in advance. After our first appointment, she lost our entire return «in the computer» and had to do everything over. We spent over 2 hours in the office sitting there while she painstakingly slowly went through each step, screwing up math that we would correct.
We obviously should have cut our losses when she lost the return, but paid the price for not doing so – it turned out she completed our return completely incorrectly, and within months we heard from the IRS. We now have to refile everything, which we are thankfully doing through a different H&R Block location. I’ll never use this company again.
