Pretty surprised at the stingy ratings. If you like the place so much, give it 5⁄5. And we all do. It’s general lack of flare earns it an extra star, in my book. If this was in DSM, it would be a top Deli here. Let alone Newton, IA. Which is a crappy town. You are lucky to have PJ’s, folks.

Great local deli. Sandwiches are great and they have generous portion sizes here. Not the speediest place in town, but that is ok. I would much rather eat here than a chain restaurant and I feel the quality is much better here too.

Amazing! Delicious across the board with their sandwiches and soups! Tons of great sandwich options(trust them — sometimes the ingredient combos are surprising, but the folks at pj’s know what they’re doing), and the dill dip is addictive! Top it off with a green river and you’re golden. I grew up in central Iowa but now live on the east coast, and I always make sure to stop by pj’s at least once whenever I’m back.

PJs Deli is a great spot to grab a tasty sandwich for lunch. Don’t bother with chain options like Subway or Jimmy John’s, you will find better quality here and you are helping out a local business owner who supports the community(especially if you are a cyclist). TIP: If you are in a hurry, call and order ahead. They are not known for their expedited service. I would give it 5 stars, but have witnessed on several occasions where they could make improvements with order taking, food making and general upkeep of the dining area.
