Established in 1994.

Tail Waggerz Pet Care has grown a lot since its inception in 1994. Starting as a small home based business Tail Waggerz received a ton of word of mouth publicity among Newton residents. 15 years later Joe and Robyn Toscano saw the potential in their mother’s small business and added their young enthusiasm and ambition. Now operating in a 5000 square foot doggie daycare facility with another 2500 square feet of fully enclosed outdoor space it is safe to say Tail Waggerz has evolved.

One thing hasn’t changed though, your pup is still in the hands of a loving family while playing at TWZ.

Joe and Robyn Toscano, both born and raised in Newton have loved dogs their whole lives. When they got their first puppy (Cocoa) they couldn’t have been happier… or so they thought. When their mother began Tail Waggerz in 1994, not only did they have their puppy to play with, but also many other dogs from around the community.

Growing up around so many dogs, it was a natural choice to bring their fresh new ideas to their mother’s small business.

Joe and Robyn have always been called «two peas in a pod» and that bond they have has been strengthened by building a business together.

We love Tail Waggerz and would recommend them to everyone! My dog, Penny, loves going for daycare a few times a week. They are always posting pictures on their Facebook page so I can see Penny is having a blast when she is there!
We have also boarded here multiple times and have never once worried about Penny since we know she is in great hands while we are gone. She comes home and sleeps for hours so I know that she has a had a great time playing while we were away.
The staff is friendly and attentive and the prices are competitive. We can’t say enough good things about Tail Waggerz — we would be lost without them!

My pup and I love Tail-​waggers! When we lived closer we brought out Boston Terrier twice a week… Now that we moved we bring him for boarding only. We love that they don’t crate the dogs… I know my little guy is playing all day because he is wiped out for a couple days when he gets home. We really trust them with our baby! Also their Facebook page is great — they post pics and videos throughout the day.

My dog Hugo loves it here and the staff is great. They all seem very trustworthy and happy to be there. I wish I could afford to bring Hugo every day. He’s completely exhausted in the evenings after a day at daycare.

I feel bad having to downgrade my rating, but a few things have happened in the past few months that make it hard for me to keep the 5-​star rating. I’ve taken both dogs to be boarded here for a few days at a time, and both times both dogs came back very sick — one with a cough and the other with some sort of infection that had him out of commission for a few days. Further, one of my dogs had awful scabbing under his neck — clearly from a bite. It had been there a few days by the time we picked him up. I called to ask what may have happened, if anyone noticed or provided him any care — they had no record of it at all. Disappointing to say the least. We won’t bring our dogs there anymore, but we do still have a lot of friends who love it with no issues, which is why I’m giving the 3 star rating.

We have been bringing our dog Lola to Tail Waggerz for over a year now and we have nothing but great things to say about them. Our dog is excited when she arrives and isn’t nervous at all. She would shake and be super timid when we had her board at other places. Not at this one. The staff is super friendly and treats the dogs like family. We highly recommend them!!!

Re: boarding. When we’ve boarded our previous dogs in other places, they came home out-​of-​sorts, anxious, often sick. What a difference with Tailwaggerz. Izzie came home after 4 days in a great mood, mellow, not anxious, not sick, clearly in good shape, having had a great time. Once again, the atmosphere and the vibe and the employees here are all top notch!

I was visiting from out of town and needed to take my fur-​baby to day care. I found Tail Waggerz on Unilocal.Brian and the rest of the staff were wonderful! Knightley had a great time. I will definitely bring Knightley back next time we come to visit my family.

I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Bought the groupon and I don’t think I could go anywhere else, even when it runs out. They have the GREATEST, most friendly staff that knows all dogs by name when they walk in the door. They update their Facebook with pictures all day long. The space is huge with a great outdoor area. They also have the most ideal hours (first drop off is 7am, last pick up is 7pm, with aftercare until 8:30 for only $ 5 extra). When my Groupon runs out, I’ll be paying $ 30 a day (admittedly a little steep), but knowing my pup is safe and with a great staff is worth it to me. Bruno loves it too :) he always comes home SUPER tired (doesn’t even want to get out of the car, tired). VERY highly recommended!

My husband and I have been using Tail Waggerz since Spring 2013, as soon as our golden retriever puppy was cleared by the vet (shots, etc.). Due to our busy schedule, and our lack of a yard, we like to get him there about twice a week. He LOVES it. He always comes home exhausted and, when we pick him up, I swear he’s grinning from ear to ear. He knows where we are as soon as we park and pulls us through the door into the lobby every.single.time. 5s

My dog Miles just had a vacation at Tailwaggerz for 6 days and had a fabulous time. I’ve had dogs my entire life and have used lots of pet care and Tailwaggerz is by far the most dedicated, responsible, safe, loving and caring dog care center that I’ve encountered. I never worry when Miles is in their care. Thank you for being there!

Eve has been grooming my Havanese for several months now. He does not hesitate to go to her which speaks volumes. Her prices are reasonable and he always looks good when I pick him up. The facility is clean and offers retail products as well.

I went to them through a gruopon and could not have been more satisfied. They love dogs there and my labs were turned out, in time, a far better version that when I walked in. Good people who love dogs. The were shedding like it was their job.

