Scandia Down Shops

For 28 years I’ve loved my down comforter from the Chestnut Hill Scandia Down shop! The custom sewing job I got in that store was a good value and perfectly executed. Thank goodness for the well-​informed and gracious staff. I love my new Scandia Down goose down pillow. It is so soft, but at the same time, full and springy. It was a treat to go into the store and see what new linens had come in as they could be utterly exquisite to see and touch.

The quality of their down products is great, but one of the sales women is barely civil. She was hugely attentive (yes, I’d agree with «slobber over») to a woman who couldn’t make a decision, she was quite bored «helping» me and clearly didn’t think I was worth the trouble. She gave me the wrong date for delivery, charged my credit card weeks before my comforter was actually delivered as well. My advice: avoid that Chestnut Hill store and order ONLINE if possible.

I have shopped at Scandia Down for a few years as they are one of the few stores in the Boston area that carry such fabulous linens. I’ve never been thrilled with the sales people who work in the store, but the service reached an all-​time low for me last week. While picking up a special order on Friday with my husband, the woman helping me (who I think is the owner) was extremely rude to my husband and me. After seeing her slobber over a woman who had just left the store, I was horrified by her attitude. She must not be aware that in this economy luxury linens are not a necessity and that there are a number of websites where I can order my favorite sheets, etc. The lovely product is not worth it for the wretched service, beware!