So my dog went to tail waggerz for day care and boarding once a week for about 9 months. He loved going… he would be so excited whenever we arrived and exhausted at home from a long day of playing. I loved their flexibility. However I have decided to stop using TW because he came home twice from boarding with pretty serious medical issues. I’m not at all saying TW caused the issues — in fact I’m sure they didn’t — but both times nobody mentioned anything to me and I feel like both would have been less serious if they had been caught/​attended to sooner.

Now from the outside this place doesn’t seem like much, but they took fantastic care of our dog while we were gone for 5 days. You may be thinking, ‘how does he know whether they took good care of him or not? It’s not like the dog can tell them!’. Well, you are correct about that (but don’t tell my girlfriend who swears Banksy would tell her if anything were wrong), but we know because the night before we dropped our dog off, he got bit by some insects and a significant rash started. We dropped him off, but after 36 hours his rash apparently became very painful and Banksy was scratching at it and nearly caused an infection. They called us multiple times to keep us updated about his condition. They called us to ask if they could cut the fur around where it was most irritated to let it have air and provided anti-​itch spray on his rashes at no charge to us. After the second day, they provided a cone for him to prevent any further irritation. When we picked him up they even let us keep the cone, since we didn’t have one, and told us to simply return it next time we are near by. We plan on paying them for it since he’s dinged it up at this point, but they really went above and beyond to make sure Banksy was well taken care of and that we were informed of his progress.
So long story short, if you want your pup cared for and not simply boarded for a few days, take them to Tail Waggerz!

I am an owner of an animal hospital and very particular about where I take my dog Radar. While we don’t need doggy day care, I do recommend Tail Waggerz to our clients because I have seen first hand how the owner Robyn runs things. When you have several rambunctious dogs playing in a yard there is surely going to be an occasional scratch, bee sting or run in. What I can attest to is the immediate action by Robyn and her staff should anything like this arise. While we have never seen anything serious, we have seen the staff treat their customers’ dogs as if they were their own. I would absolutely use their day care and am very comfortable referring our valued clients to Tail Waggerz because I know they will be in good hands.
Tail Waggerz also offers dog training and behavior modification but what I personally use them for is grooming. Radar is always groomed exactly how I like him — I only had to tell them once — And he is perfect and happy every time. Their prices are competitive and I have never had a difficult time getting an appointment.
I would highly recommend Tail Waggerz for any of the services they offer.

We were out of the country for two weeks and my Basset Hound is really shy. She didn’t take to kennel life too quickly and was vomiting and had blood in her stool. Tailwaggerz let us know of the situation and being so far away we felt completely helpless and utterly terrible that our dog was going through this. But what could we do? They brought her to our vet, changed her food, and closely monitored her throughout the duration of our trip. They kept us in the loop and completely took care of our dog.
I would highly recommend using this kennel for boarding as they took care of everything so we could continue our vacation without the stress of having to worry about our dog. We will definitely be bringing Molly back when we need to board her!

My shaggy little hound hates being groomed, but I have to do it in the summer otherwise he gets really hot, and his luscious hair collects leaves, twigs, and other foliage. He hates grooming so much that previous groomers have told me they had to use a muzzle on him. Obviously this disturbed me not only because my dog was nipping at all, but more so because this told me he was in a situation where he felt he needed to nip. In any other situation he’s the sweetest dog, to anyone he meets, and this would never happen except when a big dog is really messing with him, for example. So, I’ve been to 5 different groomers over the last 5 years for his yearly summer haircut, and all said he was difficult. And he always came back looking like he’d just been through something not great.
Until today with Jen. Not only did he come out looking handsome and exactly as I had asked Jen to cut his 4+ inch fuzzy hair (to less than an inch!), but he was happy! She was obviously a huge dog lover, and she said he was perfectly well behaved and no muzzle needed. That’s the dog I know! I credit her for being gentle and not rushing, and likely giving him lots of love.
On top of that, the whole process was really fast, which is great because so often a groomer will just stash a dog in a cage til they are ready. With Jen, I made an appointment, brought my pup in, she worked on him, and then called me when he was done. He had a treat when I arrived to get him. Perfect! And very affordable prices.
I highly recommend that you come here to groom your dogs, even if it is out of your way.

Been a couple years and now I have a story to share:
Recently while at daycare the TW staff noticed my dog wasn’t acting like herself. I got the call from Brian (the manager) that I should probably come scoop her up and take her to the vet. One TWs staff member was on the verge of taking my pup to the emergency vet had I not been able to come immediately (big ups to Carly). Turns out this quick action probably saved my 3.5 year old Dobermans life because she almost got full on bloat (i.e. the bloat but her stomach hadn’t twisted yet). They made the call not only because it’s their job but more importanly, because they’ve grown to love my pooch like she was their own. Just think about how you’d feel if your daycare likely saved your dogs life… What more could you ask for?
How about:
1) An owner that takes in foster dogs and helps find them new homes (props to Robyn).
2) Awesome staff that cares about the dogs.
3) No giardia since I made the change (she had it several times at The Dog Scoop).
4) Manageable dog to staff ratio (The Dog Scoop had 150+ dogs and only a couple staff members).
